Personal and social dexis in political speeches by Jean-Marie Le Pen and Marine Le Pen

Personal and social deixis in political speeches by Jean-Marie Le Pen and Marine Le Pen (Jana Vlčková) Abstract The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyse the political speeches of the two National Front representatives - Jean-Marie Le Pen and Marine Le Pen. The text compares the personal and social deixis means used by both speakers in comparable communication situations. The theoretical part defines the communicational situation circumstances, the argumentation and the persuasive technics in the political speeches, as well as the personal and social deixis means. The ensuing analysis of the political speech corpus is inserted in the frame of the political party programme. We accept the method of the speech analysis according to the occurrence of the particular language means. The quantitative analysis is developed by examples of the given means in particular languages contexts. On the one hand, the text offers a comparison of the means used in different communication situations. On the other hand, it shows the differences of both speakers' expressing. Thus it brings a specific perspective in the view of differences between both politicians. Students' slang in the Québec French - formal and semantic analysis

The theme of this bachelor thesis is Students' slang in the Quebec French - formal and semantic analysis. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part focuses on the history of Quebec French and on the major differences between French used in France and French used in Quebec. It also contains definition of the most important linguistic terminology used later in analysing the Quebec slang. In the practical part you can find the research of students' slang in Quebec. There is also a complete corpus of expressions used which contains a comparison with French from France and suggestions of Czech translation. The thesis is completed with a French-Czech glossary.
French similes of the type "Adj-comme-N" compared to their Czech equivalents

The objective of this work is to compare French similes of the type "Adj-comme-N" to their Czech equivalents. The work consists of two parts. The first part is focused on the theoretic definition of phraseology and idiomatics and its units, phrasemes and idioms. It is followed by the definition of a simile, as a specific part of phraseology and idiomatics, and the characteristic features of the assigned group of similes. The samples have been extracted from the corpus frWaC. They are analysed in the respects of form, semantics and translation in the second part of this work. Most of our attention is paid to the aspect of translation. The main aim of this work is to outline some of the possibilities of the translation into the Czech language and to evaluate the degree of equivalency preservation.
The important figures of the French philology of Brno from the beginning up to now
KOUŘILOVÁ, Iva
This bachelor thesis deals with important persons of French philology of Brno from the beginning up to now and especially with one particular person - Otakar Novák. The work is divided into two parts. The first part describes the life and work of Otakar Novák before he started to work as a teacher at the university in Brno. The second part then describes his life and work since the beginning of his work in Brno until his death. Otakar Novák was born on 28 December 1905 in Vienna. He studied Czech and French language and literature at the university in Brno. Since 1946 he worked as an assistant at Charles University in Prague. In 1952 he was moved to Brno, where he worked until the end of his career. Besides being great teacher, he was lecturer at many conferences in Czechoslovakia and abroad, he has published seven books and dozens of articles, reports and reviews of French literature in particular and many forewords and afterwords to classics works of French literature. In 1969 he was elected chairman of the Circle of modern philologists and in 1964 was appointed professor of history of French literature. Otakar Novák was at the time the central figure of Romance studies of Brno and decisively contributed to its development in the area of French literary history, and helped her maintain an internationally comparable level.
Creation of Diminutives and Augmentatives in the Present-Day French

This thesis deals with the formation of diminutives and augmentatives in the present-day French. The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part there are explained the basic notions, such as: word, word formation processes, especially the derivation. Then the list of all augmentative and diminutive French suffixes is given. The practical part consists of two parts. At first there are presented all the French words ending with the diminutive and augmentative suffixes, found in the French electronic dictionary Le Petit Robert. Then, there is a research made in a parallel language corpus Intercorp. This research is based on the comparison of the formation of diminutives and augmentatives in French and in Czech. The aim is to introduce the formation of diminutives and augmentatives in French and then compare it with the Czech language.
Gérondif in French and its Czech Equivalents (Corpus Analysis - Intercorp)

Annotation The topic of the work is French gérondif. The work is divided into two main parts. The first part the theoretical one describes the form and deals with usage of Czech present participle, that is to say presumed system equivalent of French gerund. A current Czech usage usually opts for another form of formulation that is why the work tries to describe those minutely. In this part hypothesis about possible translation of French gerund into Czech are formulated. In the second part called corpus analysis, the work concerns with already formulated hypothesis that tries to argue against.
French and Czech terminology in European legislative texts from the domain: Police cooperation

The main theme of the bachelor thesis is the analysis of the Czech and French terminology used in the European legislative texts aimed at the section {\clqq}Police cooperation``. The first, theoretic part attends to the general principles used for the translation of the legislative texts and to the Czech and European institutions, which participated on the translation of the acquis communautaire into the Czech language. In the second part is described the analysis of the investigated specialized terminology in terms of accuracy of the translation, especially respecting of the obligatory forms in accordance with the terminology databases ISAP and IATE. A thematic French-Czech dictionary resulting from the created parallel corpus is introduced in the appendix.

This text focuses on the French self-peception in the modern world. French consider their concept of state and citizenship universal, as Americans do. But the two universalisms are built on a different basis in terms of religion, language and many other aspects. I analyze the clash of the two visions of the world and the French reactions to the American rise to power in the 20th century.
