Censuses of people, houses and flats in Czech Republic
Antovová, Michaela ; Langhamrová, Jitka (advisor) ; Kozelský, Tomáš (referee)
The thesis is focused on development of censuses on the territory of Czech lands from Middle Ages to present. The definition of census is given. Censuses up to the first half of 18th century are concisely characterized. The most important censuses of that period are the population census concerning belief from 1651, the first register in the country, and the tax register, made mainly for the purpose of the tax collection. Censuses of the period of Marie Therese and Joseph II's rule are introduced too. The year 1869 is supposed to be an important turning point as the first modern census was held. Population censuses in the period from 1880 to 1910 were based on the same principles, there were only slight changes. There was no census during the Great War. The subsequent census was organized in 1921 in the independent republic. The method and the procedure were adapted to the new situation. Established data were important for the future development of the Czechoslovak Republic. Regularity of censuses was interrupted during the World War II. However, it was renewed in 1950. There were no substantial changes in the following years. Data were based on contemporary needs. Technology became more sophisticated and simplified the process of census. There were organized two censuses in the Czech Republic in 2001 and 2011. The last census was held within a European framework, all EU countries are supposed to keep particular standards concerning census sheets and hand in the results by the fixed deadline. There are time sequences of selected indexes representing census results and their analysis in the last part of the thesis. Census historical development review is significant for understanding census as a constantly developed instrument and for its further improvement.
Analysis of selected commodities from investor's point of view
Škultéty, Daniel ; Trešl, Jiří (advisor) ; Václavík, Tomáš (referee)
The purpose of this thesis is to analyze investment options into wheat, corn and rice futures throughout different time horizons. Mostly we use daily closing prices for the last fifteen years. General knowledge of the field in context of nowadays is required to perform such an analysis. To achieve our goals we use technical analysis, time series analysis and we discuss the fundaments of price movements. Contribution of this thesis can be summed as presenting the basic tools of technical analysis in real world, presenting the fundamentals of price movements in one place and practical application of time series analysis on futures prices. By doing so we can confirm that random walk thesis is not unsubstantial but cannot be generalized for all instruments and periods of capital market.
USE OF STATISTICAL METHODS IN THE BUSINESS VALUATION
Zelenka, Martin ; Zimmermann, Pavel (advisor) ; Sedakov, Vladimir (referee)
The aim of this paper is to outline the possibility of application of statistical methods for business valuation. This paper provides a basic overview of the subject in particular mathematical statistical point of view. The first chapter contains an introduction to the field of business valuation are presented valuation areas where it is possible to use different statistical methods. In the following parts of my work it is possible to find a description of methods and a brief description of the problem. The work is mainly focused on the analysis of time series. At the end of the theoretical part of the time series analysis problems of application of regression models are mentioned as well as the difficulties of its application practice. Potential solutions of these problems are mentioned. The final chapter is devoted to practical demonstration of application of the proposed methods on real data for a selected company. The work presents unique suitability of statistical methods in business valuation and demonstrates their practical application.

Attendance of the Zoological Garden in Jihlava
Královská, Radka ; Hudík, Marek (advisor) ; Lahvička, Jiří (referee)
In this work I investigated the influence of selected factors on attendance of the Zoological Garden in Jihlava in the years 2001-2010. Each time series of monthly visitors were subjected to econometric analysis to determine the influence of explanatory variables on attendance. The work leads to the conclusion that attendance is significantly affected by air temperature, which was confirmed in all four models studied. Neither rainfall nor the price of admission didn't confirm the influence on the attendance of the Zoo, which may be due to low number of observations. The most significant impact on attendance had months of April and November, while other months were found to be very important in terms of attendance Zoo Jihlava.
Scoring system and the statistics of accidents in road transport Czech Republic
Matějková, Jitka ; Arltová, Markéta (advisor) ; Růžková, Jiřina (referee)
This thesis gives an overview of the principles of a points system for evaluating the drivers (point system) and statistics of accidents in road transport of the Czech Republic.. The operating principle of the points system is supplemented by graphical analysis of drivers who have received some penalty point and also overview of European countries with similar systems. The thesis contains the results of public research on the topic "point system". At the conclusion of this thesis is an analysis of time series of basic indicators of accidents on the roads of the Czech Republic supplemented by analysis of the impact point system for accident and its consequences on people's lives.
Financial and statistical analysis of success of chosen companies
Chaloupková, Šárka ; Löster, Tomáš (advisor) ; Mazouch, Petr (referee)
This thesis refers to an assessment of the stability of two comparable companies. Statistical methods bring out reasons for different process in this companies. Chosen statistical methods include analysis of time series and ratio analysis. These two methods are based on separating of ratios into components and analysing them. The end of the thesis informs about stability of compenies and offers a solution in case of financial collapse.
Econometric analysis of inflation in the Czech Republic
Demeš, Jiří ; Hušek, Roman (advisor) ; Pánková, Václava (referee)
The degree work is focused on analysis of inflation with help of suitable econometric models. Inflation with it's forms and possibilities of measuring is described at the beginning of the paper. There is mentioned an importance of monitoring and analysing inflation in view of Czech national bank. Consequently there are described characteristics of time series, which are important from viewpoint of construction of econometric models. Next part of this paper is focused on characterization of econometrics models. At first there is vector autoregression model, in this connection there is discussed the essence of Granger causality and impulse reaction. There are also noticed both error correction model and vector error correction model. The empirical part of degree work involves the use of these models on selected macroeconomic time series of the Czech republic. The objective is to analyze the relationship between inflation and other individual macroeconomic quantities. There is established the optimal vector autoregressive model and the results of Granger causality and impulse reaction are interpretated. Both error correction model and vector error correction model examining cointegration are also applied.
Transmission mechanism of Monetary Policy of the Federal Reserve System
Petříková, Eva ; Jílek, Josef (advisor) ; Potužák, Pavel (referee)
This thesis analyses the chief relations inside the transmission mechanism of the monetary policy of the U.S. Federal Reserve System during the period from 1955 to 2007. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the principles of the history of Federal Reserve and his monetary policy, the development of Fed's monetary policy and its transmission mechanism, the lags in the monetary policy and various theories which deal with try to explain the monetary policy relations. In the analytical part I focus on answering the most laid questions whether, how much and for how long do the nominal interest rates and monetary aggregates affect the real variables (mainly the real domestic product) of the United States. Next I focus on investigating the monetarist assumption of money neutrality in the long run. I also introduce Granger causality and Impulse and Responses investigations into proposed VAR model.
