Rezáková, Katarína ; Malý, Josef (advisor) ; Smejkalová, Lenka (referee)
Analysis of patient adherence to treatment by DOAC I Author: Katarína Rezáková Tutor: doc. PharmDr. Josef Malý, Ph.D. Consultant: PharmDr. Kateřina Malá, Ph.D. Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Charles University Introduction and aims: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common supraventricular tachyarrhythmia associated with increased morbidity and mortality. In clinical practice, direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC) are used as an alternative to warfarin to prevent thromboembolic events in patients with AF. The study aimed to analyse the statements of patients with FiP along with data from medical records focusing on aspects related to the use and management of DOAC, including devices and tools to improve adherence to treatment, patients' level of awareness of DOAC and other therapeutic agents used. Methods: The prospective study was conducted from 2020 to 2022 at the University Hospital Brno. Patients aged ≥ 18 years with AF on DOAC therapy (dabigatran, rivaroxaban and apixaban) were included in the study. Data about pharmacotherapy and patients' health status were obtained from medical records and structured interview with the patient. Patients' interviews were performed at time 0, three and six months after patient has entred the study....
Analysis of patient adherence to treatment by DOAC II
Janáčková, Natália ; Malý, Josef (advisor) ; Hendrychová, Tereza (referee)
6 Abstract Analysis of patient adherence to treatment by DOAC II Author: Natália Janáčková Tutor: doc. PharmDr. Josef Malý, Ph.D. Consultant: PharmDr. Simona Dvořáčková, Ph.D., Mgr. Eliška Mašková Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Charles University Introduction and aim: Dosing interval may be an important factor influencing adherence to direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) therapy. In terms of adherence, a once-daily regimen appears to be a better alternative. However, there may be a higher risk of treatment failure if the dose is missed. The aim of the practical part of the thesis was to analyse patients' attitudes and experiences with DOACs, complemented by data from medical records, with a focus on aspects related to DOAC dosing. Methods: Data collection for this prospective study was carried out from 2020 to 2022 at the Internal Cardiology Outpatient Clinic of the University Hospital in Brno. Patients aged ≥ 18 years on DOAC treatment with indicated atrial fibrillation (FS) were approached to participate in the study. Each patient underwent a structured interview with a trained pharmacist on the day of study entry and again after 3 and 6 months. Two validated and three supplementary questionnaires were used in the interview. Patients' attitudes, experiences...
Measuring adherence in patients with oral targeted therapy in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia
Hanusová, Barbora ; Malý, Josef (advisor) ; Kolmanová, Eliška (referee)
Measuring adherence in patients with oral targeted therapy in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia Author: Barbora Hanusová Tutor: doc. PharmDr. Josef Malý, Ph.D. Consultant: PharmDr. Petra Rozsívalová Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Charles University Introduction and aims: Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) is a hematological disorder characterized by clonal proliferation of mature B-cells. New oral targeted drugs have been used in clinical practice to treat CLL. The aim of this thesis was to measure adherence to oral targeted drugs, analyze pharmacotherapy and identify drug-related problems (DRP) and their management. Methods: The cross-sectional pilot study ran from September 2022 to March 2023 in University Hospital Hradec Králové. Patients ≥ 18 years old, with CLL diagnosis treated with ibrutinib, acalabrutinib or venetoclax were included. Medical data and pharmacotherapy were obtained using electronic medical records and patients' medication records. Guided interviews were performed to measure patients' adherence to oral targeted oncolytics using Czech version of The Basel Assessment of Adherence to Immunosuppressive Medications Scale (BAASIS-CZ) and determine their opinions about medicine using Czech translation of The Beliefs about Medicines...
Factors predicting remaining in medium-term addicton therapy.
Jandová, Zuzana ; Libra, Jiří (advisor) ; Kuda, Aleš (referee)
Background: In patients starting mid-term addiction treatment, similar psychosocial and demographic factors can be identified, which subsequently influence patients' motivation to continue treatment. The main factors include social background, age, history of incarceration, type of primary addictive behaviour. Aims: The aim of the thesis was to identify baseline factors influencing positively or negatively the probability of regular treatment completion, the factors predicting early treatment drop-out and factors predicting remaining in treatment long enough to complete it properly. Methods: All patients (total number 411) who voluntarily entered medium-term addiction treatment in psychiatric hospital Havlíčkův Brod (PNHB) from 1st January 2016 to 31st December 2019 were included in the study. To assess regular treatment completion the entire group was analysed together. To assess the factors influencing the length of stay in treatment, patients were divided into three groups according to the number of days spent in the hospital (0-60, 61- 120, 121-183). Patients' data were obtained from the electronic version of patients' medical records. Results: The patients entering mid-term addiction treatment were men in 68.4%, most of them were without stable relationship (82.8 %), 38.7% had stable housing,...

Voříšková, Eliška ; Malá, Kateřina (advisor) ; Kolář, Jozef (referee)
Charles University, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy Author: Eliška Voříšková Supervisor: PharmDr. Kateřina Malá, Ph.D. Consultant: Mgr. Barbora Košťálová Title of thesis: CONSENSUS OF CZECH TERMINOLOGY IN THE FIELD OF MEDICATION ADHERENCE BACKGROUND: The terminology of medication adherence has undergone a vast change over the last 50 years. As individual terms have not become established, they are often misused and interchanged between each other. The aim of this work was to analyze the Czech literature and to establish a consensus in the field of terminology of medication adherence using Delphi round survey. METHODS: For Czech language, a search of literature released before January 6th, 2021 in databases Solen, ProLékaře.cz, BMČ and PubMed was reviewed. There were 122 articles published between 1998-2020, themed on the medication adherence. Based on the review, a questionnaire for three-round Delphi survey was created as well as a list of panelists invited in the survey. The survey was online, anonymous and contained questions about translation of 7 terms and their definitions established by the English document so-called ABC Taxonomy. RESULTS: In the 1st round of the Delphi survey, 106 panelists were contacted, 46 of whom responded. A consensus on...
