The Impact of the Presence of Spa Resorts on the Cultural Life within the Community - Case Study of Township Lázně Toušeň

The topic of this diploma thesis is a cultural life in small spa towns, specifically presented on a case study of town Lázně Toušeň. In the theoretical part of the thesis the topic is incorporated into urban sociology and the thesis focuses on questions such as what is the difference between a city and a village, are there any transitional areas and what kind of urbanization processes can occur in the countryside. In the second chapter of the theoretical part the main focus of the thesis lies with spas, their history and cultural specifics. In the empirical part, the case study itself, the thesis looks into the town of Lázně Toušeň and its spa, specifically on the cultural life in the town between the years 1968 - 1989. The study focuses on topics such as what is the difference between cultural and community life in the town during normalization period and present day and how are they influenced by the specifics of Toušeň. The study also covers the topics of daily life in the spa, the organizational and financial side of the cultural events or the role of the "cultural officers". Architecture between the late historicism and Art Nouveau, as an example of the work of builder's Konstantin Sax in Čelákovice

The present work deals with the personality and the creation of architect Konstantin Sax (1874-1927), active in the first quarter of the 20th century in Čelákovice and its surroundings. After an introduction followed by a chapter aimed at more precise definition of individual life periods that shaped Sax's creative profile and has not been properly processed. The following section, in a short summary, introduces urban development in Čelákovice and approaches the options that the architect have had in the city. The fourth chapter is a catalog of still credited Sax's work, based on partial references in literature, and especially coming from an archival research. It includes both realized and yet preserved bulding, as well as one unrealized, yet for Sax's creative profile significant building. The final chapter defines Sax's creative contribution.

Analysis of tourism and development opportunities in Lázně Toušeň

The main aim of this thesis is to analyze the township Lázně Toušeň, especially in the field of tourism, in which the main role is played by the local spa. The work is divided in two parts; theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with one hand, general characteristics of the township, as well as the specifications of the spa. The practical part is focused on the SWOT analysis, program development community, analysis of tourism and the potential for future development.
