Safety of off-grid hybrid energy system operation
Orság, Štěpán ; Vrána, Michal (referee) ; Morávek, Jan (advisor)
The thesis deals with the safety of hybrid systems in island operation. The safety requirements for electrical installation with photovoltaic system and protection against electric shock are discussed. Hybrid battery systems have a lower short-circuit performance in islanded operation, compared to parallel operation with the distribution grid, so the thesis focuses on the specifics of islanded operation and the use of protections that are part of the PV inverter or electrical installation. The work includes the design of test procedures and measurements on selected inverters with subsequent evaluation and recommendation of further protection measures.
The voltage restoration in Prostějov and Zlín distribution area
Wasserbauer, Vojtěch ; Vaculík, Petr (referee) ; Toman, Petr (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is description of critical situations in the electrical grid and the consequences which can be caused by these situations. Further possibilities of voltage recovery and ways how to reach the needed voltage are described. Another part is firstly about regulation electrical system and resources which are connected to this system. Secondly there is appraisal of possibility of connection new resource into distribution system 110 kV and conditions of connection new resources. The result of the thesis is description voltage recovery and the rules which have to be kept during critical situations.
Options of network operation with distributed generation sources in island operation
Mareček, Tomáš ; Drápela, Jiří (referee) ; Kopička, Marek (advisor)
This diploma thesis presents managing of the island mode using distributed generation. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the power system of the Czech Republic is described, together with its future development, and future development of installed capacity of distributed generation. Types of distributed generation are also mentioned. Next part of this work is focused on technological parts of islanding operation and its requirements. The following part describes components of the smart grids and mentions some of its functionalities. The practical part of the thesis describes the created models of components in PSCAD programme. From those components two slightly different grid models are created. On those grid models, simulations are made, during which island mode is created. Some of the grid functionalities are tested during those simulations, for example; reaction of the island mode for load increase, load decrease and others.
Island operation of the waste to energy facility
Doležal, Václav ; Paar, Martin (referee) ; Ptáček, Michal (advisor)
The purpose of this bachelor’s thesis is mainly a technological explanation of, be it present-day or potentionally future, possibilities of waste-to-energy facilities technology in Czech Republic and explanation of technological devices used in SAKO Brno institution for successful transition to island mode operation. A significant part is a research on the role of the discussed waste-to-energy facilities during power recovery in distribution network, while taking into consideration the ability to transition to the island mode operation, thanks to which it can hold an important position during the process and the analysis of a possible scenario of black-out, that the waste-to-energy facilities of SAKO Brno company couldn’t cross over to island mode operation, based on the results of the black system event that took place in the year 2013.
Islanding Detection
Bárta, Jan ; Ptáček, Michal (referee) ; Kopička, Marek (advisor)
The bachelor thesis discusses islanding in electric power system and various methods for its detection. The thesis contains a list and description of legislation concerned with islanding, description of few selected islanding detection methods, and their comparison. The practical part of the thesis consists of simulations of several detection methods performed in the virtual environment of PSCAD and their evaluation.
Nuclear Power Plant Dukovany Tasks within an Electricity Grid of the Czech Republic
Prokop, Ondřej ; Řež,, Martina Malá, Centrum výzkumu (referee) ; Katovský, Karel (advisor)
The aim of the Bachelor’s thesis is to describe the role of The Nuclear Power Plant Dukovany (Dukovany NPP) in the Czech electricity grid. Increasing of the production of electricity from renewable energy sources in the electricity grid causes more frequently compliance of N-1 criterion and it decrease the reliability of the electricity grid. The risk of Blackout increases, which would cause large economic losses and danger to the life of human beings. Therefore, reliable, good controllable and safety sources of electricity are very important. The first part of the thesis describes the role of Dukovany NPP in the process of regulation of basic electrical parameters during the normal operation of electricity grid. The second part of the thesis deals with states and the function of Dukovany NPP after full or partial disintegration of the electricity grid. Final part analyzes the importance of Dukovany NPP in Czech electricity grid and future development Dukovany NPP with possibility of the construction of new nuclear units after the end of the operation in 2035. The Dukovany NPP is an important regulator of the reactive power. There isn’t other power plant in the southeastern part of the Czech Republic, which could significantly control reactive power. The power from Dukovany NPP, which is provided on ancillary services controlling the real power and frequency has been increasing in recent years. This is due to the increasing production of renewable sources. Units switch to island operation after partial disintegration of electricity grid. If frequency exceeds the limit, the units will switch to it is own consumption. In this stage of operation at own consumption can Dukovany NPP operated without the time limit. Dukovany NPP may participate in restoring the electricity grid, based on dispatch control instruct. If switching to own consumption is not successful and back up sources and emergency’s dieselgenerator are unavailable, the power supply has to be restored as soon as possible. There are six independent solutions to restore the power supply. Next option of restore power supply will be the AAC network after the completion of construction in 2014. The AAC network will be resistant to the extreme weather and will be place it in the area of the power station, thereby Dukovany NPP will be more independent on external network.
Proposal for the Procedure of Supply Restoring for Power Plant Teplárny Brno Auxiliary System after Extensive System Fault in PS
Jára, Jaroslav ; Vaculík, Petr (referee) ; Orságová, Jaroslava (advisor)
This work deals with the issue of supply restoring for heating plant Teplárny Brno, a. s. Špitálka division, after a system-wide failure of the “blackout”. The thesis solves the “black start” of the Špitálka Teplárny Brno operation by delivering a voltage from the hydroelectric power Vír I, proposes a methodology for commissioning of individual devices, up to phasing the generators with subsequent possibility of creating an “island mode” in the area of Brno city, which the work already does not deal with. The work also deals with the preparation of the operational test, while starts of the selected devices are tested. The schedule of commissioning of each device is supported by calculations of the parameters for the entire system with regard to voltage drops while connecting the high load. The result of this work is the proposal of methodological process of supply restoring for power plant Teplárny Brno – Špitálka division, by submission a voltage from the hydroelectric power Vír I, which can be used both in any system-wide failure of the “blackout”, or during the operational test.
