Křivoklát Altarpiece

The Diploma thesis "Křivoklát Altarpiece" tries to process the monographical issues of a late gothic altarpiece retable. The altar has survived as a part of stylistically uniform area of Křivoklát's chapel. Author primarily studies this work of an outstanding quality in the context of the second half of the 15th century of the Central European artistic product. The work is compared with the artistic works of the same type. In addition to that the author tries to clarify iconographic issues of the altarpiece which are often mentioned in specialized literature. The Diploma thesis mainly focuses on the altar's sculpture decoration with the goal to clarify its stylistic origins and the time of its creation. Křivoklát Altarpiece represents one of the most important works coming out of Prague's Jagellonian court.
An atypical mediaeval imaging of the Holy Trinity in Regni Hungariae in the Middle Ages

The thesis is concerned with an atypical image type of the Holy Trinity. Mediaeval authors stood in front of the hard question, how imagine three personed God (three different persons one substantiality) in the art work so that be express doctrine of the Trinity. They put up with this challenge in a different ways. In the first part of the thesis describing development, stabilizing and final acceptance of the "Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed". At the same time is this part some of introduction to this Christian mystery. The second part is then focused on a development particular iconographic types, famous analogies, trinity symbols, etc. Fourth chapter is dedicated to concrete three locations in Upper Hungary area (Žehra, Ochtiná, Rákoš), where we can see this atypical iconographical three headed type. Special care is devoted absolutely unique picture of the Holy Trinity in Rákoš.
The pilgrimage church of the Holy Trinity at Trhové Sviny

The pilgrimage church of Holy Trinity in Trhové Sviny Abstract This thesis presents a monograph of the pilgrimage church of Holy Trinity near Trhové Sviny. It focuses on its origin, historical background and the benefactors of the building and finally on the artistic value of the church. The work deals not only with a description of the church's architecture, but also looks into patterns and analogies with the Bavarian pilgrimage churches such as the one in Kappel near Waldsassen. Interestingly, the unifying element is the iconography of the Holy Trinity, which is reflected in the architecture and decoration of the church, in frescoes and the mobiliar. This iconographic concept is cleverly thought out, especially in the Trinitarian symbolism of the number three and the triangle motif that is repeated several times here. A valuable contribution is the main altar from Matěj Václav Jäckel, who probably created the church pulpit as well. The frescoes celebrating the Holy Trinity were made by Carlo Bonanelli who worked in the nearby České Budějovice. The church is an interesting result of the unifying principles of Baroque theology with the ultimate art design work. And we must not forget the question of the baroque feeling demonstrated through an impressive setting of the church in the landscape. Pilgrimage...
