Kačerová, Veronika ; Táborská, Silvie (advisor) ; Novotná, Marie (referee)
Author: Veronika Kačerová Tutor: Mgr. Silvie Táborská Opponent: Title of bachelor thesis: The Use of Elements of Fascial Manipulation in Patients with Low Back Pain Abstract: This bachelor thesis deals with an approach called Fascial Manipulation. Concretely, it is about the possibilities of using elements of this approach in patients with low back pain. Almost everybody somehow deals with low back pain in life. Fascial Manipulation could be the key in solving this problem. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is divided into four sections. The first one is about the anatomy of lower back, the second one is about lumbalgia in general, the third one is about fascial system highliting the clinical point of view, the forth one is about Fascial Manipulation. The practical part involves case studies of two patients with low back pain (chronic and acute). The aim of this part is to find out the effects of a therapy based on elements of FM in patients with lumbalgia. Every therapy took aproximately 20-30 minutes and was held in a time period of 8 weeks. Key words: low back pain, Fascial Manipulation, fascia, lumbalgie, manual techniques
The physiotherapeutic options to treat lumbar pain resulting from asymetrical lenght of limbs after total hip replacement surgery
PRÁŠKOVÁ, Romana
This Bachelor's thesis discuss possibilities of lower back pain physiotherapy which arise from asymmetric length of lower limbs after a one-sided surgery of total endoprosthesis of hip joint. In the first part of my theses I summed up mainly basic theoretic knowledge connected with the problem. I considered mainly anatomic kinesiology and functional underlay and connections between them. The point of this work is to overview possibilities of physiotherapy and kinesiotherapy that I encounter during my school practise. Out of all of them I selected those which are most usable and I applied their particular parts during the process of creating exercises in the practical part of my thesis. In the practical part of my bachelor's thesis I used quantitative form of research. The research includes objective measuring using medical machine VSR Sport from the company Neurocom, the input and output kinesiological analysis as well as interview and observation. Based on processing this data I have created the rehabilitative plan. The plan was constructed from concrete physiotherapeutic and kinesiotherapeutic methods which I considered in the theoretical part and was adjusted or changed according to individual patients (in the form of exercises). The research unit included three patients two women and one man. Each of them underwent eight therapies, each of which was forty five minutes long. All patients ended up being affected by the therapy positively. The patients mentioned mainly pain relief, milder or less frequent pains and feelings of better balance. Objectively, there is a noticeable change of (stress of lower limb). Less complicated methods which are focused on muscle strengthening in the spine and pelvis area seem to be most suitable.
Monitoring of the core muscles activity in postural stability examination by Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization tests using surface electromyography in patients with low back pain
Zajíčková, Jana ; Valouchová, Petra (advisor) ; Mačkalová, Petra (referee)
The Master's thesis is focused on monitoring of the core muscles and m. biceps femoris activity in postural stability examination by Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization tests using surface electromyography in patients with LBP. Trunk extension test, trunk flexion test and squat test were chosen. The aim of this study was comparing muscle activity timing, symmetry of muscle activation and average activation between healthy subjects and patients with LBP. The changes of muscle activation pattern were observed and average activation was determined. In theoretical part the principles of DNS, surface electromyography and the relationship between postural stabilization and LBP are discussed. Two groups were measured - patients with LBP and a control group, 20 subjects together. The onset times were measured and rank of activation for each test and for each subject was determined. Then the average order for whole group was specified. Measured data were evaluated according to Wilcoxon signed-rank test. In average activation there was analysed change of activation in time. Results were compared between two measured groups. There is significant difference between the two groups in the rank of activation of m. ES l. dx. in trunk extension test and m. EO in squat test. Assymetry in timing of the right and left...
Case study of physiotherapeutic treatment of a patient after total hip endoprosthesis
Stylianidou, Maria ; Nováková, Tereza (advisor) ; Zemlerová, Hana (referee)
Title: Case study of diagnosis of total hip endoprosthesis Author: Maria Stylianidou This Bachelor Thesis includes the treatment of the case of my patient who had an operation of total hip endoprosthesis 3 years ago, caused by osteoarthritis. Focusing in kinesiology and biomechanics of the hip after surgery and discuss its correlation with the low back. My Bachelor Thesis consists of two parts: theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part includes the anatomical, kinesiological and biomechanical aspects of the hip joint as well its connection with the lumbar after hip operation by possible complications which affect the low back. In practical part I analysed every procedure I have done with my patient, all examinations and their conclusions and day to day therapy procedures and progress. At the end of the therapy sessions, the patient had some important changes concerning her pelvis and spine, fascias, muscles as well as her gait pattern. More details about the progress of the patient included on the final kinesiologic examination in the special part of this Bachelor Thesis. KEY WORDS: Total hip endoprosthesis, Stability, Low back pain, Core stabilization system, Balance exercises
Monitoring the effect of physiotherapy from the view of a patient with discopathy using Oswestry disability index Subtitle: By means of Robin McKenzie method
Šrytr, Martin ; Šímová, Alena (advisor) ; Leško, Juraj (referee)
This thesis is focused on the treatment of chronic lumbar back pain using Robin McKenzie method as a therapeutic approach. The theoretical part deals with the physiology of the spine, its pathophysiology and complications related to that. It also presents the McKenzie method, its fundamentals and clinical use. It also describes the Oswestry disability index, which was chosen as a subjective tool for evaluating the effectiveness of therapies from the patient's perspective. The practical part aims to answer the question whether the McKenzie method is a suitable tool for influencing chronic back pain. To answer this question a qualitative research in the form of case studies was made. The key role for assessing the effect of therapy was played by intensity of pain, which was evaluated by the Oswestry questionnaire, dynamics of the spine and neurological symptoms. The results, which were concluded during therapies, argue in favour of the Robin McKenzie method, which is a suitable therapeutic approach to influence chronic lumbar back pain.
