The diploma thesis is focused on the use of elements of blue-green infrastructure in the built-up area. In the theoretical part of the diploma thesis, research focused on the current state of rainwater management in urbanized settlements is processed. The work also deals with current legislation in the given sector and subsidy titles that can be used for building elements of blue-green infrastructure. Individual objects of rainwater management and the principles of their design are also described. In the practical part of the work, two different variants of the drainage of the industrial area are solved, on which the theoretical principles of rainwater management of the mentioned part are applied. As a result is an objective comparison of variants from the point of view of ecology, economy and functionality.
New concept of large-area irrigation systems
Pírková, Marcela ; Štigler, Jaroslav (referee) ; Fialová, Simona (advisor)
This diploma thesis is focused on a large-scale irrigation embedded in the urban landscape. The main goal is to find a new concept of the large-scale irrigation system using a minimum of added electrical energy. The system is aimed at rainwater harvesting and distribution in populated areas. Part of the work is the analysis of the zoning plan of the selected locality, the design of the entire system from the accumulation of collected water to the distribution of watering to the root zone of plants. In the practical part, the proposed distribution network is calculated according to the current known equations, and the calculation is finished with the choice of a suitable diameter of the pipeline network. In addition, the work suggests possible sites for new planting of plants.
Stormwater management in frame of green infrastructures of cities.

The aim of the diploma thesis is to create an evaluation and recommendation of measures in the field of water management within green infrastructures of cities according to appropriate size. These measures apply to typical urban buildings managed by cities of this size. The first part of the diploma thesis deals with a research focused on the current state of stormwater management within the green infrastructure of cities. The legislative aspect is also outlined and measures and technologies for stormwater management are described. The practical part of the diploma thesis deals with a case study for the design of stormwater management within the green infrastructure of the city of Třešť. Stormwater management methods for various buildings owned by the city of Třešť are designed and economically assessed.
Význam modrozelené infrastruktury pro kvalitu bydlení.
Mynarčíková, Alena
The diploma thesis deals with ecosystem services of blue-green infrastructure in urban areas and their influence on the quality of housing. Literary research focuses on current knowledge and approaches to blue-green infrastructure, with an emphasis on the impact on quality of life in cities. Blue-green infrastructure is part of many international and domestic climate change adaptation strategies and its implementation should be supported. The literary part defines conditions for successful use in cities and presents good examples from abroad and the Czech Republic. The practical part contains an alternative proposal for the planned development of the new city district of Brno-Maloměřice. The design has chosen the optimal solution for rainwater management and interconnection with green areas and public spaces. The appropriate solution was based on the evaluation of the benefits provided according to the methodology, which proved to be a useful tool in balancing green with impermeable surfaces for maximum benefit.
Využití bylin v procesu úsporného hospodaření s vodou
Knotková, Kateřina
The presented master study is focused on sustainable rain water management with emphasis on proper use of plants in the process. This thesis connects information from foreign countries and puts them into context of Czechclimatic conditions and Czechlegal and technical standards. It defines term “dešťový záhon“ (rain flower bed) as a landscape element for rainwater infiltration that combines aesthetical, ecological and water management functions. Technical aspect and assortment of usable plant species is critically evaluated. Suitable technical variants are “vsakovací průleh” (rain garden), “vsakovací průleh s rýhou” (bioretencion system) a “vsakovací průleh s rýhou a regulovaným odtokem” (bioretencion system). The study includes also few examples of realized rain water management solutions. Drought tolerant species looks surprisingly as most promising for use in “rain flower beds“. Combination of annual, biennial etc. plants is possible; however perennials are most promising, while shrubs and trees usage is limited. “Rain flower bed“ can be established by plantingor sowing. Both having its pros and cons the combination of these two approaches is apparently best, because sowing allows reduce initial costs of new greenery, while planted perennials prevents erosion and operate as structural plants. Additionally 30 plant species were tested, whether they are usable for direct sowing. Experiment was established within the grant project IGA - ZF/2018 - AP001 on April 2018 in Mendeleum grounds of Faculty of Horticulture, Lednice. Preliminary results show low germination rates that are significantly dependent on climatic conditions. Of the 30 only six can recommend for now: Achillea ptarmica, Asclepias tuberosa, Cichorium intybus, Coreopsis lanceolata ´Sterntaller´, Phuopsis stylosa, Oenothera biennis. Better results can be probably achieved by sowing plants in autumn, however results of the autumn part of the experiment will be known after submission of this work.

Vacková, Michaela ; Kročová,, Šárka (referee) ; Polešáková, Marie (referee) ; Urbášková, Hana (referee) ; Kopáčik, Gabriel (advisor)
One of the main challenges in promoting rainwater management into practise is the fact that it was not recognized as an interdisciplinary issue. We should seek ways how to open the problem to other professions, specially for architects and urban planners, who are the key element of its farther development. This work analyzes the reasons of this unsatisfactory state of rainwater management in the Czech Republic and it defines the possible ways how to remedy this state and outlines scenarios of its further development. The default document of the work is czech technical standard "TNV 75 9010 Hospodaření se srážkovými vodami". The new methodological guide, which is part of this work, is based on it. The work extends the range of measures which are mentioned in the standard. It brings new ways for assessing the benefits of the various measures to streamline the application of rainwater management measures in urban space.
