On the motivation to study nursing at university

The bachelor's thesis entitled ''On motivation to study nursing at university'' deals with the motivation of students of General and Pediatric nursing. Objectives: The aim of this study is to find out the motivation of the respondents, students of the bachelor study program for the preparation of general nurses to study at the university. In the theoretical part of the bachelor's thesis, individual chapters related to the given issue are elaborated. Key terms such as motivation and motives are described, and the study marginally deals with the history of higher education in nursing, the current education of general nurses and related legislation. The empirical part of the study presents the results of the own research and their comparison with the results of studies on the same or similar topic. Methods: In order to achieve the aim of work, a questionnaire survey was carried out, the target group of which was students of the 2nd and 3rd years of General and Pediatric Nursing. 246 completed questionnaires were included in the survey itself. Results: Based on the statistical evaluation of the data, it was found that 43,09 % of respondents are studying because of the need for a degree to practice their profession, and 64,23 % of respondents are also working while studying. 76,02 % of the respondents...

Attitude and Motivation of Nurses to Lifelong Learning

This bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of nurses' motivation for lifelong learning and their awareness of this topic. Target: The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to find out whether nurses have an overview of the individual forms of lifelong education of non-medical healthcare workers, whether and how they are motivated to participate in them, and what factors prevent them from participating in lifelong education programs. Methods: A questionnaire containing 22 questions was distributed electronically to the nurses. A total of 493 questionnaires were processed of which 348 general nurses, 70 children's nurses, 58 practical nurses, 8 midwives and 8 paramedics participated in the survey. The non-parametric statistical method Pearson's Chi-square was used for statistical data processing. Results: The results show that nurses' knowledge of individual programs and forms of lifelong learning varies depending on their age, length of professional practice and educational attainment. Nurses' interest in participating in lifelong learning programs decreases with increasing age and length of practice and is influenced by workload resulting from staff shortages. History and development of intensive care

The thesis deals with the history and development of intensive care with emphasis on the Czech lands. Its aim is to describe the historical development of intensive care and nursing in the Czech lands with an emphasis on aspects (such as new techniques, devices, etc.) that have determined this process. The core of the thesis consists of three main chapters. The first one establishes the basic premises of the work, focusing on the definition of intensive care, the history of medicine, and nursing. The second main chapter analyzes the beginnings of intensive care in an international context, emphasizing the influence of Florence Nightingale on the emergence of intensive care and the reflection of her work in the Czech lands. The third chapter describes the history and development of intensive care and nursing in the Czech lands, with this exposition being divided into chronologically arranged subchapters. The thesis is primarily based on historical sources (primarily contemporary publications and journal articles reflecting the discourse of the time) and professional literature. The communist Czechoslovakia period is reflected as an important period when contact between Czechoslovak medicine and Western knowledge was significantly limited, and intensive care as well as nursing were heavily ideologically conditioned, leading to lagging behind the West in many aspects.

Nursing students' perceptions of their future professions

Data were collected using semi-structured interviews. Informant selection was random, based on the study of General Nursing through full-time and part-time study. Informants were chosen using the snowball sampling method. A total of 10 informants from the South Bohemian region participated in the research. The conducted interviews were recorded, transcribed verbatim, and analyzed. As part of open coding, 4 categories, 11 subcategories, and 53 codes were defined.

The importance of basal stimulation in patient care in the Department of Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation

The bachelor thesis includes the use of the concept of basal stimulation at the Anesthesiology and resuscitation ward and the specifics of nursing care of the patient in this ward. It deals with the application of the concept of basal stimulation in the Department of Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation. The concept of basal stimulation was developed by educator Andreas Fröhlich in the 20th century during his research project as a doctoral student. He proved that the most important thing is the stimulation of the so-called basal senses. This concept serves to support human perception and communication. It is based on scientific knowledge of the neurophysiological development of the child. The concept was first applied in the care of children with severe congenital disabilities. It is now being applied in palliative and intensive care, social services and psychiatric nursing. The aim of this study is to find out what elements of basal Stimulation are used in different hospitals in the ARO in the nursing care of the patient. For the research investigation, the ARO at the Pelhřimov Hospital and the České Budějovice Hospital were selected. For the practical part, two research questions were set. The first one describes the importance of basal stimulation in patient care in ARO and the second question deals with the applied elements of BS in Hospital Pelhřimov and Hospital České Budějovice. According to the data analysis, two categories and seven subcategories were created. From the research survey it was found that all respondents perceived the importance of basal stimulation applied in ARO very positively, and they try to apply this concept in their nursing care of patients. In the research investigation, it was found that the respondents agree on most of the applied elements and the most used element is the initiating touch.

Nursing care for women after breast gland operations

This bachelor's thesis, entitled "Nursing care for women after breast gland operations," investigates the provision of care to women following oncological diseases. The research draws on interviews with nurses who deliver this care, focusing on those employed in surgical departments, oncology clinics, and general practitioners' clinics for adults. The theoretical framework of the thesis concentrates on nursing care post-surgery and the ensuing convalescent care, incorporating anatomical basics and preoperative care into its scope. The objectives of the study were to ascertain the role of the nurse in patient care following breast surgery, to identify specific aspects of postoperative care, and to define the nurse's role during the convalescence period. The empirical section of the thesis employs qualitative research methods, specifically semi-structured interviews with nurses working in the aforementioned departments. Ten nurses participated in this study: five from surgical departments, three from oncology clinics, and two from a general practitioner's clinic. Findings reveal the processes involved in nursing care, detailing preoperative, postoperative, and long-term care from the perspective of nurses. Further insights were gained into the educational activities performed by nurses and the psychological aspects of patient care, as reported by the nurses. The study also highlights current shortcomings in patient care and explores potential future alternatives. Recommendations for future practice emphasize the importance for nurses to engage with emerging knowledge in the care of patients with oncological conditions.

The nurse's role in the care of clients with schizophrenic disorders.

The empirical part of the thesis is processed by means of qualitative research with the technique of semi-structured interview. Subsequently, the data generated was processed using open coding, pencil paper method where the data was divided into five categories and eighteen sub-categories. The research population consisted of a total of 10 informants. They were nurses providing care to persons with schizophrenia disorders in inpatient acute, follow-up, as well as outpatient and community psychiatric care settings. The health care experience of these informants ranged from 2 to 30 years. The research population was selected by purposive sampling.

When the general nurse is a man...

In the upcoming years, the healthcare and social system in the Czech Republic is expected to encounter a significant surge in the deficit of general nurses due to the anticipated retirements. One of the strategies that could help mitigate the impacts of the expected shortage of healthcare professionals in this area of expertise is to attract more men to pursue careers in nursing. This thesis examines the subject of integration of men into teams predominantly composed of women in intensive care units. The aim of the thesis is to determine how alterations in the gender composition of initially exclusively female teams impact the processes related to group dynamics. Interim objectives included finding a suitable strategy to facilitate men's entry into teams predominantly composed of women, as well as identifying the abilities and skills through which men could improve the current provision of nursing care. With information obtained in this manner, we should be able to implement appropriate measures that support not just the recruitment but also the retention of new employees. The key challenge in this area will be to guarantee transparency and equal conditions for both women and men who will choose to work in this area of expertise. Requirements for accepting travel nurse in hospital care

v AJ: The theis focuses on a new potential role for nurses in a hospital facility. The traveling nurse is a healthcare professional who works at the location of current need. I tis only about the nurse position within healthcare facilities. The aim of the thesis was to determine the conditions that a traveling nurse should fulfill to be accepted in a hospital facility. For the reseach part were used questionaries supported by the semi-structured interviews. The research results indicate that in order to be positively accepted, a traveling nurse should fulfill the requirements of the legislative education for nurses in the Czech Republic. Along with this, sufficient practical knowledge and familiarity with nursing care are also necessary. Desired characteristics of a traveling nurse include mainly communication, flexibility, teamwork, and empathy. The results also revealed that in order for the traveling nurse to work effectively, it is necessary to establish conditions and define boundaries under which the traveling nurse will operate in the healthcare facility. Patients' rights from the perspective of patients

The bachelor thesis is dedicated to patients' rights including nursing. Patients have several rights that relate to their health care and privacy. These rights include the right to information about their health and treatment and freedom to choose their doctor and health care facility, the right to privacy and protection of personal data, the right to respect one's religious and cultural practices, the right to basic hygiene and privacy during hospitalisation, the right to fair and equal treatment without discrimination, and many others. These rights are protected by health care laws and regulations, and patients can request to have them respected if they are violated. It is important that patients are informed about their rights and that they are allowed to actively use them so that they can receive quality health care and respect for their rights. The aim of this thesis is to find out the awareness of patients about their rights and to find out the compliance of selected rights from the patient's perspective. The aim has been achieved through quantitative research which includes a questionnaire of my own design. The research was conducted in regional hospitals among patients who were fully oriented. The results of the research will be used by the management of health service delivery for optimization of health care and for health professionals and for the students of nursing.
