The Death of Jesus - Sacrifacing himself for the People of God for Gerhard Lohfink
Kříž, Ondřej ; Frývaldský, Pavel (advisor) ; Mohelník, Tomáš (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to analyze, present and evaluate the concept of Jesus' death as a sacrifice for God's people in selected texts of the German New Testament exegete Gerhard Lohfink (b. 1934). The thesis briefly introduces the author's life and his areas of research. The second part presents the basic thought structures through which Lohfink approaches the life and mystery of Jesus of Nazareth. This second part also includes a brief christological analysis of Lohfink's texts. While the second part is mostly christological, the following section is focused on soteriology. This chapter is focused on Jesus' death itself. It shows the deep Old Testament background of Jesus' gestures and sayings. Lohfink's interpretation of Jesus' death then culminates in its conception as a covenant sacrifice that Jesus offers on behalf of God's people. Then, in our author's thinking, lays Jesus down his life for Israel, the church, and the world.
Initiation sacraments in canonical and liturgical law
BENEŠOVÁ, Marie
The Church sanctifies the world primarily by celebrating the liturgy and administering the sacraments. In the Catholic Church, we distinguish seven sacraments instituted by Jesus Christ. The thesis discusses the so-called initiation sacraments, baptism, confirmation and the Eucharist. Their acceptance is required in the case of repeated reception of the Eucharist for full initiation into the Christian life. The most sublime Eucharist is the source and at the same time the peak of all our actions. The thesis refers to both the biblical/historical roots and particularly to the current canonical and liturgical practice of administering initiation sacraments from the point of view of the canon law of the Latin Church (CIC/1983), the canon law of the churches of the Eastern Rite sui iuris (CCEO), official liturgical books (e.g., General Instruction of the Roman Missal) and other documents of the magisterium and relevant church authority concerning the liturgy.
Youth and Liturgy. Problems of the Liturgy Adapted for Youth and Some of Modern Forms of it
GUTWIRTHOVÁ, Kateřina
The diploma thesis investigates the possibilities of the adjustment of the forms of catholic liturgy, mainly Eucharistic liturgy, to the youth. The thesis is divided into five thematic parts. The basic characteristic of liturgy in general is to be found in the first part. The second part contains definition of youth and the results of research focused on the relationship of the youth to the liturgy. The third part describes three different concepts of youth divine service, which try to enable young people to build personal relationship with God. The following part deals with the relationship of young people to the liturgy and the parish community and possible adjustment of the divine service for youth within the church prescriptions. The alternative Holy Mass for youth is analysed in the last part of the thesis. The diploma thesis has proven that it is necessary to celebrate the liturgy adjusted to the needs of the youth and that it is possible and even advisable to use these adjustments even to the Holy Mass. At the same time the thesis has shown various possibilities how to adjust the liturgy to the youth.

Corpus verum et mysticum. The development of the relationship between the Eucharist and the Church in Theology from the 9 to the 12 century
Hrabánek, Lukáš ; Brož, Prokop (advisor) ; Mohelník, Tomáš (referee)
The Diploma thesis "Corpus verum et mysticum. The development of the relationship between the Eucharist and the Church in Theology from the 9th to the 12th century." is based on theological debates of the 20th century, concerning the application of the term corpus mysticum. While magisterial documents use this expression for the Church, a French theologist Henry de Lubac calls attention to the original holder - to the Eucharist. That's why this Diploma thesis is interested in a conception of the Church and the Eucharist, in their relationship and in their terminological development. It proceeds in chronological order. Initially it tries in a mentioned point of view to find and evaluate default texts in the Holy Scripture (Chapter 1), which were received by distinguished authors in the patristic period (Chapter 2). They influenced afterwards theologists of the Middle Age from 9th to 12th century. During this period the Eucharistic doctrine and the theological synthesis corpus triforme (Church, Eucharist and historical-heavenly Jesus) were being formed and developed; each of them was influencing the other one. It is possible to notice a cardinal change during the Eucharistic controversies, when the symbolic conception of Berengar of Tours was condemned by the Roman synod in 1078. That's why the...
Teaching of the Eucharist sacrament in Magisterial documents from the 2nd Vatican council to the present
Šiplák, Martin ; Mohelník, Tomáš (advisor) ; Brož, Prokop (referee)
The thesis Teaching of the Eucharist sacrament in Magisterial documents from 2nd Vatican council to present at first, concerns with the Second Vatican Council, where, first of all, deals with the selected paragraphs from the particular constitutions, which participated essentially on the formation and elucidation of the eucharistic dogma. For the reason of coherent image, not a single decree was left behind (1st chapter). The teachings on the eucharist after the Second Vatican Council is divided according to the pontificates, those are an interest of the following chapters (2nd - 4th chapter). Each chapter deals only with the most important documents of the period. At first, the structure for every document is presented and after that follows a commentary on the eucharistic teachings, that indicates effect of this sacrament (the source and the summit of all the action; the unity of church and faithful). The fundamental questions are: Why was the given document written? Who wrote it? On what did an author reacted? The main goal of the work is to show the continuous church teachings on the eucharist. For the church can not be divided in the pre- and post-conciliar.

Černoch, Petr ; Lukeš, Jiří (advisor) ; Kolář, Pavel (referee)
Petr Černoch - Dining together in the New Testament church from the collective memory perspective - Abstract The collective memory is a relatively new method of studying early Christianity that was taken from the humanities, especially sociology. This diploma thesis chose it as its method of studying the phenomenon of dining together, especially in the manifestation of the ritual of the Eucharist in the 1st century AD. In the first chapter, right after the introduction, this work briefly discussed the development of the study of memory from the collective memory of Mauritius Halwbachs with its social roots. He influenced contemporary memory studies through Jan Assmann, who developed his collective memory of the cultural and described its connection to New Testament research. By defining Cultural Memory, he showed strong links in religion between identity, myth and ritual. The work tried to define the terms myth and ritual with which it operates The next chapter deals with the linguistic and literary world of books, where the words of the establishment of the ritual of the Eucharist are located, discusses their structure and references to food or dining together. The work tried to show the view of the collective memory and thus shed light on some places of tradition and the origin of the ritual of the...
Saint Francis' quest for the Crucified through the San Damiano Cross
Růžička, Jakub ; Sládek, Karel (advisor) ; Červenková, Denisa (referee)
Saint Francis' quest for the Crucified through the San Damiano Cross Abstract The encounter with the Crucified is the constitutive element of the spirituality of Saint Francis of Assisi. The objective of my thesis is finding the deeper understanding of Francis' perception of the cross. The topic should be elucidated by the San Damiano Cross Icon and other moments of the Saint of Assisi's life. The study of Francis' relation to the cross will be put into an appropriate context: the theology of the cross is mainly ingrained in the Jesus Christ's Mystery of Easter. This knowledge is deepened in life of the Early Church and, through the enriching epoch-making interposition even the "poor little" of Assisi may experience its fruits. In the fundamental part of the text I will organize the key materials for the study of Francis' relation to the crucified Christ contained in the franciscan sources with the help of the newest literature. Therefore the thesis will offer a complex view to one of the crucial moments of Francis' conversion. Keywords Saint Francis of Assisi, San Damiano, icon, cross, theology of the cross, The Crucified, history of the cross, speaking cross, franciscan sources, St. Paul, St. Bonaventure
