Heat recovery in crypto-currency mining
Ošmera, Tomáš ; Pech, Ondřej (referee) ; Klimeš, Lubomír (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the use of residual waste heat from cryptocurrency mining. Due to the high inefficiency of the so-called ASIC mining equipment, almost all of the electrical energy is converted into heat. This paper deals with the possibilities of using and building equipment to dissipate this heat. The device constructed takes advantage of the dielectric properties of the oil from which the heat is removed to the heating system of the house. Using the constructed device it is possible to supply 800-900 W of thermal energy to the heating system of the house.

This diploma thesis deals with heating and cooling of an administrative building with a cafe. The thesis is divided into three parts – theoretical, practical and experimental. The theoretical part deals with large-scale heating and cooling systems. Ceiling heating and cooling systems are described with their advantages and disadvantages. Another topic which is described are the types of hydraulic connection of the system. The practical part is devoted to the actual design of the heating and cooling of an administrative building with a cafe. This part deals with two options of the proposal. In both of these variants, an air/water heat pump is designed as a source of heat and cold. As a first option, heating and cooling are designed using ceiling active plasterboard panels and radiators. In the second variant, a system with heating elements is designed for heating and fancoil under-ceiling units are designed for cooling. The experimental part deals with measurements, which are focused on a ceiling panel used for heating and cooling. The measurement deals with determining the properties of a single ceiling panel. The role of this measurement was to determine the pressure losses at different flow rates, peak performance and efficiency of this ceiling panel.

The Diploma thesis deals with the design of the hot water rating system and with the preparation of the hot water in the mountain guestshouse. The theoretical part describes boiler for the pellets combustion and includes requirements on the services and installation. This part also describes some necessary accessories of the boiler, types of the fuel and the two main methods of the determination of the operational efficiency. The calculation part deals with the design of the heating system by the plate radiators, design of the hot water preparation, photovoltaics, forced ventilation and with the design of the necessary technical equipment. The source of the heating energy will be designed in two variants. In the first variant will be the boiler for the pellets combustion source. In the second variant will be two hanging gas condensing boilers connected with the cascade connecting which are the source of the heating energy. The last part of the Diploma thesis describes the experimental measurement where was taken the measurement of the operational efficiency of the boiler for the pellets combustion.
Energy-efficient hotel building in Karviná
Segeďa, Petr ; Rubinová, Olga (referee) ; Počinková, Marcela (advisor)
The aim of the master’s thesis is to design an energy-efficient hotel in Karviná. In the first part, an architectural and structural solution was proposed. The building has three above-ground storeys. The structural system was designed as structural frame with beams and slabs, made of reinforced concrete. The material of external wall is aerated concrete blocks insulated with the ETICS with poly. The roof is flat. There are 40 thermal collectors and 69 photovoltaics panels. On the first floor, there are four guest rooms, a restaurant, a kitchen, a reception, toilets, a utility room, a mechanical room, and facilities for employees. The guest rooms are located on the second and third floor. HVAC was designed in the second part. Heating is provided by two heat pumps. The first heat pump provides domestic hot water in the winter, heating with radiators, for air handling unit heaters and cooling in the summer. The second heat pump is used only for floor heating in the winter. In the building are designed four air handling units for the kitchen, the restaurant and two for the guest rooms. Rainwater from the roof is collected in accumulation tank for flushing the toilets. In the third part, I evaluated the calculation of energy performance certificate in two softwares, namely Energie 2021 and DEKSOFT. The aim to find out, why the results are different in these softwares. The Drawings were done in ArchiCAD. The calculation part was made in Excel.

Energy use of the facade
Salajka, Radek ; Rubinová, Olga (referee) ; Rubina, Aleš (advisor)
The main motive of this master's thesis is expanding awareness of ventilated facades and their use and comparison with external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS). I mention this in theoretical research. As an expansion to theory and a key theme of this thesis is a description of individual physical events present on the facade and in it's ventilated gap based on data output from measurement. The data gathering was made by a group of professionals who have done an on-point facade measurement on a real ventilated facade throughout a year - more detail in text. I personally have been a part of a research team and I describe my work and research in detail in the third part of this master's thesis - experimental part. In practical part I devote myself to use our new knowledge on a given building. More precisely - I use numerical calculations to present energy use of of given facade in comparison with ETICS on the same building with the same boundary conditions.
Long-term Sustainability of Combined Production of Heat and Electricity in Small and Medium-sized Heatplants Areas
EIGNER, Josef
Main goal of this work is to determine the factors having the greatest impact on the long-term sustainability of small and medium-sized heat plant systems by using financial analysis tools and applying technical-economic indicators. Heat plant systems are characterized as network monopolies, so in the financial analysis the individual indicators are evaluated with regard to the specific characteristics of this energy sector. The technical-economic analysis focuses on the method of electricity and heat production primarily in order to find out trends in profitability of both of these business activities. The way of using emission allowances of the EU ETS system is also examined, together with its impact on the economy of a company. The long-term sustainability assessment of heat plant systems is based on the ability to generate profit while selling heat for a competitive price. The price competitiveness is determined by comparison with average prices issued by the national market regulator.
