Relaxation and exercise center
Kalábková, Ladislava ; Obrtlík, Jan (referee) ; Májek, Jan (advisor)
The bachelor thesis focuses on the design of an administrative building on Soukenická Street in the bustling part of Brno. Currently, the plot houses buildings with zero utilization, deteriorating structures, and a parking lot. The entire area is unattractive, has limited use, and negatively affects the aesthetics of the intersection of two important streets – Soukenická and Hybešova. The architectural design includes the creation of an attractive corner building with multifunctional use, an underground garage, and a connection to the existing Malá Amerika building, which could have a new functional purpose as a commercial and restaurant passage or art studios. The administrative building offers a ground floor with a restaurant, bistro, café, and shop. Spaces are variable, allowing owners to customize them according to their needs. Additional above-ground floors are equipped with offices, both for larger groups and individuals. The seventh floor features a green accessible roof, a café, and meeting and presentation rooms. The bachelor thesis delves into the details of the administrative building section housing the main staircase with an elevator. Simultaneously, the design incorporates the connection of Soukenická Street with Malá Amerika through a passage in the proposed structure, aiming for potential future use of the building. The work stems from the architectural design studio in the second year, focusing on public structures.
Malá Amerika in Brno
Kalmykova, Valeriia ; Bažant, Lukáš (referee) ; Novák, Petr (advisor)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the design proposal for a new multifunctional building called "Malá Amerika" in Brno, based on an architectural study conducted within the course BGA021 - Architectural Design Studio 2 - Public Buildings. The aim of this thesis was to prepare project documentation comprising documentation for building permits, construction documentation, and architectural detail design. The proposed building is in Brno near the historical industrial structure "Malá Amerika" and the Titania buildings, within the area bounded by the streets Úzká and Nové sady. The multifunctional building "Malá Amerika" includes offices, art galleries, a library, a restaurant, cafes, rooftop terraces, and spaces for events. The new construction respects the existing urban and architectural structure of the surrounding development. It consists of five standalone buildings interconnected by an underground parking lot. The massing is composed of several blocks at different height levels connected by accessible terraces. Streets and squares with many interesting perspectives emerge between the individual buildings. The building is connected to "Malá Amerika" by an accessible terrace and designed not to obstruct the historical structure. Towards the Titania buildings, the volumes of the individual building components increase. The project's intention was to create a multifunctional building that would not only be an introverted structure benefiting solely from its perfect location and existing urban infrastructure but also feature ground floors full of commerce and services accessible to passersby even after working hours.

Culture building in the South Centre In my master thesis I have made a proposal of a culture building – Art Gallery. My work was based upon my previous proposal of the surrounding parc, where the gallery is placed. This location is connected with new site of planned main trainstation. Urban role of this building is to create a conection between new multifunctional estates and older industrial building - viaduct. Southern part of the parc is profilled as a riverine forest and swamps in my project as it was there naturaly before. Placement of the gallery and its entrances was quite dificult, because of complicated urban situation. My solution of this problem was a integrated volume building with a console spanning towards the new estates eastewards. This determines clearly the entrance and relations with surroundings. The first floor is composed by spatial foyer with a information desk, book shop, cloakroom, caffetery and multifunctional hall. Skyline of Petrov can be percived by windows on the north. The centre of the gallery is a vertical comunication formed by simple monolytic helical stair. The enlightment is provide by drawn up skylight. A rest space in the second floor provides atypic vertical views of old town of Brno, parc and the cathedral. Two large exhibition rooms and art workshop complete the second floor. In the basement there are 39 car slots, storage, technical and manitenance rooms. The caffetery in the first floor can be reached even directly from the parc via foot bridge over the swamp. Every spring the snowdrops and snowflakes flower there. The constuction material is armoured concrete with wall system completed with pillars.
Multifunctional building Malá Amerika
Jašková, Tereza ; Muroň, Ivo (referee) ; Ležatka, Lukáš (advisor)
This bachelor work follows up on an architectural atelier project made in the winter semester of the third year of the bachelor program. The goal of this project is a plan of a new multifunctional building in the city part of Brno-Střed. The site is located on the corner of Nové Sady, Nádražní and Hybešova. There are Malá Amerika and Titanium buildings nearby. The new building respects the urban concept, and the new structures match the height of the already present buildings. The multifunctional building consists of three aboveground parts each of which has its own public services. The corner building serves as a shopping mall with administrative offices. The building next to the Titanium is used for its showrooms and administrative part and the last and lowest building houses a café with a multifunctional space and a library. The whole site is conjoined by its underground parking lot which is accessible through entrances on the north-west and north-east sides. The shape of the building copies the intersection and creates an imaginary rampart, which also creates a square between the structures of Malá Amerika and the multifunctional building. The stalls of these structures are made from concrete arches reminiscent of a historical viaduct, which used to be situated here. The upper floors are covered with cladding made from bricks. The building worked on has an atrium which provides more daylight to otherwise very deep floor layouts. The main goal was to create a pleasant and habitable space in this part of the city.
