Radar sensors for speed measurements
Doležal, Tomáš ; PhD, Jaroslav Čechák, (referee) ; Kokolia, Martin (advisor)
The main topic of this bachelor thesis is selecting a suitable microwave sensor for measuring the speed of vehicles in regular traffic, while covering multiple road lanes by a suitable method. Furthermore, the optimal one is selected in the form of search, based on the necessary parameters from commercially available radar sensors measuring primary speed. In the next step, simulation is performed for the selected speed sensor in the MATLAB environment, depending on its parameters and the modes in which it can work. The simulation also includes environmental influences on the received signal. There is introduced programmed graphical user interface for simulating a lot of situations on the road for two cars in the next section. Last section summarizes results of real measurement.
Indoor Detection of People Based on Vital Sign Sensing
Security application of mmWave sensors
Petržela, Lukáš ; Zamazal, Michal (referee) ; Valach, Soběslav (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on possible use of Texas Instrument´s sensors in security systems, especially for perimeter securing. It includes the overview of radar technology principles and describe of Texas Instrument´s radars principle. Appropriate sensors location has been designed and implemented, and a communication protocol has been designed. The functionality and reliability of the proposed solution has been verified. The results are analyzed and evaluated.
Microwave radar sensor data processing focused on detecting the trajectory of people
Uher, Adam ; Slováček, Miroslav (referee) ; Valach, Soběslav (advisor)
This bachelor ‘s thesis deals with a topic of people detection and tracking their movement in regions of interest. The individual methods that can achieve people detection are analyzed. To implement people detection and tracking their movement microwave radar sensor IWR6843AoPEVM from Texas Instruments is chosen for this task. This hardware and its software are described in detail. Then simulation is conducted to track people in a queue and its results are evaluated. Different advantages and disadvantages of individual methods are compared with each other. Finally, there’s a summary of possible implementations for this device and target platform is chosen to verify its functionality.
Radar sensors in mechatronics
Pulec, Matěj ; Formánek, Martin (referee) ; Brablc, Martin (advisor)
This work is studying the possibilities of using radar sensors in mechatronics. The theoretical part describes the basic principles of the mm-Wave FMCW radar sensor, along with several examples of their possible applications. The practical part describes three experiments testing the capabilities of this sensor. In these experiments, the the radar was found to be able to accurately and reliably track the position and speed of a moving object. However, problems arose when trying to determine the position of static objects and also when detecting the shape or orientation of both dynamic and static objects. For these purposes, the the tested radar appears to be an unsuitable type of sensor.
Radar Altimeter for Ultralight Aircraft
Absolon, Marek ; Zemčík, Pavel (referee) ; Maršík, Lukáš (advisor)
The main topic of this paper is a radar ranging for use in an aircraft altitude measurement. This should help beginner pilots in practicing landing and take off.   To achieve this aim, we chose to use continuous-wave radars with frequency modulation (FMCW). Our solution is based on linear frequency modulation method using triangular modulation pattern.   During the testing, it was found out, that radars with 24 GHz bandwidth have a range resolution from 1 meter (depending on modulation depth) to 13 metres. This range is sufficient for usage in training of takeoffs and landings, which is the real purpose of this paper. Another good finding is, that during takeoff and landing, there is minimal occurrence of doppler frequencies.   Final algorithm works on principle of two currently processed spectrums, which are substracted. Afterwards, found peaks are validated on current spectrum.
