Task of nurse in support of care about ill senior in a family
MRÁZOVÁ, Lucie
Old age is a natural part of our lives. Poetically, it is considered to be its autumn. Aging is a natural process and in nature it can be observed at every living creature. Everything is aging, and also we are becoming old. These days, longevity is an indicator of how much civilized each country is. As a result of quality health care and the development of society, people are living to higher age. These days, men are on average expected to live up to 79 years, women up to 74 years {--} figures that would have been considered unthinkable in the past. Taking into account these figures, several questions arise: Are we adequately prepared? Do we have, today, a system of care for the elderly to assure a respectable life for us and our parents in future? In the most ideal world, it would be the family or a close relative who would look after the old, ill or the person with limited self-sufficiency. However, this is a very demanding claim on family environment in these nervous and fast-pacing days. My bachelor thesis analyses the question of old age and all the problems it brings. I have attempted to look deeper into the role of a nurse in homecare. The practical part aims to map the role of a nurse in a home-based care and to determine her possibilities (on the basis of a questionnaire technique) in treating the elderly with health problems at home. Another partial goal of this thesis is to ascertain what needs do the ill elderly people have at home and in what ways can the nurse satisfy these needs, and to determine the physical and social strain it creates on the caregiver. After analyzing the results, my conclusion is as follows: The role of a non-professional caregiver is very significant. Family has and will always have an irreplaceable place in the care for its dependant members. There is no way any medical organization can replace the role of a family in the care for its ill family members. Care, especially long-term care, can be both mentally and physically demanding and puts an enormous strain on the caregiver. Caregivers are threatened by the deterioration of family ties, loss of friends, limited social contacts leading up to social isolation, they are prone to suffer from health problems and, in many cases, great exhaustion. The solution is to make use of a home-based care: professional nursing care provided by professional nurses. The purpose of a home-based care is to leave the patient in his/her home environment as long as possible and, at the same time, to provide professional nursing care. This care is complementary to family care; the nurse is helping the caregiver - family member. Based on my analysis, it's a very gratifying fact that nurses working in this line of work provide it gladly and with loving care. The care for the elderly is based on the principle of gratefulness, love, on the principle of sharing mutual feelings and the joys of small improvements. If we manage to increase the quality of life of caregivers with an adequate help, we will also enable the elderly or ill people to lead a contended and better quality life.
Motives for Drug Taking at High Schools Students in Jindřichův Hradec
VESELÁ, Alice
Nowadays Czech young people have more and more experience with addictive substances, particularly with alcohol, nicotine and marihuana. Therefore the author has decided to find out the most frequent motives leading to drugs taking at high schools students. Due to the lack of relevant information for this area the author maps out the situation in the district of Jindřichův Hradec. Statistics concerning the issue of drugs taking are always related to the regions or the whole Czech Republic. The author has carried out quantitative research using the method of questioning and the technique of the anonymous questionnaire. The set was determined by the quote random sample and the quote was the age, sex and type of school. The basic research set consisted of three subsets. Research set A involved students from Gymnasium schools, research set B involved students from other secondary schools and research set C involved students from apprentice training centres. The research showed that the motives for drugs taking are not much different with respect to students from individual schools. According to the secondary school students in Jindřichův Hradec there belong among the most frequent motives longing for unusual experience and the inability to solve their problem or life crisis in a different way than by using the addictive substance. Further there was proved that students of apprentice training centres have more frequent experience with drugs taking than students from secondary school and Gymnasium schools. Contribution of the Bachelor thesis lies in the mapping out secondary schools of the Jindřichův Hradec area with respect to the drug taking issue which was according to the opinions of schools headmasters missing for generating a complex conception of the drug taking issue in the area. The author assumes that making a research particularly in smaller regions could help to solve the drug taking issue generally. The author also recommends more frequent lectures on drug taking issue and excursions to establishments for drug addicts.

Methods of handling of rather less self-sufficient and non-self-sufficient clients in residential houses for elderly persons in the Region of South Bohemia
ČÁPOVÁ, Pavlína
Handling of clients is an integral part of everyday work of most of nurses. It constitutes also the largest physical load for nurses. Correctly conducted handling of a client and usage of handling aids reduces both the physical load for nurses and the risks of nurses{\crq} injuries sustained in relation with handling. As far as clients are concerned, the risks connected with handling are reduced and the comfort of the nursing care is increased then. Handling includes positioning, shifting, lifting to chairs and verticalisation. Correct handling of a client allows prevention of the complications resulting from immobility and thus also maintenance and even renewal of a client{\crq}s self-sufficiency. The bachelor thesis themed ``Methods of handling of rather less self-sufficient and non-self-sufficient clients in residential houses for elderly persons in the Region of South Bohemia{\crqq} has a research character. It is divided into two parts {--} a theoretical and a practical one. The theoretical part is focused on old-age, self-sufficiency, immobility and handling of clients. The practical part consists of a quantitative research conducted by a questionnaire method, in which we attempt to confirm the raised hypotheses. H1: Nursing staff has no practical experience in the area of handling of clients. H2: Residential houses for elderly persons are not sufficiently equipped with handling aids. H3: Nursing staff in residential houses for elderly persons does not require changes in the established manner of handling of clients. Nurses in residential houses for elderly persons in the Region of South Bohemia obtained 150 questionnaires, of which 126 were returned, i.e. 84 %. The final set of regularly filled out questionnaires for the research consisted of 108 questionnaires. The objective of the thesis is to ascertain the level of knowledge and practical experience of nurses in the area of handling of clients, and to ascertain and compare the manners of utilization of technical aids and equipment facilitating handling in residential houses for elderly persons in the Region of South Bohemia. The results of the thesis should redound to more regardful, comfortable and considerate handling of rather less and non-self-sufficient clients in residential houses for elderly persons, and facilitate the work of nursing staff in terms of their own health.
Interaction between nurses and volunteers at hospital
LHOTSKÁ, Martina
Volunteering has not started to develop in the Czech Republic until 1989. It has reached also hospitals where volunteers come to see hospitalized patients to cheer them up and to assist at the daily routine. The main role of medical staff is to meet all patients´ needs {--} biological, emotional, social and spiritual ones. It is volunteers who help a lot in fulfilling this duty. The thesis is focused on the cooperation between staff nurses and volunteers in hospital. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the history of volunteering, all the steps of the procedures leading to competence of treating patients. In the practical part the quantitative research is used. The first objective was to examine attitudes of staff nurses towards volunteers, i. e.if staff nurses consider volunteers´assistance to be of great benefit to patients. The second objective was to learn how volunteers assess staff nurses´ attitudes to their activities in hospital. To gather data questionnaires for staff nurses as well as volunteers were made up. The research was conducted in January and February 2008 in six nursing units in four hospitals in the regions of South Bohemia and Vysocina. According to the results of the research staff nurses largely appreciate volunteers´ assistance. Despite of that fact there were several averse responses on the part of staff nurses that may be the result of lack of information available. According to the feeling of volunteers themselves their concern in nursing is highly appreciated by most staff nurses. Of course, there is a lot to improve to achieve general satisfaction in this area. The research also includes an interview with a contact person between the two groups involved in the care for patients. The contact person´s view of the cooperation between staff nurses and volunteers is favourable. But there are still some difficulties in introducing the volunteer program into hospitals. The contact person is competent to give advice how to prevent possible misunderstandings between the medical staff and volunteers and mainly how not to discourage devoted volunteers from their service. The results of my research were requested by hospitals in Pelhrimov and Jihlava. They may be also provided to any health care facility interested in introducing the program called Volunteers in hospital into practice. This may help them to get valuable information from health care facilities experienced in volunteering.
Problems of morning waking up patients in the hospital and it´s influence on a patient
BERÁNKOVÁ, Barbora
The thesis deals with problems of morning waking up of patients in the ward and its influence on a patient. Morning waking up of patients is a situation faced by everyone who find themselves in a hospital {--} both a hospital employee and a patient. It is an everyday activity, although it may be one of great problems for hospitalized patients. The first aim of my thesis was to find out how morning waking up is perceived by patients hospitalized in a standard hospital ward. The second aim was to identify negative factors connected with morning waking up of patients hospitalized in a standard hospital ward. The third aim was to learn whether nurses working in a standard hospital ward respect the needs of their patients concerning morning waking up. The aims were fulfilled with the help of a questionnaire. A group monitored was formed by patients of an internal ward block. Three hypotheses were determined for these aims. Hypothesis one confirms that hospitalized patients are satisfied with morning waking up in a standard ward. Hypothesis two confirms that the most frequent factor concerning morning waking up with patients hospitalized in a standard ward is the time of waking them up. Hypothesis three confirms that nurses working in a standard ward respect the patient´s needs concerning morning waking up. The results will be handed over to senior executives of the ward where the research was carried out. They will have an opportunity to consider the problem of morning waking up of patients in their ward and, as the case may be, they can improve the situation.

Problems of meeting the needs of immobile patients according to age brackets in the department of subsequent medical care in the hospital České Budějovice, a.s.
HAŠKOVÁ, Jindra
The bachelor thesis titled ``Problems of satisfaction of immobile patients{\crq} needs according to age groups at the subsequent care ward of Nemocnice České Budějovice a.s.{\crqq} addresses satisfaction of patients{\crq} needs that forms an integral part of comprehensive nursing care at the subsequent care ward. A large amount of these immobile patients and continuously increasing requirements for professional qualification of nurses should lead to considerations how to perform as quality and as effective work as possible. The objective of the thesis is to map out the problems of satisfaction of needs of immobile patients at the subsequent care ward of the hospital Nemocnice České Budějovice a.s. The thesis is divided into a theoretical part and a research part. The theoretical part describes the difference between a hospice and a subsequent care ward, and explains what patients{\crq} needs and the immobilization syndrome mean. The research was undertaken on 190 patients above 15 years of age at the subsequent care ward of Nemocnice České Budějovice a.s. The informants were divided into 5 age groups. Immobile patients at the terminal stage of a malign disease were not included in the research. The research was conducted in the form of a questionnaire intended for immobile clients. A pilot study was undertaken to verify comprehensibility of the questionnaire. Consequently, some questions were modified so that they were understandable for the clients. Both the questionnaires are enclosed to the thesis. The research results are provided in charts and put in a chronological order according to the questions in the questionnaire. The research confirmed that the priority in satisfaction of needs of all the clients of the subsequent care ward is the need of pain killing. Relieving oneself in the bed is unpleasant for almost all the immobile clients. Satisfaction of these needs in a correct order helps the clients to adapt to the disease and to the new environment. Satisfaction of other needs is no less important. Contentment of clients reflects in their cooperation with the whole medical team, and last but not least, has an effect on their recovery.
Problems of nursing care about patient with apalic syndrom
DRÁBKOVÁ, Kateřina
This thesis deals with problems in nursing care of clients with apallic syndrome. There were 4 hypotheses. The first hypothesis presumes that nurses give patients care focused mostly on treating developed complications. After evaluation of the results focused on nursing care, we found out that some nurses know the correct processes while others do not. This means that patients are sometimes given the correct care and sometimes not. So hypothesis 1 was proved valid. The presumption for the other three hypotheses was that nurses do not have information about BS conception, do not know about possibilities of its usage, and do not use this conception in their care of clients with AS. However, the results concerning BS conception were very positive. Nurses know the conception and use it in their care about clients with AS. Hypotheses 2, 3, and 4 were not proved valid.
