Czech and Spanish Phraseology, key word: animals

This bachelor thesis is a comparative study of Spanish and Czech phraseology. It´s focused on the phraseological units containing the name of an animal. The aim of this thesis is to propose possibilities of translation of the Spanish phraseological units to the Czech language and indicate the degree of equivalency. The tesis is divided into two parts, the theoretical part and an analytical part. In the theoretical part there is defined the phraseologhy and the phraseological unit in general. Afterwards there is compared the Spanish and the Czech conception the classifications and terminology. In the analytical part there is the sample of the phraseological units classified according to the degree of equivalency. Subsequently, each phraseological unit is analysed individually from a formal point of view. Thereafter there is stated the definition, Czech equivalent and context for each unit and in some cases the motivation as well. Besides, there is an attention paid to the stereotypes related to the animals which are manifested in the phraseology. In conclusion, there is a billingual Spanish - Czech glossary containing all analyzed Spanish phraseological units and their Czech equivalents.
Analysis of the means of expression of the intensification in Spanish

The object of present thesis is an introduction to the issues of comparative analysis of Czech and Spanish expression instruments which are modifying the verbal action in sense of its intensity. The aim of this paper is to determine the theoretical knowledge and the differences between Czech and Spanish grammars based on the rate of verbal action. Then, on the basis of that knowledge, is accomplished an analysis of real translations made by the InterCorp corpus. Finally there is an evaluation of obtained data and a comparison with the theoretical knowledge.
Foreign words in Spanish: an analysis of journal texts

This bachelor thesis focuses on the field of Spanish lexicon. The aim of the thesis is to analyse journalistic texts from selected Spanish newspaper, in particular, texts concerned with modern communication and information technologies. The analysis is especially focused on the foreign words and phrases that occur in Spanish language. At first, all of the concepts related to the issue are defined and clarified by means of secondary literature, then the research method is determined. The research is based on a qualitative analysis of a sample with a predetermined range. The practical section contains all the data categorized and supplied with commentary.
Personal deixis in Spanish and Czech: a comparison of web pages of travel agencies

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to briefly present the issue of personal deixis in the Czech and Spanish languages. The second aim is to analyse this personal deixis on the websites of Czech and Spanish travel companies. The thesis is divided into two main parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part of the work is focused on defining the theoretical concepts in the deictic field. The practical part contains an analysis of the web pages of Czech and Spanish travel companies, a comparison of the assumption and the result of the analysis and a summary of the differences between the results of the Czech and Spanish web pages analysis. The bachelor thesis begins with an introduction, ends with a conclusion and a résumé in the Spanish language completes the work.

The thesis "Attribute in Spanish language" is aimed at the analysis of the word patterns that are used to build an attribute. The target of the thesis is to define attributes as a part of a sentence and describe every particular kind of them. This analysis is based on the study of linguistic materials coming from both, Czech and Spanish sources. First, the theoretical part will be focused on the unification of the terminology. It will also be attempted to connect these two very different language systems in one. Further, the attribute will be described in detail from various formal points of view. In the practical part the findins from the theoretical part will be applied to analyze some text taken from Spanish periodicals. The results of analysis will be stated in the third part of the thesis, conclusion. The graphical illustration of the chosen results is would also be presented in the conclusion. Résumé in Spanish is also part of this thesis.
Lexical non-equivalency as a negative interference in acquiring Spanish.

The aim of this thesis is to define the lexical units that are most vulnerable to the interference caused by lexical nonequivalence between Czech and Spanish vocabulary. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and the practical part. In the theoretical part the author introduces the issue of lexical nonequivalence in general and on the basis of the studied literature creates a linguodidactic classification of lexical nonequivalence. Specific cases of lexical nonequivalence are identified and explained in the practical part of the thesis based on an analysis of Spanish vocabulary of the textbooks Aventura 1,2, Nuevo Ven 1 and Nuevo Ven 2 (the first 8 lessons), which corresponds to the second stage of basic education, ie up to level B1. The interference caused by lexical nonequivalence is identified on the basis of the author´s own experience in teaching Spanish, therefore, both spoken and written expression of students are submitted to analysis.
Czech-Spanish and Spanish-Czech printed dictionaries

The theme of this Bachelor thesis is the description of the Czech-Spanish and Spanish-Czech printed dictionaries. The work is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part we dealt with the form and the content of bilingual dictionaries, with its macrostructure and microstructure. In the second part which is practical we analyzed selected Czech-Spanish and Spanish-Czech dictionaries and we compared its elements of structure. After the analysis of each dictionary we mentioned the evaluation of the dictionary. At the end of the work we summarized the evaluations. We mainly used the dictionaries containing commonly used vocabulary. Smaller part of the analyzed dictionaries is focused on economic vocabulary.
Gerund and its Czech Equivalents in Texts of European Union Law.

Abstract The graduation theses named "Gerund and its Czech Equivalents in Texts of European Union Law" examine the ways of gerund application in Spanish expert language focusing particularly on the gerund structures interpretation. The theses are composed of two main parts: the theoretical part and the practical part. In its theoretical part, the author targets first the use of gerund in general. Above all, she specifies an overview of gerund´s main roles in Spanish sentences there, and recites various possibilities how to translate this verbal form to the Czech language. The second and important chapter of the theoretical part is called "Use of gerund in Spanish legal language". It studies gerunds found out in texts from the sphere of the expert (administrative-legal) language only. As the main source of information used for the practical studies was considered the internet portal EUR-Lex where we found out expressions containing Spanish gerunds together with their Czech equivalents used there. They were then classified based on the way of their interpretation. We examined two areas of legal experts text marked "All treaties" and "Judgements of Court of Justice". The theses are concluded by comparison of equivalents taken from two above mention ranges of texts as well as comparing results of EUR-Lex survey with the theoretical part of theses where we used the classification of gerund translation according authors Veselá Jana, Reska Jaroslav and Jašek David (2004).
Bilingualism in Spain: Spanish (Castilian) and Basque

The author of the thesis describes current tendences of the Castilian-basque bilingualism from the linguistic, social and political point of view. After the introduction to the general overview of the linguistic situation in Spain, the author geographically and historically specifies the Basque-speaking area and then she closely deals with the extension, typology, linguistic characteristics of the Basque language in comparison with the Castilian and its historical background. In the second part of the thesis focused on bilingualism, the author first generally identifies this phenomenon with the related problematic issues of its clasification and then she describes in details the bilingulistic scheme of the present Basque country, the evolution of the implementation of the Basque language into the school curriculum and its current position in education against the legislative background; later on the author defines linguistic models of the education system and programmes aimed to support the Basque language and culture in today´s Basque society. In the conclusion of the thesis, the author analyses her own qualitative research conducted among bilingual speakers in the Basque and Navarre Autonomous Communities. The thesis is written in Czech and contains a summary in Spanish.
