This thesis describes the design of the Central European center in Olomouc (SEFO). Space for the new building is located in a vacant lot in the historic district Olomouc. The objective is the expansion and reconstruction of the Museum of Modern Art in Olomouc on Denis street, so that was sufficient for all the needs of the growing museum. The museum has about 185,000 works of art, this number is one of the most prominent institutions of its kind in the Czech Republic.

After School Art Programme at the Gallery of the Central Bohemian Region

The diploma thesis deals with informal leisure education in the gallery institution of the Gallery of the Central Bohemian Region in Kutná Hora. The theoretical part introduces concepts related to education in cultural institutions. It moves from the definition of museums and galleries to the definition of education and other concepts related to the issue of non-unified terminology. It looks at the use of several terms with the same meaning, such as education and animation, and their use in the literature. It then describes the life and work of the artists Jitka and Květa Válová, whose life's work was presented by the Gallery of the Central Bohemian Region in the exhibition Jitka and Květa Válovy: A Path Destined by Fate. The artists and the exhibition are connected to an educational programme that was created during six months of work with children of younger school age in an afternoon leisure activity called Ne/kroužek. Ne/kroužek is patronised by The Learning Centre of the Gallery of the Central Bohemian Region. The activities of The Learning Centre and its programme offer for 2022 are also described in the theoretical part. The Relationship between Curator and Educator in Museums of Art

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of relations and cooperation between curators and educators in art galleries. The theoretical part introduces both professions, presents their work activities and qualification and competence requirements. Furthermore, the theoretical part focuses on a brief overview of the ongoing transformations in exhibition institutions, specifically describing the related new institutionalism and the educational turn. The practical part presents empirical research, the main aim of which is to find out what the collaboration between curators and educators in selected art galleries currently looks like. The data for the research are collected through semi-structured interviews with curators and educators from the galleries; questions are directed at mutual collaboration as well as previous experience, education and work background. The information obtained in the interviews during face-to-face meetings is analysed and interpreted together with information from the websites of the selected galleries. The research shows that all the galleries surveyed offer a variety of active programmes for different target groups, which shows a reflection of the ongoing changes and a certain shift towards an educational turn. Marketing Communications in Today´s Practice of Art Museums in the Czech Republic

The aim of this thesis is to describe thoroughly the way Czech museums of art are using the principles of marketing communications nowadays. Theoretical part of the thesis presents brief history of modern museums worldwide as well as in the Czech Republic (with special stress on the network of regional galleries being founded in the second half of the 20th century. It also presents bases of museum marketing and the elements of integrated marketing concept applied on galleries. Terms of branding and fundraising are mentioned as well. The research part of the thesis contains the results of questionnaire survey among 10 representatives of Czech regional galleries. Each of the included museums of art is introduced with emphasis on their ways of using marketing communications principles. Their visual identities are also described and media monitoring analysis is added to all of them. We can say that the principles of marketing communications are anchored among Czech galleries; however they struggle with the lack of finance needed to concentrate more on such activities.

Museum building today: historical or new building?

The thesis looks into the history and charts the development of the museum architecture in the world and in the Czech Republic with a focus on art museums .It describes the current situation of museum building in the Czech Republic. It deals with the typology of museum buildings in terms of their functionality and changes in the organization of museum work. The practical part focuses on Gallery of modern art in Roudnice nad Labem.

Use of industrial buildings for art gallery and exhibition

The aim of this work is to analyze and evaluate procedures leading to the regeneration of industrial heritage and to compare some examples of conversions to gallery and exhibition spaces. The comparison of this adaptations is given by examples from several European countries and Czech Republic with sufficiently broad basis of informations. Work explains the terminology used in the field of the industrial architecture and the regeneration of brownfields. The work briefly asseses the physical state and extent of industrial heritage in the Czech Republic, its preservation and protection. For each state (UK, Spain, Fance and Czech) will be briefly described the basic international and national legal framework of the monuments (industrial heritage) care.
