Faltis, Tadeáš ; Lánský, Ondřej (advisor) ; Prokschová, Daniela (referee)
This work explores the relationship between the economic crisis of 2008 and the rise of populism in Southern European countries. The study employs a method of literature review, analysis of sociological data on the impact of the economic crisis, and an examination of successful populist parties in selected Southern European states. In the first part of the work, populism and economic crisis are defined, followed by an exploration of the relationship between these two concepts and possible methods for dating the rise of populism. The subsequent section characterizes the Southern European region and specific selected countries, namely Greece, Spain, and Italy. The focus is primarily on their structural problems that may be linked to the growth of populism. In the main part of the work, the impacts of the economic crisis on the selected states are analyzed, initially from an economic and social perspective and subsequently from a political standpoint. The concluding section of the work zooms in on the rise of populism in the selected states. Pasokification - the decline of traditional and social democratic parties after the Great Recession
Ročárek, Adam ; Stauber, Jakub (advisor) ; Perottino, Michel (referee)
This bachelor's thesis is concerned with Pasokification, a concurrent decline of traditional centre-left parties in Europe and rise of alternative parties after the Great Recession of 2008. The theoretic part of the thesis analyses the status of these parties prior to their decline, their politics, way of governing, evolution and reforms which the parties embraced prior to their decline. The practical part analyses the decline itself, and how its tied to parties' politics and decisions prior to it. It also analyses the new, alternative parties, which have begun to occupy the space previously dominated by moderate, traditional parties. By comparison between the parties that successfully staved off Pasokification, and parties that declined into political irrelevance, and by comparison between the traditional and alternative parties, this thesis pinpoints the reasons for the decline. By analysing the electoral successes of the traditional and alternative parties, the thesis resolves the relationship between the two, discovering whether the rise of alternative parties is the reason for the decline, or a result of it. The same hypotheses are used for the 6 analysed states, and as such the thesis analyses whether the hypotheses are applicable to the wide trend of the European left.

In the last, research sections, the theory of policy transfer is applied on specific examples. Topics are divided into 3 parts - economic area, social measures and foreign policy.
