Media image and presentation of the Nuremberg trials in 1945-1949
CHALOUPKOVÁ, Michaela
In this thesis I focus on military trials with war criminals led by the victorious powers at International Military Tribunal. These processes took place in Nuremberg between 1945 and 1949. I deal with the Nuremberg processes and their reflection in the Czechoslovak Period Press. First, the issue of Nuremberg processes is described and supported by secondary sources. This section is dealing with the processes as such, including the processes and results of the lawsuits. Subsequently, the work focuses on the image of the processes in Czechoslovak press - this is also the essence of my analysis. The issue of reality and media processes are also taken into account (e.g. how media portray the processes in the National Front system in 1945-1949, considering their political polarization). The thesis shows a picture of how the Czechoslovak press dealt with the topic of Nuremberg processes.

Šatná, Barbora ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Osvaldová, Barbora (referee)
The bachelor's thesis "The Death of Jan Masaryk" in the periodical press deals with how selected media reported on the person and death of Jan Masaryk in the period from February 25 to March 31, 1948. Specifically, these are the dailies Rudé právo and Svobodné noviny (known as Lidové noviny) . But first, he deals with the person and important events in the life of Jan Masaryk. Subsequently, it presents a brief history of both dailies. He then deals with the analysis of articles in both periodicals. The researched texts could be divided into two periods: first, before Masaryk's death and the second, the days after his death. In the first period, the dailies did not pay much attention to Jan Masaryk. They rarely wrote about him, mostly in connection with forming a new government, of which he became a member. In the second period, the number of texts mentioning his name grew significantly. The most common topic was Masaryk's funeral, first its organization, then its course and Masaryk's interview for the French daily L'ordre, from which both dailies quoted very often. At that time, it was a turning point in Czechoslovakia when non-communist ministers resigned, and Klement Gottwald began to form a government in which the Communists prevailed. At that time, the Communists also controlled print media...
The biographical study of Jiří Mucha and his journlistic work in pre-war, war and post-war years
Bílá, Kristina ; Köpplová, Barbara (advisor) ; Osvaldová, Barbora (referee)
This bachelor thesis is devoted to the life and work of writer and journalist Jiří Mucha in selected years from 1937 to 1948 . This period is further divided into three phases, the pre- war (1937-1939), war (1939-1945) and postwar (1947-1948) period. For each era are allocated three most important periodicals which formed the strongest pillar of Mucha's work. These are the Lidové noviny, magazine The Czechoslovak and Svobodné noviny. The thesis is also focused on Mucha's other publications from 1929 to his death in 1991. Each chapter contains information on the socio-historical situation, the status of the media at the time and also discusses specifics of Mucha's contributions to the above mentioned publications. The aim of this thesis is to map Mucha's benefit especially in the field of journalism and also to bring his personality closer. What is more, another aim is to compare the various creative periods by method of comparative analysis or what impact his writing had on the socio-historical events. The thesis would also like to detect the difference between individual articles.
The Trial with the Protectorate Government
Havelková, Lenka ; Šafařík, Petr (advisor) ; Kučera, Jaroslav (referee)
This thesis is focused on medial presentation of the trial with the protectorate government. On the case of this process I try to show how this historical trial was depicted on the pages of the periodical press Rudé právo, Lidová demokracie and Svobodné noviny. On the background of this analysis of the historical press I intend to picture the character of the afterwar years which had been characterized by groundbreaking changes within the czech society and the state. From this reason I pay attention to the question of the impact of the war on the exil london government's plans for the reconstruction of the postwar Czechoslovakia. Regarding the connection with all the postwar changes I try to picture the background of the origin of the retribution, both from the czech and foreign point of view. In consideration of the fact, that the retribution itself was a kind of means of coping with the past and starting a new period of existence, I also try do depict the political background of the trial with the protectorate government. Particularly I focus on the attempts to influence this trial and discussions, that had been circulating regarding the guilt and punishment of the defendants. The interests of the political representation were related to the media, which kept providing lots of information about...
