Kočer, Ondřej ; Turková, Kateřina (advisor) ; Hrbáčková, Anna (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the view of Czech internet debaters on doping in the Tour de France race through the analysis of discussions on two Czech internet news servers. The aim of this thesis is to find out how much the discussions under articles deal with the topic of doping, which topics do the main comments refer to, to point out possible differences in the discussions on both servers and, last but not least, to map how the discussants view the topic of doping. The thesis contains a theoretical part describing basic facts about elite cycling, the race itself, the role of doping in sport and internet discussions. The practical part consists of quantitative and qualitative research, specifically quantitative and qualitative content analysis, where the author uses a coding book and a priori coding to analyze articles related to the Tour de France 2022, discussions related to them and the content of main comments, resp. their relevance to the topic of doping. The result of the research is the obtained data, which help the author to answer predetermined research questions regarding the differences in the discussions on both servers, the amount of comments about doping in the discussions and the debaters' opinion on doping in cycling.

All the races introduced were first opened before World War I. as it was the main criteria when choosing which races to include. The thesis covers races that took place in France and Italy. The thesis focuses on races that are continuing to exist to this day and it maps how the role of specific media changed in the organizational process of these races. Important is the description of the media that took part in organizing these races. Crucial are data such as the year when the newspaper was founded, which races it opened specifically and whether the number of copies produced grew following the cycling boom at the beginning of the 20th century. FIALA, L. (2020): Tour de France: The effects of the geographical features of the race and stages on the results of the best cyclists and their change over time. Diploma thesis, Prague: Charles University, Faculty of Science, 152 pp. The diploma thesis deals with Tour de France, a three-week bicycle race whose first edition was in 1903. The work's goal is to analyse the evolution of the most important cycling race in the world after the World War II in terms of its geographical features, which affect the performance of racers, and so to differentiate successful cyclists based on their qualities on one hand and identify those parts of the race (stages) that are crucial to success, on the other hand. Another goal of the thesis is to find out how the influence of geographical conditions on performance changes over time and whether and how the categories (types) of cyclist change in this context. The work is consisted into two parts: the theoretical-methodological part and the analysis of the subject of interest. The theoretical and methodological part is based on the approaches and knowledge of sport geography, while it is almost impossible to rely on real research publications devoting to cycling and stage races. The relevant literature dealing with stage races, the Grand Tour and especially the Tour...

Tomíček, Matěj ; Němcová Tejkalová, Alice (advisor) ; Macková, Veronika (referee)
The thesis "Development in media reflection of cycling race Tour de France in daily newspaper Mladá fronta DNES and in Czech Television in 2010-2015" deals with the world's most famous cycling race and the way it is presented in selected Czech media. It summarizes the basic information about the history of the race and outlines how Tour de France was referred to during given years. Based on a qualitative content analysis, the thesis also examines the news routines that appear in the output, focusing on how the production is affected by the so-called couch journalism and if the results are influenced by the journalists being fans themselves. These phenomena are examined considering six individual Tour de France races. The analyzed media include Mladá fronta DNES and Czech Television, two media flagships, as far as referring to Tour de France is concerned. One of the sources for the practical and theoretical part of this thesis are also interviews with Tomáš Jílek - reporter from Czech Television - and Tomáš Macek - reporter from Mladá fronta DNES.
