Vokšická, Barbora ; Straková, Jana (advisor) ; Stará, Jana (referee)
The quality of education of teachers has recently started to be in the focus of educational theory, research and of education policy in all developed countries, including the Czech Republic. We face problems such as unqualified teachers, the lack of interest of young people in teaching, the departure of teachers from schools, the quality of education of teacher, with regard to the needs of modern society and the labor market. Furthermore, the lack of a standard for the teaching profession together with the high autonomy of universities leads to a situation in which individual faculties of primary education design education programs completely independently and we have little information, If they are equipping graduates with comparable knowledge and skills, building similar attitudes and establishing teacher education of similar priority. The theoretical part is devoted to the development of teacher education of primary schools in the Czech Republic after 1989, the legislative and conceptual anchoring of university teacher training. In the practical part, the thesis attempts to answer the question of how different is the preparation of primary school teachers at various faculties of education in the Czech Republic. Hlaváč, Martin ; Čechurová, Jana (advisor) ; Jakubec, Ivan (referee) ; Kvaček, Robert (referee)
The main goal of my dissertation is to analyze the personality of Engliš, who was an important representative of the scientific and financial elites during the period of the First Republic. I will venture to explain the causes of his rise during the First Republic and aim to characterize his relations with other elites. The term "elite" refers not only to representatives of the political and financial life of the First Republic, but also to the important leaders of its scientific and cultural scenes. In my dissertation I want to address the relationships between the elite of the First Republic and Karel Engliš. Public opinion played an important role in the relations between Engliš and the elite of the First Republic, in particular as Engliš was presented in the media and how the public perceived him. His family was supportive of Karel Engliš but also caused him many problems. I have found the main material for my thesis in the archive of the National Museum (Archiv Národního muzea), the Literary Archive of the Museum of Czech Literature (Literární archiv Památníku národního písemnictví), the archive of Charles University (Archiv Univerzity Karlovy), the archive of Masaryk University in Brno (Archiv Masarykovy univerzity v Brně) and the archive of the National Bank of the Czech Republic (Archiv...

Submitted diploma thesis describes the life of historian Rudolf Holinka. His area of specialization was especially in the Middle Ages. He was a well-known professor and an author of medieval-themed books. His life was significantly influenced by the important changes in the society. He became a member of academic environment at Charles University in Prague at Faculty of Philosophy. He developed his interest in the history under the influence of the first generation Goll's students. His activity was moved to the recently opened Faculty of Philosophy at Comenius University in Bratislava. He had to leave this place in consequence of changes which were happened during 1938. Holinka didn't even avoid the Nazi repression which burst out after German occupation of Czechoslovakia. There is also depicted his life during the Communist era. This diploma work tries as first to map the historian's life from the time of early studies up to his university work which was culminated by his appointment of professor at Faculty of Philosophy at Masaryk University in Brno.

Sedláčková, Andrea ; Závodský, Prokop (advisor) ; Hudrlíková, Lenka (referee)
The aim of my work, after collecting and studying the available literature, is to describe a long and difficult development of universities in Moravia, which resulted in the creation of the Masaryk University in Brno. Trying to summarize and analyze the life work of five prominent personalities who are closely connected with the history of the Masaryk University and its activities, not a few have contributed to the development of statistics in the interwar period.
