Automated system for installing and configuring GNU/Linux virtual hosts
Horák, Daniel ; Polívka, Michal (referee) ; Pelka, Tomáš (advisor)
This work deals with possibilities of administration of virtual machines (mainly from the developer's point of view) and available methods for automatic installation of GNU/Linux distributions. First part contains the information about virtualisation technologies and possibilities to configure them with a libvirt library. The definition and specification of each part of virtualisation environment (virtual machines, disks, networks) using XML is described. Further more the possibilities of automatic installation of Linux distributions based on RedHat and Debian considering the virtualisation environment are discussed. The possibility of copying an existing disk with installed system is also mentioned. In a practical part a server application for control and management of virtual machines including automatic installation of operating system is proposed and realised.
SELinux application for Linux server security
Jirka, Michal ; Pelka, Tomáš (referee) ; Šimek, Milan (advisor)
This work is engaged in access control mechanism in GNU/Linux operating systems. At first discretionary and mandatory access control are compared and examine basic technologies based on mandatory access control. More closely is focused on project SELinux, whose generation of new rules is explained. Within the thesis is made application for logging evaluation and for writing new Type Enforcement rules.
Analyze of Open Source Solutions for Municipal Office Blansko
Veselý, Jakub ; Jančář, Petr (referee) ; Dydowicz, Petr (advisor)
The object of this mater’s thesis is to analyze current situation of information system at municipal office of Blansko and to review it. Subsequently to suggest other possible solutions and improvements. Formulation of economic and other advantages and possible disadvantages and problems that can occur in case of implementation of other OpenSource components.
Embedded system for date collection
Varga, Kamil ; Štohl, Radek (referee) ; Macho, Tomáš (advisor)
This master's thesis is describing problems of embedded systems and their development. Furthermore, the operating system GNU/Linux and it's cross-compiling is described. Hardware problems are analyzed too. Concrete solution is system which is able to boot from the USB disc and it is based on OpenWrt distribution running on Edimax BR-6104KP router. The whole solution is described the way which can lead to any general embedded system.
Spacewalk Plug-in for the APT Packaging Tool
Lukašík, Šimon ; Hrubý, Martin (referee) ; Smrčka, Aleš (advisor)
Spacewalk is an open source management solution for Linux systems. It works well with Fedora and Red Hat Enterprise Linux, where one can install and upgrade packages using yum and yum-rhn-plugin tools which download packages from Spacewalk. Unfortunatelly, for Debian, there is no such tool. This work reassumes Master Thesis of Lukáš Ďurfina, who added initial support for Debian in Spacewalk Server. The main goal is to write a plug-in for apt-get, which allows downloading the packages for a Debian system from Spacewalk.
Analyze of Open Source solutions for a small and middle size companies
Veselý, Jakub ; Veselý, Petr (referee) ; Dydowicz, Petr (advisor)
The object of this Bachelor‘s thesis is to describe the current software situation among small and medium companies and to demonstrate the possibilities of Open Source applications compared to closed source software. The possibilities of Open Software are clarified in terms of testing and studies. Case tudies show the potential of OSS/FS implementation in real environment. This work discovers the main benefits and disadvantages of Open Software and the reasons for their hitherto small usage.
The Concept of Computer Laboratory for Non-profit Sector.
Fáborský, Jindřich ; Vinter, Miloslav (referee) ; Ondrák, Viktor (advisor)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the project of computer laboratory for the Institution of Social Care for Disabled Youth - Kociánka realized with minimum costs of production. Using the computer network with thin clients and the operating system GNU/Linux serves for minimizing the costs. The thesis includes not only explanations of principles of technology, but also an implementation procedure for this project.
Hardware realization of hospital information system
Friedl, Jan ; Roleček, Jiří (referee) ; Fedra, Petr (advisor)
The presented work concerns problems of more effective using hardware and also free software. The first part of my work presents generally free GNU/Linux distributions and this part is concentrated on two distributions. The first is Red Hat Enterprise Linux which is installed in the server of the hospital information system Clinicom. The second is live distribution Slax that is used for testing of terminal connection to the hospital information system Clinicom. The second part of my work is generally concentrated on the hospital information systems and there is presented the firm SMS solution at the end. It is the hospital information system Clinicom. The next part is generally concentrated on the workload server monitoring. It monitors both userlogins and allocated memory size. Then there are discused problems of solution of unthought-of events, for example blackout, and the one solution is described there. The last part is concentrated on implementation of the security connection to the hospital information system Clinicom and it presents live distribution Slax as distribution for thin client.
CDN and clustering in GNU/Linux with performance testing
Mikulka, Pavel ; Pelka, Tomáš (referee) ; Šimek, Milan (advisor)
Fault tolerance is essential in a production-grade service delivery network. One of the solution is build a clustered environment to keep system failure to a minimum. This thesis examines the use of high availability and load balancing services using open source tools in GNU/Linux. The thesis discusses some general technologies of high availability computing as virtualization, synchronization and mirroring. To build relatively cheap high availability clusters is suitable DRDB tool. DRDB is tool for build synchronized Linux block devices. This paper also examines Linux-HA project, Redhat Cluster Suite, LVS, etc. Content Delivery Networks (CDN) replicate content over several mirrored web servers strategically placed at various locations in order to deal with the flash crowds. A CDN has some combination a request-routing and replication mechanism. Thus CDNs offer fast and reliable applications and services by distributing content to cache servers located close to end-users. This work examines open-source CDNs Globule and CoralCDN and test performance of this CDNs in global deployment.
Control System for Outdoor Mobile Robot
Skočdopole, Tomáš ; Burian, František (referee) ; Žalud, Luděk (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is the design and practical realization of control system based on operating system GNU/Linux for mobile robots operating outdoors. The task of the robot is automatically driving through waypoints in a previously unknown environment. First part contains a description of the environment for the implementation of software, introduces individual parts of the software and then describes communication with the robot peripherals. The second section describes the solution of control and navigation algorithms. At first shows a way to enter the path for independently moving, next an introduction to image processing from the camera and at last determining the direction of movement based on data obtained from the sensory subsystem.
