Secure power grid testing environment
Podola, Vojtěch ; Bohačík, Antonín (referee) ; Blažek, Petr (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the security of intelligent electronic devices communicating according to the IEC 61850 standard. The aim was to build a test environment in which this security could be verified. In the theoretical part, the individual elements of the standard and intelligent electronic devices are described, and potential vulnerabilities in the power industry are analyzed. In the practical part, a test environment is set up and discussed in detail in the context of two communication scenarios – normal operation and simulation of portscan, SYN-flood and GOOSE spoofing vulnerabilities.

Kozák, Ondřej ; Arm, Jakub (referee) ; Fiedler, Petr (advisor)
This thesis deals with the issue of communication of protection by IEC 61850 standard and reading, control and visualization of protections by DCS systém 800xA and PLC AC500 from ABB and extended visualization by cloud service Grafana. The IEC 61850 standard, its protocols anad the topologies used have been descibed in this work. Furthermore, the basic functions of the instruments used were described. The main part describes the procedure of creating SCD file for communication configuration and subsequent uploading to individual systems, creating visualization in DCS 800xA system, setting up communication between protection devices and reading from them using AC 500 PLC. For the cloud service there is a description of the implementation of the MQTT broker for sending data between PLC and database Influxdb that stores the data and forwards it to Grafana visualization environment.

Šikula, Jiří ; ABB, Oleksiy Melnyk, (referee) ; Polsterová, Helena (advisor)
This work describes the modbus communication protocol used in earlier and recent medium voltage switchgears. It also describes the IEC61850, a communication standard for most of the switchgear manufacturers as ABB, Siemens and others. It further describes the station automation gateway COM600, which is capable of conversion between many communication protocols. And finaly in this work you can find the concept of a device which is capable of conversion from IEC61850 to Modbus.

Stodůlka, Ivo ; Majer, Karol (referee) ; Orságová, Jaroslava (advisor)
The amount of information transmitted in automation systems has grown exponentially, since the modern digital protection and control devices had been introduced. These systems with different features, limited data flow and the mutual incompatibility were mostly based on the principles defined by vendors themselves. The international communication standard IEC 61850 was created with the aim of introducing definite rules and the structure into the communication part of the electrical substations with the application of the latest technologies. This standard also emphasises the mutual interoperability of the different vendors´ devices. This thesis is focused on the comprehension of basic principles, the practical application and the testing of digital protections with IEC 61850 communication standard implemented. The first part of my thesis is a theoretical one and describes basic principles, services and possibilities of the abstract communication model defined by IEC 61850 standard. The second part of my thesis describes the configuration of IEC 61850 communication standard of the protective terminal REF 542plus with the partial support of this standard including only the vertical communication and the subsequent testing using the OMICRON's testing tool IED Scout. The third part of my thesis is focused on the configuration of the feeder protection REF615 which has fully implemented IEC 61850 standard covering both vertical and horizontal communication by means of the GOOSE messages and the subsequent testing using the ABB's testing tool ITT600 SA Explorer. The testing of both protective devices was carried out in the laboratory of the protection relays on the testing panels at ABB PPMV Brno. The conclusion summarizes the contributions of IEC 61850 communication standard and there are also compared the engineering procedures of the protective terminal REF 542plus and the feeder protection REF615.
Cyber security for power engineering
Sedláková, Dáša ; Kohout, David (referee) ; Mlýnek, Petr (advisor)
Due to the IT and OT networks convergence, industrial systems are becoming vulnerable to different forms of security threats including rapidly growing cyber-attacks. Thesis is focused on an analysis of security recommendations in IEC 62351, vulnerability testing of industrial communication protocols (e.g., IEC 61850) and mitigations proposal. An ATT&CK framework for ICS was chosen to become a methodology base for vulnerability testing. ATT&CK tactics and techniques were used to practically test vulnerability scans, SMV time synchronization, GOOSE spoofing, MMS Man in the Middle and ICMP Flood attacks. Attacks tested were evaluated with a risk analysis. Subsequently, mitigation measures were proposed on several levels (OT, IT, perimeter and physical level).

Management of the energy transmission system polygon
Bohačík, Antonín ; Musil, Petr (referee) ; Blažek, Petr (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on the creation of a control interface for a polygon simulating the electrical distribution network of the Czech Republic, where communication between substations is realized by IEC 60870-5-104 protocol. The theoretical part of the thesis explains the basic principles, properties and possibilities of communication standards IEC 60870 and IEC 61850. The next part is focused on the actual implementation and subsequent implementation of the control interface, including the implementation of the IEC 61850-80-1 module for data transfer between the mentioned standards. The last part describes the created behavior scenarios or the analysis of communication itself.

Generator for simulation of SCADA attacks
Hudec, Jan ; Fujdiak, Radek (referee) ; Blažek, Petr (advisor)
Output of this bachelor’s thesis is an attack generator aimed on IEC 61850 protocol using the libpcap library. Part of the output is also a simulation of devices which are normally present in SCADA systems. Theoretic part aims to explain protocols DNP3, IEC 60870 and IEC 61850 more in-depth and further focus is on the attacks. Practical part contains attack implementation that aim on communication between SCADA units, more precisely on GOOSE and Sampled Values frames. Simulated devices generate this communication using the libiec61850 library. Attacks are aimed on that communication.
