Intelligent house for elderly people
Self-Sufficient Home for 9000 Inhabitants
Valový, Přemysl ; Rudiš, Viktor (referee) ; Mléčka, Jan (advisor)
The objective of this diploma project is to propose a new self-sufficient city for 9000 inhabitants. The city as a phenomenon accompanying mankind for centuries has become an integral part of a physical and cultural heritage of our civilization. Accumulation of its population, ideas and material possessions always led to the remarkable act of creativity and efforts, that was always pushing mankind further. Nowadays cities are faced with a myriad of crises, both economic and social. However we shouldn't forget, with a view to the future, the impending ecological crisis. The rapid growth of the past is followed by a gradual decay in the current age. Moreover, in today's globalized society, the town becomes materially totally dependent on its surroundings. It drains resources from less developed land to feed its inhabitants. We can hardly predict consequences that would arise if these resources were cut off. With the precipitous pace of urban growth and migration of the world's population into densely urbanized areas* arise to us a question, if in these non-urban (agricultural) areas will be still somebody, who will nourish these future metropolis? * (since 2010, more than a half of the world population lives in cities) The aim to create a new self-sufficient city isn't a kind of compensation for contemporary cities, but an attempt to create a working model that would be generally applicable on a present towns. It should hint the way, which they could take to achieve self-sufficiency, less dependence on imports, functional community life reinforcing a higher unity and sophisticated environmental legacy for future generations. The goal of these efforts is not a "moving the population into this model city", but the movement of ideas from model town into existing cities.
Play of Preschool Child
HANUSOVÁ, Tereza
A thesis deals with the theme of play of children at preschool age. In the theoretical part, the thesis focuses on the child at preschool age, in terms of its development, and also describes the most important moment at this age, namely child entering kindergarten and the socialization of children in kindergarten. It further describes the importance of play and describes the various types and forms of the game. The practical part focuses on the research of the game at home and in the kindergarten environment. Based on the observations of five children during their play at kindergarten and a subsequent interview with the mothers of these children, the difference of the children?s play of both type of environments was observed. The game of these particular children affected various determinants; namely sibling groups in which the child grows, the influence of television and computer games and a child entering kindergarten. Sibling groups significantly influenced the selection of a child?s playing partner in kindergarten, neither watching television nor computer games really inspired a child in his game; however the entry into kindergarten has a positive effect on the social behaviour of the child, but didn?t have a direct impact on the game. The research results show that the change of environment, respectively the home and kindergarten environment for the five investigated children does not have influence on the choice of mode of play, or the choice of toys. This suggests that once a child starts to prefer a style of play, it doesn't care about the playing enviroment.
Home nursing procedures in newborn and baby skin care
GENGELOVÁ, Gabriela
Abstract Hygiene plays a very important role in our lives. It is often influenced by social, cultural, family and individual factors, as well as by knowledge about health and hygiene. The skin of a child is very soft and sensitive, and therefore requires careful and considerate care throughout the whole period of childhood, especially in the neonatal period and infancy. Skin care of newborns and infants is an essential attribute of the child?s health care. Such care is an individual matter, and it will always depend on family circumstances in which the child lives and on a suitable and proper approach of parents and physicians. The aim of this thesis was to determine the level of knowledge of mothers and the use of such knowledge in skin care of newborns and infants at home. The second objective was to prepare educational material for mothers. The thesis makes use of the questionnaire method. For this purpose, 274 questionnaires were collected. The questionnaire was distributed to mothers of newborns and infants, who take care of their skin at home. The investigation was carried out at pediatrics in the South Bohemian and Pilsen regions. The results of the research are introduced using graphs and some of the results are statistically evaluated by a chi-square test. Two hypotheses were set. Hypothesis 1: Mothers have enough information regarding the skin care of newborns and infants at home. Hypothesis 2: Mothers correctly use the acquired information about skin care of newborns and infants. We were successful in answering both hypotheses in the research study. The analysis and evaluation of the questionnaires shows that mothers are knowledgeable in treating skin of their children in the neonatal period and infancy. However, we managed to prove that some information of the parents is inconsistent with the literature. Therefore an educational material for mothers was created, focusing on skin care of newborns and infants. This educational booklet may be used at pediatric wards.
Care of the soul by Jan Patočka and its necessity in the constitution of humanity
KOUBA, Vojtěch
The work deals with the idea of caring of the soul, as presented by Jan Patočka and its necessity for the constitution of humanity, which seeks to do good on the personal, societal, and global, ecological level. The first part deals with the care of the soul by Socrates and in the Platonian polis, there are highlighted some concepts related to education of its guardians. Then there are described three existential movements, which Jan Patočka educes from the care of the soul and its three aspects. In another part is firstly implied relation between the care of the soul and philosophy, and then the original theme and herewith the aim of these two activities. The last part is an attempt to show how it can happen, that we are talking about ?succour from philosophy?, then how to use the care of the soul for we could see the world as our home and what the consequences will be there, when we don't care of the soul and instead we paying attention only to the exact knowledge of modern science.
Vertical motives of landscape
HORYNOVÁ, Alžběta
This final work is practically oriented. It consists of painting series of eight landscapes with vertical themes. These are large format oil paintings. In the theoretical part I deal with the current perception of the relationship between man and land, which is based on the current concepts of landscape-painting. The examples of contemporary Czech landscape show some topics that have appeared in the last forty years. For example it is a landscape as a specific interface and abstract paintings, a landscape inside us, a landscape of our civilization. The thesis also discusses vertical motif, which marks the space between the two main elements of the landscape ? the sky and land, which is a fundamental area of human existence.
The psychotherapeutic potential of ergotherapy in the boarding houses with handicapped
HAUERLANDOVÁ, Milena
Homes for young adults with disabilities provide services to clients with various degrees of mental illness, frequently with physical impairment as well. In respect of age, children and young adults represent the largest part of users of housing services. The facilities try to offer services which ensure fulfilment of basic life needs, they provide substitution of home, leisure time activities and systematic personal development which is aimed at integration into everyday life in society not only by means of training to self-reliance. Occupational therapy (also known as Ergotherapy) and psychosocial rehabilitation represent significant components in the activities. In many facilities the problem is expertise of providers of the occupational therapy activities. Considering that the research is undertaken as exploratory, only working, general areas of research work resulting from research objectives are set, not individual hypotheses. Data were gathered by the questionnaire method. The participants of the research were staff members of selected Homes for people with disabilities situated in Uherský Brod, in Velehrad, in Javorník and in facilities of Archdiocesan charity in Prague. Criteria for selection of respondents was in this case social services worker and worker involved in the direct care for the client. The objectives of the thesis were accomplished. Although specific facilities provide clients with sufficient quantity of occupational therapy activities, from the perspective of the individual-client this effort is restricted by the lack of skilled and professional attitude and insufficient knowledge of the staff and to a certain extent also by facility that provides occupational therapy. Occupational therapy diagnostics in the Homes is applied on minimal level, based especially in long-term clients on original examination of their remaining functional potential. Regardless of possible positive changes in the client it does not offer further forms and methods of development, only preserving the present condition. To improve the current situation, it would be useful to carry out a detailed personnel research in all resident facilities for people with disabilities. If the results were similar to the results on my research, it would be advisable to hire an occupational therapist and to bring to effect legislative adjustment in standards of facilities and thereby prevent mistakes in providing the service.
„At Home“ in Borderland
Laštovková, Jitka
The following article is aimed at reception of category of “home” by Czech citizens from Czech-Bavarian borders. The unique characteristic of this area is... . mainly exchange of inhabitants after the WWII. The term home is interpreted as social construct, culturally and historically determined. Content of the interviews shows that home has its territorial, social and time dimension and mostly is associated with birthplace, residence or family. The perception is different among autochthons and newcomers and it differs according to generations, too. To a certain extent interviews controvert postmodern theories about progressive disappearance of home (Bauman, Keller) and they seem to testify the necessity to define, to build and to stay “home”.

Kalný, Ondřej ; Bílková, Diana (advisor) ; Meixner, Robert (referee)
This thesis concerns home insurance, with the main goal of raising awareness of this topic among both the public and specialists in the field. In reaching this goal, a wide range of statistical methods is used. The text contains five chapters. The first theoretical chapter deals with basic terms and an overview of the Czech home insurance market while the remaining four chapters concern practical aspects. From the four practical chapters, each deals with the topic from a different point of view. The second chapter deals with polls, the third looks at comparing different home insurance products on the Czech market, the fourth describes trends and forecasts of premiums and claims using a time-series analysis, and the last uses regression and cluster analyses to further describe this market. The set aim was reached using appropriate statistical methods and procedures. The analysis of the data received from polls, the comparison of different products and the creation of forecasts for further periods represent the biggest contribution to this thesis.
