In the footsteps of the secondary vocational school in Pisek

The topic of the Bachelor Thesis is the mapping of history and evolution of vocational schools in the town of Písek. It aims to find out in what ways vocational training was realised, what were the initial fields of preference and what fields were preserved throughout the 20th century and beyond. The theoretical part is aimed at the historical development of vocational schools in Bohemia from the second half of the 18th century to date. The Thesis elaborates in multiple chapters on the impact two world wars had on vocational schools, how the system survived normalisation era and ultimately, what changes it went through following the year 1989. The practical part deals with the founding of Vocational School in Písek and its historical development from founding to date. The Thesis uses primary sources, chronicles and archives of the school as its sources. For the purposes of the Thesis, content analysis of archives and primary sources has been conducted. A qualitative research consisting of personal interviews with school alumni and students has further been conducted.
Why Apprenticeship? The Choice of Secondary Vocational Schools among First Year Apprentices and their Attitudes towards the School and Education

(in English) This thesis deals with the choice of the Czech secondary vocational schools. Through a description of important theoretical approaches connected to the education and a study of the Czech educational system, the paper is getting to the analysis based on qualitative interviews analysed in compliance with the grounded theory approach. Through these interviews the process of choosing the secondary school and the relationship to the chosen school is described. In this part also the data from OECD PISA 2012 are used to provide an additional context. It is argued that the choice done by the apprentices is significantly limited and that the main source of such limits is social. These conclusions are connected with overall context of the Czech highly differentiated educational system. Czech apprenticeship at a crossroads

Diploma thesis "Czech apprenticeship at a crossroads" deals with the controversial topic of apprenticeship. Thesis is based on theoretical concepts of educational reproduction, positive functions of diversified educational systems, lifelong learning and problem delimitation in public policy. It brings the international perspective viewpoint and identifies strengths and weaknesses of different systems. Author looks into causes and consequences of negative phenomena while trying to understand different positions of employers and apprentices. Key areas are based on the delimited problem. These areas are: sole system of vocational education, which favors students with higher socioeconomic background; career guidance field, whose role in the process of decision making of students entering apprenticeship is small; the area of cooperation with social partners, which is crucial in enhancing the quality of apprenticeship. Author introduces possible ways of political change in these areas. DECISION MAKING PROCESS OF STUDENTS'CHOICE OF APPRENTICESHIP AS A TYPE OF EDUCATIONAL PATHWAY

This bachelor thesis is focused on decision making process of students from working-class families' choice of apprenticeship as a type of educational pathway. The theory part outlines the main problems connected with the contemporary Czech apprenticeship, and then places the issue of choice of apprenticeship into the context of the reproduction of educational inequalities and introduces main theoretical approaches to the study of educational inequalities and their reproduction. On the basis of research based on qualitative method of understanding interviews then shows that apprenticeship are perceived by students from working-class families as an advantageous, compared to other educational pathways completely equivalent, and therefore in many ways rational choice. Students from working-class families consider the apprenticeships of secondary vocational schools as a mediator which would enable them to pursue a specifically defined profession, while their main advantage is seen in their practical focus.
History, evolution and present state of apprenticeship

The bachelor thesis deserites the history, the development and the present of the apprenticeship during three centuries. This thesis presents the transformation of the vocational schools at the secondary school. The first historical trail engages in these issues more generally. The second part of the work deals with the emergence of the former railway school at České Velenice and its conversion into the secondary school. At the same time it shows gradually increasing the guality of teaching technical subjects and school. The work presents the examples of cooperation between the teacher and the pupil in the implementation of the project.
Analyse of impacts of tax deduction on apprentices education

Over the last 20 years we have been experiencing permanently decreasing number of vocational schools students. This situation affects by its results also the entrepreneurs, who needs the vocational schools graduates to it's activities. Czech govenment was aware of this problem and tried and still try to solve them. One of the realized solutions was implementation of tax deduction of education of apprentices. This tax deduction subsisted in 2001-2007. This work is engaged in analyse of impacts of this tax deduction on number of vocational schools students. The analyse was performed in letter of evaluation of statistical data and interpretation of data from questionaire sent to picked entrepreneurs.
