Hrazdil, Jiří ; Weiss, Petr (referee) ; Rychlý, Marek (advisor)
The aim of this thesis was to get acquainted with principles and basics of Jabber/XMPP communication network and its open-source implementations, learn about Google web search application interface and implement a robot, which will respond to search queries sent via XMPP protocol with adequate search results acquired through SOAP.
Google searches and financial markets: IPOs and uncertainty
Vakrman, Tomáš ; Krištoufek, Ladislav (advisor) ; Novák, Jiří (referee)
This thesis studies how the investor attention proxied by Google search volume affects different aspects of market behavior. My results show that a surge in online attention is associated with an increase in trading activity and stock price volatility, but no effect is detected for daily returns. Yet, if market sentiment is taken into account, the relationship comes to the surface for returns as well. The returns tend to decrease with attention hikes in negative sentiment periods and the opposite is observed for periods of positive sentiment, suggesting that Google web search captures predominately attention of sentiment investors. Moreover, I demonstrate that with the outburst of financial crisis, the interdependence between attention and trading activity was intensified. Lastly, I provide evidence that web search may shed some light on IPO-related puzzles. The initial returns seem to be higher for IPOs that receive above average attention, and are likely to be reversed in long-term. In addition, it is ascertained that web search volume may act as a proxy for market overreaction to the offerings. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Slučování dat a evoluční optimalizace dotazu pro sofistikované vyhledávání
Húsek, Dušan ; Keyhanipour, A. ; Krömer, P. ; Moshiri, B. ; Owais, S. ; Snášel, V.
An innovative meta-search engine named WebFusion has been presented. The search system learns the expertness of every particular underlying search engine in a certain category based on the users' preferences according to an analysis of click-through behavior. In addition, an intelligent reranking method based on ordered weighted averaging (OWA) was introduced. The re-ranking method was used to fuse the results' scores of the underlying search engines. Independently, a progressive application of evolutionary computing to optimize Boolean search queries in crisp and fuzzy information retrieval systems was investigated, evaluated in laboratory environment and presented. In this paper we describe proposed incorporation of these two innovative recent methods founding an advanced Internet search application.
Problems of information search on the Internet
Janů, Tomáš ; Sklenák, Vilém (advisor) ; Šubrta, Václav (referee)
This thesis adverts to the inadequacies and impediments which can be met by an ordinary user of the internet when searching for information. The process of searching itself represents an interaction between the request given by a user and the result displayed by a search engine. The result might be in a form of URL address of a concrete web page, picture, product, location etc. Some of the problems, which are described in detail in the thesis, are for example relevance and freshness of the search result, separation of global and local result, spam in the results or problems connected to the searching in the online maps. There is an emphasis on the local market, respectively on the Czech user, in the thesis. Furthermore, it focuses on the freshness of all data and on a practical sample in a picture form. The important data and statistics are recorded in the well-arranged tables and graphs. Among others, many interesting information and observations can be found in the thesis. These information and observations are marked with the blue arrow (->).
