The consolidation trend in banking

This work investigates quickly developing consolidation trend in banking. The first part of the work is devoted to the theoretical basis, definitions, reasons for mergers and acquisitions, positive and negative consequences of consolidation. Special attention is paid to banking mergers and acquisitions (M&A), to their financing and regulation. The second chapter examines banking M&A process in detail, including models, which could be used during particular stages. The third chapter discusses development of the consolidation trend in Europe focused on Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine. The influence of the banking M&A on those countries' banking systems development is examined. Legal requirements and problems, which could occur in connection with banking M&A in these countries, are also discussed in this chapter. In the work were used some real banking M&A examples, illustrative examples for better understanding models, used in the M&A process, and case study as an illustration of the M&A process in the CIS countries.

Logistic way of of developing tourism in russian regions

Chtěla jsem se pokusit zodpovědět otázku - Proč Rusko, země disponující tak velkým turistickým potenciálem, kulturním a historickým dědictvím, přírodními krásami na obrovské rozloze v různých zeměpisných šířkách, nemá dostatečně vyvinutou turistickou infrastrukturu, a proč je málo navštěvovanou turistickou destinací. Ve své práci dokazuji, že logistika hraje v rozvoji regionálního cestovního ruchu důležitou roli. Rovněž jsem se snažila analyzovat budoucnost cestovního ruchu v Rusku a podíl cestovního ruchu na ekonomice Ruska v dlouhodobém horizontu.

Russia - Strategic market for czech companies

The thesis contains the analysis of the Russian market potential for Czech companies from the economic development, sectoral possibilities and opportunities offered by Russian Federal Subjects point of view. The paper discuss also the Russian economic development in the 90's and mutual Czech and Russia economic relationships and cooperation.

EU's Role in the Middle East Peace Process and Comparison with Other Significant Participants

The topic of this thesis is the question of EU's involvement in the resolution of the Middle East conflict (in a narrower sense the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians) and the survey of common positions and differences of the EU and other significant participants (especially the USA and the USSR/Russia). The ultimate objective is to assess the contribution and role of the EU in the whole process based on its analysis. The first part of the thesis outlines the evolution of the Middle East conflict from the creation of the State of Israel up to the present (May 2008), the second part deals with the analysis of West European states' and EU's approach towards the Peace Process and the the third part contains a comparison of the EU's positions with selected key participants (the USA and the USSR/Russia).

Gazprom and the Russian Foreign Policy towards the Countries of the Former USSR

This thesis deals with the energy policy of the Russian Federation and its role within the Russian foreign policy towards the countries of the former Soviet Union. It focuses in particular on the Russian state gas monopoly Gazprom. The thesis inquires into Gazprom's relation to the Russian foreign policy and examines how and to what extent Russia uses Gazprom as a tool for enforcement of its political interests. It also analyses the implications of the Gazprom's acitivities in the postsoviet countries for the energy security of the European union.
