The Role of Olympism in International Relations

The thesis investigates the position of Olympism in international relations. The introductory chapters deal with institutional structure of the Olympic Movement, which is headed by the International Olympic Committee. The following chapters examine Olympism in connection with selected political issues. These are political interests of states and other subjects, conflicts and cooperation among states. The question of boycotts is addressed in a separate chapter. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the role of Olympism in international relations in a comprehensive manner. The thesis uses several historical examples that show how the Olympic Movement coped with given political challenges. From the mentioned examples and the evaluation of development, the most important factors for Olympism are finally deduced, i.e. commercialization, mediatization and politicization.
The development of the greek economy since the euro adoption until the present

The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to evaluate the situation and the development of the Greek economy during the period 2001 to 2011 and to demonstrate that an economic development, such as Greece's during this time, should not have been repeated by any country using a market economy. The thesis is divided into four parts. The first chapter covers theory and methodology, while the following chapters contain the EMU entry, organizing of the Olympic Games, the global economic crisis and also reform steps along with EU and IMF financial rescue package. The conclusion gives a prediction of the potential future development. A more realistic view on the situation is drawn from statistical data.
Application of Public Choice Theory to the Olympic Games in Prague

Prague competed for holding of the Olympic Games for year 2016, but it did not manage to get to the candidate selection of cities and ended only between applicants. Objective of the work is to apply the public choice theory to holding of the Olympics in Prague, focusing on the interest groups theory. Public choice theory and theory of the interest groups is explained at first. Following part of the work is dedicated to those interest groups which made a profit on mere candidacy and which groups would gain from competition. This work also solves all of the consequences of holding and answeres to the question, why try to compete for Olympic Games.
Age structure analysis at man swimmer on World Championship\\

Knowing the top-performance age in competitive swimming is one of the important factors in making the training plans and also in timing the racing form of each individual correctly. The data obtained from the sources available have been statictically analysed and the results of these statistics used to define the top-performance age in individual swimming competitions. The results of the most successful swimmers in the top competitions, i.e. the World Championships and the Olympic Games, in the years 1970 till 2007 have been examined and worked out. Apart from defining the top-performace age, the aim of this work is also to answer questions concerning the general features of defining the top-performance age, the possibility of setting this data exactly and, last but not least, marking out the recent trends in top-performance age development.
The Olympic Games - phenomenon of tourism

The idea of staging the Olympic Games is getting into many cities all over the world. In recent years the idea has also got into the quite small country from the middle of Europe -- the Czech Republic. And that is why the right time is coming, in order that citizens of this country could find out advantages and disadvantages that are brought by this event of grandiose extents. The aim of this bachelor thesis is objective assessment and analysis of the whole period influenced by staging of the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games and presentation of this complex analysis to the public. For the achievement of this aim there are used especially facts and experiences from the previous Summer Olympic Games starting with the year 2000.
The Application of Political and Cultural Values of China to the XXIX. Olympiad

Political and cultural aspects play the key role in Chinese society and that their influence exposes inseparably in such an area as the organisation of the Olympic Games. The aim of the project is to analyse the question of the Olympic Games by means of the application of the political and cultural values of the Chinese society. The thesis is divided into six chapters. The first three chapters are paid to the problems which are connected with the grant of the organisation of the Olympics Games and the historical background. The forth chapter deals with the Olympic mascots, the official logo and the motto of the Olympic Games, especially from the symbolical point of view. The fifth, and the most important part, is the application of Chinese political and cultural values on the opening ceremony. The last chapter concerns the medal ambitions of China. The conclusion is a summary of the thesis and serves as a brief review of the ascertained facts.

It finds out positives and negatives presented by the supporters and opponents of the Games planned in terms 2016 or 2020 and regards a traffic impact on the infrastructure and everyday life in Prague before, during and after the Olympic Games. Finally it supports the variants of the efficiency sporting facilities after the end of the Games by the multicriterial optimization depending on the facility location.

Economic problems of staging Olympic Games in Prague

Diplomová práce se zabývá připraveností Prahy na možné pořádání olympijských her v roce 2016 nebo 2020. Námět práce vychází z uvažované kandidatury Prahy a probíhajících diskuzí na toto téma. V první části práce je popisována příprava, organizace a finanční výsledky olympijských her v Aténách v roce 2004. Z aténských her jsou vyvozeny závěry pro pražskou kandidaturu. Druhá část práce analyzuje připravenost Prahy a ČR na možné pořádání olympijských her. Jsou zde uváděny hlavní problémy Prahy a ČR, které výrazně ohrožují možné pořádání her v plánovaných termínech.
