Impostor phenomenon and self-esteem among Czech university students

The aim of this thesis was to map the impostor phenomenon among Czech university student. A mixed design was chosen, the qualitative part of the thesis aimed to gain a deeper understanding of the phenomenon and to find out how students experience it. The quantitative part included the Clance Impostor Phenomenon Scale questionnaire. Out of three hypotheses, one was confirmed, namely that Czech university students would score above 61 on average on the Clance IP Scale questionnaire. The other two hypotheses, i.e. that females will score higher on the IF than males and that first year undergraduate students will experience IF to a greater extent than upper year students, were not confirmed. In the qualitative part of the thesis, common themes such as high expectations of oneself, family influence and inability to accept praise emerged.
