Štěrbíková, K.: Reading of images and reading of text as a way towards new experience from the book. /Thesis/ Prague 2014 - Charles University, Faculty of education, department of art education, 125 pages. The thesis examines the illustration of children's books - one of the forms of fine art. The illustration is considered to be one of the ways for the development of critical thinking, visual literacy and key competencies of younger school-age children. Therefore, this thesis focuses on the current concept of book illustration. Based on an intensive research the thesis is trying to detect those properties of book illustrations encouraging children to active participation and active relationship with the book. The interpretation of the image (illustration) is dealt with in close connection to the process of understanding conceptual meaning of the text reacting to the level of literacy skills achieved by Czech pupils. The program Critical thinking through reading and writing offers the option of increasing the level of literacy and at the same time the possibility of deepening the relationship of the child with the book. The critical thinking and its application in libraries

The thesis "Critical thinking and its application in libraries", aims to become familiar with the term "critical thinking". It informs about the program Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking and its Czech version. It represents some of the modern teaching methods, which are generated by its ideas and principles. It deals mainly with the description of activating methods, which are crucial for the program. The methods are divided into three groups according to whether they use more reading, writing and discussion. The practical part deals with the preparation of information education lessons in which methods are applied to developing critical thinking. The lessons are divided into three parts, according to a three-phase model of learning - evocation, awareness of the importance and reflection. Model lessons are adapted to the university library. As the lecture topics have been selected areas of critical thinking, information smog, invisible web, the credibility of information retrieval techniques and information security.
RWCT program at primary school

This thesis focuses on the issue of using the RWCT programme as well as components of Drama in Education in Czech language and literature classes in primary schools, especially when working with artistic texts. The theoretical part depicts the new concept of education, key competencies, goals in primary education and the importance of reading literacy. It presents information about the programmes of Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking (RWCT) and Drama in Education along with their goals, contents and methods and working with artistic texts. It also defines their identical and different components. The practical part examines how to work with one text in different ways and observes how individual goals in school classes change when using different methods of RWCT and Drama in Education. It provides specific suggestions for school classes when working with texts, their processing and evaluating with regard to the methods and education goals used. RWCT in Teaching English

The diploma thesis called RWCT in Teaching English discusses the possibilities of utilization of activating methods of the Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking programme in teaching English. The thesis is divided into two parts - the theoretic and practical. In the theoretic part, it presents the RWCT programme, the three-stage E - R - R learning cycle and different activating methods. In the practical part, it examines the application of the three-stage learning cycle into English lessons at elementary school. It is based on ten lesson plans and its aim is to show how the RWCT programme with the educational three-stage learning cycle E - R - R can be used in English classes.
Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking in Religious Education.

The study deals with the RWCT pedagogical program - Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking and its application in the lessons of Religious Education. The theoretical part seeks to examene possibilities of critical thinking in the Religion, looks at the development of Religious Education and the Catechism and analyses the RWCT program in the context of currently on-going schoul reform. The practical part is dedicated to the structure of concrete Religious Education lessons based on the RWCT model.
