The conclusion of the thesis summarizes the results of the numerical simulations and performs an economic evaluation of the proposed heat storage.
Passively discharged industrial sand heat accumulator
Urbánek, Štěpán ; Kudela, Libor (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
This thesis focuses on thermal energy storage in granular materials, primarily sand. The first part introduces the concept of thermal energy storage in granular materials, the structural design of this energy storage method, and its implementation. Subsequently, a concept of a passively discharged thermal energy storage system is developed for the premises of building C3 in the VUT FSI campus. Based on this concept, a detailed structural design is created, which is finally subjected to verification of temperature states. Finally, a technical and economic evaluation is performed.
Thermal properties of bio-materials for heat accumulation during phase transformations
Dvorská, Adéla ; Mravcová, Ludmila (referee) ; Řezáčová, Veronika (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis focuses on the study of the thermal properties of natural substances that may exhibit phase change material (bio-PCMs) characteristics and could be used in construction. The aim of this thesis is to conduct literature research on materials with the potential for heat accumulation during phase changes, analyse selected bio-materials using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and comprehensively process and evaluate the obtained results. In the experimental part of this thesis, a total of 23 substances were analysed. Based on the DSC analysis results, potentially suitable bio-PCMs were selected. These materials were further studied in terms of their response to changes in temperature conditions and their short-term stability.
Testing of binders of thermal insulations for specific applications on technical appliances
Maňák, Jan ; Kulísek, Karel (referee) ; Petránek, Vít (advisor)
This work focus on testing alcali-activated binders for thermal insulation which could be used for special industry devices. In the beginning of this work is presented example of thermal energy storage where these specific alcali-activated materials can be used. Ensuingly two construction with thermal energy storage tanks are mentioned. Most of the interest aims on ageing and rheological properties of alcali-activated binder. Some rheological methods are also discussed. In the end of this work is added practical experience.
Design optimization of packed bed for thermal energy storage
Waste heat recovery in a laundry care process
Križan, Andrej ; Bobák, Petr (referee) ; Vondra, Marek (advisor)
Main purpose of this thesis is to explain the issue of waste heat from broader point of view. It´s substantial part therefore deals with various available methods of waste heat utilization and their analysis. Large part of the thesis is devoted to description and usage of heat exchangers, heat pumps and thermal energy storage. The main theme of the thesis is the use of waste heat from industrial laundry room. It also introduces the process of the professional maintenance service along with its specifications and parameters of waste streams from washing machines. Main goal of the practical part of the thesis is to design equipment which could be used to store waste heat from washing machines. This equipment is designed to be used for specific process in NETME Centre laboratory. In conclusion, thesis addresses the propposed equipment from the energetical and economical point of view.
Modeling and Control of Electric and Thermal Flows in Fully Electric Vehicles
Accumulation tanks in heating systems
Železná, Karolína ; Horák, Petr (referee) ; Počinková, Marcela (advisor)
The subject of the diploma thesis is accumulation tanks in heating systems. The first part introduces the topic of thermal energy storage and types of accumulation tanks. The second part describes two specific options of heating the building of the boarding house and the restaurant with the use of storage tanks in the heating system. A gas condensing boiler is designed as a heat source in one variant and a pellet boiler in the other variant. The third part deals with experimental measurements, in which the accumulation tank with the installation for better stratification of hot water and the accumulation tank without the installation are compared.
Heat pump with accumulation
Pluške, Zbyněk ; Fortelný, Zdeněk (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
Given bachelor thesis deals with the heat pump and the accumulation of heat energy produced. At first there is a description of the principle of heat pump operation. There are also distinguished types of heat pumps, depending on where taking low heat from. The following chapter deals with the accumulation of thermal energy, and again there is a list of the most popular types. In the next section is given a sample object with a known heat loss, which is calculated for heating and warming TUV. There is also proposed possible transfer of thermal energy from the warm days of heating period in the colder days. At the end, an economic evaluation of the heat pump with heat accumulation is done.
Ice maker with direct evaporation
Loibl, Jan ; Hejčík, Jiří (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
The theoretical part of the diploma thesis deals with introduction to the issue of refrigeration systems with thermal energy storage. Possibilities of thermal energy storage with phase change are introduced. The thermodynamic principle of functioning of the particular refrigeration system type is explained here as well as its coefficient of performance and fundamental components. In addition, several examples of ice-making systems are discussed. In the practical part the design of a particular refrigeration system is calculated. The main part of the design is the cold evaporator with direct evaporation and the possibility of ice production and its usage for thermal energy storage. The calculation of the overall two-phase heat transfer is carried out.
