Extension of Behavioral Analysis of Network Traffic Focusing on Attack Detection
Teknős, Martin ; Zbořil, František (referee) ; Homoliak, Ivan (advisor)
This thesis is focused on network behavior analysis (NBA) designed to detect network attacks. The goal of the thesis is to increase detection accuracy of obfuscated network attacks. Methods and techniques used to detect network attacks and network traffic classification were presented first. Intrusion detection systems (IDS) in terms of their functionality and possible attacks on them are described next. This work also describes principles of selected attacks against IDS. Further, obfuscation methods which can be used to overcome NBA are suggested. The tool for automatic exploitation, attack obfuscation and collection of this network communication was designed and implemented. This tool was used for execution of network attacks. A dataset for experiments was obtained from collected network communications. Finally, achieved results emphasized requirement of training NBA models by obfuscated malicious network traffic.
System for Detection of APT Attacks
Hujňák, Ondřej ; Kačic, Matej (referee) ; Barabas, Maroš (advisor)
The thesis investigates APT attacks, which are professional targeted attacks that are characterised by long-term duration and use of advanced techniques. The thesis summarises current knowledge about APT attacks and suggests seven symptoms that can be used to check, whether an organization is under an APT attack. Thesis suggests a system for detection of APT attacks based on interaction of those symptoms. This system is elaborated further for detection of attacks in computer networks, where it uses user behaviour modelling for anomaly detection. The detector uses k-nearest neighbors (k-NN) method. The APT attack recognition ability in network environment is verified by implementing and testing this detector.

Title: Comparison of selected performance indicators basketball players from NBA in matches at the European Championship in 2011 and World Cup 2014 Goals: Analyze individual efforts NBA players for two international events with national team, in broader context to evaluate and quantify their efficiency with the two special coefficients. Compare their performance on each tournament with using selected statistics, than compare them with the elite players in many categories at the championships, but also in their teams. I think very useful is final comparison their results on tournaments with their career averages from national team and NBA regular season, to see if the performances for national team achieve their performances in the best club competition in the world. In teoretical part I'll also focus to the socio-economic aspects affecting composition of national basketball teams, which significantly affect the overall composition and therofore their success , which is prestented by overall team placement. Obvious is endeavour to describe the diversity of game plans in overeas and Europe, but also different politics of NBA and FIBA. Method: For my thesis I chose a secondary analysis of official statistics NBA players emerged on both of these tournaments, so the Europeans, but also with a valid...

Wage Discrimination in US Sports: Comparative Analysis
Ivantsev, Dmitrii ; Janhuba, Radek (advisor) ; Matoušek, Jindřich (referee)
The issue of salary discrimination in the US sport has been a controversional topic, largely dscussed in the context of racial discrimination in American society. Numerous papers written in this field in the previous years investigated each of the US Major Leagues separately. This thesis provides a comparative analysis of wage discrimination in the Nationall Basketball Association, Major League Baseball and National Football League. The data on players' contracts for all leagues were collected based on 2015-2018 unrestricted free agents' signings with a different sample of players for each specific year. We created five unique datasets for the comparative analysis, including one NBA, two NFL and two MLB related samples, where the MLB datasets represent batting and pitching players, while the NFL samples refer to the players on the offensive and defensive positions. For the estimation of players' productivity, we considered the average performance statistics in three years prior to the first contract year. By adding dummy variables reflecting players' race into the regressions and applying the Ordinary Least Squares method we could compare the size of the wage premium paid to the representatives of the specific race. The results of our regressions do not provide sufficient evidence of salary...
The Salary Discrimination in NBA
Pacák, Vojtěch ; Korbel, Václav (advisor) ; Vach, Daniel (referee)
The Salary Discrimination in NBA Abstract in English Discrimination is commonly investigated throughout the labor market. This empirical study investigates salary discrimination in National basketball association. In last three decades, plenty of papers concerning this behavior have been published. However, results of them are not consistent. We use the most current data and adjusted previous models to reveal today's situation. We create a unique dataset based on statistics and personal qualities, both available on the official website of the league. We suggested two approaches that should capture different kinds of managers' thinking. The first approach controls for statistics from last three seasons, whereas the second approach covers all-career performance. For this study we used salaries from last five seasons with different sample in each period. As our sample is example of independently pooled cross sections, Ordinary Least Squares method can be used. By controlling for dummy variable white, we are able to immediately comment on salary differences between black and white players. We have not found any patterns of salary discrimination between blacks and whites variables. However, we found significant benefit given to centers. This may explain originally reported benefit for white players, as white...
