Prevention and prevalence of burnout syndrome among pedagogues of selected primary and secondary schools
Urbanová, Nikola ; Hanušová, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Kučírek, Jiří (referee)
This bachelor thesis takes focus on the burnout syndrom prevention among pedagogic staff in selected primary and high schools. The theoretical part deals with the concept of the burnout syndrom, its causes, phases, risk of its occurrence and last but not least whether the burnout syndrom is a disease or not. The importance of social support and preventive precaution against potential occurrence of the burnout syndrom is also mentioned in this part of the thesis. The practical part is realized through a quantitative research collecting its data in a questionnaire, addressed to pedagogic educators in selected primary and high schools. The receieved data is formed into a graphic illustration. The questionnaire data analysis has shown that the length of pedagogical practice could be in relation to a possible threat of the burnout syndrom. The research results has shown that the most threatened are pedagogues whose practice has lasted for at least 16 years. The survey research has also revealed that almost one half of the respondents experience to be under a threat of the burnout syndrom or perceive themselves to undergo its implications already. Discussion, recommendation and conclusion are another parts of the practical section. Recommendation takes focus on the pedagogues themselves, needs of...

Psychosocial working load of nurses and social workers. Quantitative survey.
STEHLÍKOVÁ, Kateřina
I deal with problems of psychosocial working load of nurses and social workers in this final bachelor thesis. As usual the bachelor thesis is divided into a theoretical part and practical one. In the theoretical part I focused on a loading characteristic, on its types, on individual load situations. Furthermore some notions are described here such as working load, psychosocial load. I did not forget to apply herself to a nursing concept, nurse profession and as well to a social work characteristic and social worker profession. In the practical part I focused on a rate deduction of psychosocial working load and on identification of causes of psychosocial working load of nurses and social workers. A questioning method by the help of a non-standardized questionnaire was used to detect set targets. I have made up the questionnaire on the basis of my own experience and personal assumptions. The group of questioned people was formed by nurses and social workers from South Moravian Region, district Znojmo. The results have been arranged into a diagram. The research has proved that in both professions it is possible to identify the rate and causes of psychosocial working load. By choosing of this theme I wanted to pint out to psychosocial working load which nurses and social workers are daily accompanied by. This work has brought me a lot of information and thinking about these problems. I hope that it will also benefit nurses, social workers and as well their supervisors. Thinking about these problems could lead many people to a solution or even elimination of some issues connected with this given theme.
Psychosocial load at work of nurses and social workers
KUŘÁTKOVÁ, Lucie
The Thesis deals with the questions of psychosocial load at work for nurses and social workers. The Thesis is divided into two sections. The theoretical part deals with definitions of terms like caring professions, load and stress, then load at work and psychosocial load. There is also a brief characteristic of the professions of a nurse and a social worker. The aim of the empiric part was to find out on a selected sample of respondents (i.e. nurses and social workers) how the respondents perceive the character of their psychosocial load at work and whether they are at risk of burnout syndrome, to find out whether nurses or social workers perceive the psychosocial load more intensely and whether there is a difference in the risk of burnout syndrome between them. A quantitative questioning method and questionnaire technique were applied on data collection and processing in the research part of the Thesis. An anonymous questionnaire was used for the investigation. The questionnaire preparation was based on a questionnaire provided by my thesis guide. The original questionnaire was more extensive and was only designed for nurses, which was why I had to select suitable items and add some special items applicable on nurses as well as social workers. The questionnaire consisted mainly of closed questions where the respondents chose from five answers the one best corresponding with their own opinion. I set 3 hypotheses before starting the research itself. The questionnaire answers were processed both, manually by means of the stroke method and by a statistic programme SPSS. Segment and bar graphs in Microsoft Office Excel were used for graphical interpretation of the results. After evaluation of the questionnaire research results I found out that the previously set hypothesis H1 suggesting that nurses and social workers perceive various elements of their psychosocial load differently, was confirmed, hypothesis H2 suggesting that nurses are more loaded by the work with patients/clients than social workers was not confirmed, and hypothesis H3 suggesting that nurses are at higher risk of burnout syndrome than social workers was confirmed. The results of my thesis may serve to inform general public as well as professionals on the problems in question. They may also serve as a possible incentive for managerial staff to pay higher attention to the problems of psychosocial load at work among caring professions at individual medical care facilities. The results may also serve as a base for further studies and research in the field.
The nurses´ turnover into other professions on the labour market
SOVOVÁ, Zuzana
The profession of general nurse is very demanding. The International Labour Organisation and World Health Organisation believe it to be one of the riskiest jobs. Having completed difficult studies nurses often leave their jobs for other positions due to insufficient financial reward which is inadequate to the physical and mental load. The issue of lack of nurses emerged in the Czech Republic as early as before 2004. This situation worsened after the country{\crq}s association with the European Union because nurses began to use the free movement of persons on the labour market. They find work in more attractive industries which are not so demanding in personal and working life. Workers cannot keep up with a pace of work for a long time, unless their mental and physical health is properly looked after. Overloading often results in dissatisfaction and fluctuations. This diploma thesis maps the level of general nurses' departures to other professions on the labour market, which are listed in particular. The survey carried out is quantitative. It employs the method of enquiring persons by means of anonymous questionnaires. The results entail that the level of fluctuations shows a rising tendency. This is caused mainly by low financial remuneration and the impact upon the family and personal life. Possible solutions may include higher salary, higher social respect, saturation of the lack of personnel, application of fundraising, supervisions or employee benefits. It is essential to emphasise the prevention during professional studies. I have chosen the topic of general nurses{\crq} fluctuations mainly because it is a highly charged issue and because I felt that it was necessary to point out a problem that I experienced myself. As modern nursing care is developing, the demands for medical staff are increasing; unfortunately this is not in proportion to the amount of prevention devoted to the issue of workload. I attempted to outline the causes of nurses{\crq} fluctuations and mention also possible ways of preventing the outflow of nurses from this strenuous, yet beautiful and socially irreplaceable job.
Psychosomatic stress of nurses on surgery
FIALOVÁ, Lenka
This bachelor work deals with aspects of professional load of peri-operative nurses in the somatic and psychic point of view. The aim of this work was to identify the most frequent proofs of psychosomatic loads of nurses in the operating theatre. The aim was fulfilled. Two hypotheses were set. Hypothesis number 1 confirms that the most frequent proof of somatic load of the nurses in the operating theatre is backache problem. Hypothesis number 2 confirms that the most frequent proof of psychic load of nurses in the operating theatre is stress. The results also show that the theme of somatic and psychic load of peri-operative nurses is an up-to-date topic which is necessary to inform about. As a recommendation for the employers it would be suitable to enable nurses to get to know different relaxing techniques, to contribute to free-time sport and cultural activities which could help to reduce professional stress at peri-operative nurses.
Evaluation of psychosocial pressure of nursing work by the means of working conditions analysis
JANEČEK, Josef
This analysis is about a psychosocial workload of people working as nurses. The first aim of this analysis was to ascertain if it is possible to identify such a psychosocial workload of nurses. The second aim was to find out if there is a higher psychosocial workload for nurses working at a standard ward or for nurses working at Intensive Care Ward (JIP) and Anaesthesia -Resuscitation Ward (ARO). I have used a SSF questionnaire (Subjective Symptoms of Fatigue) for exhaustive description of that issue. The questionnaire contains 51 questions and was divided into 3 parts. The first part of the questionnaire focuses on appraisal of the psychosocial workload concerning the assessment of working conditions. In the second part I have focused on the assessment of the workload of nurses and the third part surveys tiredness of nurses. I have addressed nurses working at FN Plzeň (Teaching hospital in Pilsen), regional hospital in Příbram and hospital in Stod. I have surveyed nurses working at a standard surgery ward, standard internal medicine ward, surgery Intensive Care Ward (JIP), internal Intensive Care Ward (JIP), and Anaesthesia -Resuscitation Ward (ARO). My research demonstrates the fact that there exists a psychosocial workload for people who are working as nurses. It has also proved the hypothesis that the psychosocial workload for people who are working as nurses can be identified. The results of this research have also shown the fact that nurses working at a standard ward suffer from lower psychosocial workload than nurses working at Intensive Care Ward (JIP) and Anaesthesia -Resuscitation Ward (ARO). It is obvious that nurses working at Intensive Care Ward (JIP) and Anaesthesia -Resuscitation Ward (ARO) suffer from a higher psychosocial workload. On the other hand I have to add that some differences of the results describing work of nurses working at a standard ward and nurses working at Intensive Care Ward (JIP) and Anaesthesia -Resuscitation Ward (ARO) are not so striking in some graphs.
