Automatic Quantification of Chemical Equations from Photos
Kraina, Martin ; Šimon, Martin (referee) ; Beran, Vítězslav (advisor)
The target of this thesis is to design and implement Android application, which provides automated chemical equation balancing tool. System enables taking a photo of reaction using the smartphone camera and choosing reaction position in the picture. Then the system accomplish operations necessary to optical character recognition and chemical equation balancing. Result of these operations is presented to the user. Within the implementation, graphical user interface meeting users requirements on functionality and easy controllability was designed
Mobile Interpreter for Android
Homola, Vladimír ; Maršík, Lukáš (referee) ; Beran, Vítězslav (advisor)
This bachelor thesis describes implementation of the Mobile interpreter application with focus on its user interface. The goal is to create an application with such interface with which the users will be able to work effectively and with pleasure. The first part contains a summary of the knowledge learned during study of this problem. After that is definition of the future user, situations in which he used it and design of system and its interface. Description of implementation and user testing is in the last part.
Optical character recognition from image data
Marinič, Michal ; Uher, Václav (referee) ; Burget, Radim (advisor)
The thesis is concerned with optical character recognition from image data with different methods used for character classification. In the first theoretical part it focuses on explanation of all important parts of system for optical character recognition. The latter practical part of the thesis describes an example of image segmentation, the implementation of artificial neural networks for image recognition and create simple training set of data for the evaluation of the network. It also describes the process of training Tesseract tool and its implementation in a simple application EasyTessOCR for character recognition.
Database of Czechoslovakian Television Broadcasting
Fiala, Vojtěch ; Firc, Anton (referee) ; Rozman, Jaroslav (advisor)
This thesis describes the process of creating a Czechoslovak Television broadcasting database using optical character recognition technology. The aim of the work is to create a database that can be accessed through a simple web interface, in which it will be possible to browse individual shows, their descriptions and to search among the shows. Searching will also be possible by people involved in the shows. Tesseract was used as the optical character recognition engine, obtained shows were entered into a SQLite database and Flask was used for the web interface. Scanned pages of Týdeník Československé televize were used as source materials and the years from 1966 to 1992 were processed. The results of the work give users an insight into the history of television broadcasting in Czechoslovakia and can be used, for example, for the purposes of historians.
Mobile Interpreter for iPhone
Vaňková, Klára ; Chrápek, David (referee) ; Beran, Vítězslav (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with detection of text in an image. It describes searching for MSER areas, finding which of those areas are letters by using SVM classifier and connecting the letters into words. This work shows the usage of text detection in the application Mobile Interpreter , which extracts text from a picture and translates the text into a home language. The application uses OpenCV library for image processing and Tesseract library for OCR functionality. This thesis describes implementation of a prototype of the application and presents the results of the text detection.
Mobile System for Text Recognition on iOS
Bobák, Petr ; Sochor, Jakub (referee) ; Zemčík, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis describes a development of a modern client-server application for text recognition on iOS platform. The reader is acquainted with common principles of a client-server model, including its known architecture styles, and with a distribution of logical layers between both sides of the model. After that the thesis depicts current trends and examples of suitable technologies for creating an application programming interface of a web server. Possible ways of text recognition on the server side are discussed as well. In context of a client side, the thesis provides an insight into iOS platform and a few important concepts in iOS application development. Following implementation of the server side is stressed to be reusable as much as possible for different kinds of use cases. Last but not least, the thesis provides a simple iOS framework for a direct communication with the recognition server. Finally, an application for evaluation of food ingredients from a packaging material is implemented as an example of usage.
Design of algorithm for anonymization of ultrasound data
Bugnerová, Pavla ; Hesko, Branislav (referee) ; Harabiš, Vratislav (advisor)
This master’s thesis is focused on anonymization of ultrasound data in DICOM format. Haar wavelet belonging to Daubechies wavelet family is used to detect text areas in the image. Extraction of the text from the image is done using a free tool - tesseract OCR Engine. Finally, detected text is compared to sensitive data from DICOM metadata using Levenshtein - edit distance algorithm.
Logic Puzzle Solver for Android
Urbánek, Dan ; Szentandrási, István (referee) ; Páldy, Alexander (advisor)
This thesis describes the design and implementation of an application for the mobile plat- form Android. Initially the application reads an input image, searches for the game Light Up and afterwards solves the recognized game. The thesis briefly describes the program- ming on the Android platform and also describes all the algorithms used for the needed image processing. The reader is also informed about the testing of the application with an evaluation of the achieved results. A comparison of two algorithms for detecting characters is presented, too.
System for preventing unauthorised persons from entering platform areas
Jílek, Michal ; Říha, Kamil (referee) ; Přinosil, Jiří (advisor)
The work deals with the design of a non-existent security system to secure the station from unauthorized persons, which will increase the level and quality of travel for passengers. The system uses computer vision and software developed in C ++ with the OpenCV library. The practical part describes the development of the ticket detector, comparison with the model and validation of the ticket using OCR.
Extraction of information from identity documents
Hudcovský, Erik ; Lattenberg, Ivo (referee) ; Caha, Tomáš (advisor)
This thesis is about the processing information from personal documents (ID card or passport) into the form that is further easily to be processed for computers and the IT industry in general. This process is implemented by the application I developed as part of my bachelor's thesis. The application contains the scanned document, the document type and the form of the required output. As the output we get the document type in the required format. The entire application is using in process an external OCR tool (OpticalCharacter Recognition), which is implemented so that it can be easily replaced by another OCR tool. I used Tesseract in my application. This OCR tool is the simpliest and most accurate of the free OCR tools at the same time. It also has strong community support and is still being developed. In this thesis, I also focused on its testing, both on the samples of text I created, and on real scans of documents. The application is also processed as an installation package, so it can be easily imported into other projects. The entire application is displayed as OpenSource on GitHube under the free license of MIT.
