Face Identification
Částek, Petr ; Jaša, Petr (referee) ; Chmelař, Petr (advisor)
This document is trying to introduce the reader with issues of identifying the face connected with miscellaneous scanning technologies and enviroments. Inside this document there are mentioned some possibilities of creation unique print of a face so that there would be denied unwanted effects of enviroment and the identification of persons would be possible.
Recognition and Search in SKype Calls
Tomášek, Pavel ; Plchot, Oldřich (referee) ; Černocký, Jan (advisor)
The project aims at a system for recognition of Skype calls. One of the necessary project focuses is finding out a high-quality Skype recorder. Signal preprocessing (segmentation of speech/silence) and speech recognition follows. Another project interest is in choosing a presentation software, which meets the project needs. Essential part of this work is also indexing and search implementation. This project is a proof-of-concept and shows one of the ways of speech recognition utilization.
Indexing and Searching Semantically Annotated Texts
Panov, Sergey ; Dytrych, Jaroslav (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis solves the problem of search in the semantically enriched texts. The task of this thesis is to propose and implement a system for searching documents which  contain fragments defined by user and enrich entities or non-entities by syntactic and semantic information, which is not mentioned implicitly. The thesis focuses on analysis of existing solution and principles of MG4J engine. The problem was resolved by extending already existing system and implementing a new part, which ensure  the data collection. As a result two programs were implemented. One of them ensure the retrieval in document collection stored on a server and is a server-side application. The second one is a client-side application which ensures collection of data from the servers. The implemented programs allow to make advanced queries and get information, which is not explicitly mentioned in text, about entities of the real world.
Multimodal Database Search
Krejčíř, Tomáš ; Stryka, Lukáš (referee) ; Chmelař, Petr (advisor)
The field that deals with storing and effective searching of multimedia documents is called Information retrieval. This paper describes solution of effective searching in collections of shots. Multimedia documents are presented as vectors in high-dimensional space, because in such collection of documents it is easier to define semantics as well as the mechanisms of searching. The work aims at problems of similarity searching based on metric space, which uses distance functions, such as Euclidean, Chebyshev or Mahalanobis, for comparing global features and cosine or binary rating for comparing local features. Experiments on the TRECVid dataset compare implemented distance functions. Best distance function for global features appears to be Mahalanobis and for local features cosine rating.

Satellite data management and analysis
Krška, David ; Lokoč, Jakub (advisor) ; Nečaský, Martin (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to implement and test an interactive application for the analysis, visualization and classification of satellite data. The satellite data are preprocessed and automatically composed into colored images. The application allows to create and compare two types of classification algorithms. The first type uses single images and the second type uses multiple images of the same place, but at different times. We also created an interface for selecting and managing the training data. A few well-known classification algorithms of both types were implemented and their success rates were compared in an experiment. All the satellite data used in the experiment are from the Landsat program. The result of this bachelor thesis is an application primarily focused on classification. But the application could also be extended into a complex GIS system. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Comparison of native XML databases in terms of XML data management
Čižinská, Martina ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Kosek, Jiří (referee)
The basis of my work represents a research focused on the problematic of native XML databases. The main goal is to draw comparison between the selected database systems in a sphere of user control and management of XML data. Database products are tested via XMark benchmark test using its XQuery queries and testing XML data. Final comparisons and recommendations for use are based on the concluding evaluation and findings. The results of research may improve orientation in solved problematics. They could help with the selection of a suitable database product to store XML data.
