Discussion in the Press about State Program of Electrification in Czechoslovakia before 1938
Týle, Prokop ; Čechurová, Jana (advisor) ; Jakubec, Ivan (referee)
This Bachelor thesis focuses on research of program of electrification in Czechoslovakia between 1918 and 1938. It utilizes political press and tries to think about this process from two points of view. Firstly, this thesis shows adopted laws concerned with electrification. That is followed with how the legislative process was reflected in main political press and also the way how the electrification was presented in public. Secondly, this thesis presents organizational structure of electrification in South Bohemia district. Then, it shows development of electrification in Tábor city neighborhood according to information in regional press. It should reflect how citizens could be informed about it at that time. Last chapter tries to reconstruct electricity costs development in countryside villages and in the Tábor city.
Electrification of Czechoslovakia until 1938
Mikeš, Jan ; Efmertová, Marcela (advisor) ; Zářický, Aleš (referee) ; Jakubec, Ivan (referee)
Electrification (or now rare and obsolete electrization), carried out in Czechoslovakia primarily in the interwar years (1918-1939) has gone down in history as a symbol of the construction of a modern independent Czechoslovak state and its democratic society, encapsulating its overall, predominantly building, ethos. Electrification was based on the expertise, invention and high educational standards of the country's electrical engineering elite that approached this particular task as a fully formed group (especially in the period starting from the last third of the 19th century) and as a particularly excellently organized one in terms of its professional unions, specialist scientific knowledge and potential use of its expertise in industrial plants and production centres for electrification. Its key platform was the Czechoslovak Electrical Engineering Union (Elektrotechnický svaz československý, Czech acronym ESČ, 1919), an association closely cooperating with the state authorities, primarily the Ministry of Public Industry and its State Power Council, with an agency that represented the country's vital standardization base and which soon grew to be the powerful Czechoslovak Standardization Society (Československá normalizační společnost, known under the Czech acronym ČSN, 1920); the ESČ also...
Nikola Tesla - Genius, who changed the World
Fexová, Lucie ; Beneš, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Čechura, Jaroslav (referee)
Nikola Tesla - Genius who changed the world This bachelor thesis tells the story of life and work of Serbian inventor Nikola Tesla and it's mainly dedicated to years, which he spent in America. In the context of that time it highlights the importance of his inventions, some of which have significantly affected today's technology. The largest part of the work, occupy two Tesla's long life disputes which affected his career and personal life. The first one of these, "war of currents", was between Tesla and Edison. The second one between Tesla and Marconi passed because of invention of radio. The development of both disputes is described from the historical, economical and technological side, which focuses on the consequences for today's world. At the end of the text, there is a brief presentation of lesser-known Tesla's inventions and various recognitions which he received for his contribution to science.
"Electric houses" - architecture and equipment of progressive tenement houses in late 1930's in Prague
Dvořáková, Nikola Tora ; Biegel, Richard (advisor) ; Macek, Petr (referee)
The bachelor thesis is focused on the phenomenon of electric houses in Prague namely rental houses from the second half of 1930s. Their basic element is the omnipresent electric enegry which fundamentally changed the living conditions in the apartment houses. Electric houses architecture is based on the international style principles which blend the luxourious living standards located in the suburbs with more economical city apartments. Electric houses represent spectacular form of housing beside the contemporary trend of minimal residential units. These houses became one of the major Prague street components despite the excessive luxury and supposed uneconomical electric energy. They replaced the period of family houses in the suburbs. The thesis deals with the principles and terms connected to these electric houses presented on several different architectural projects.
The developement of urban build-up area and urban infrastructure in Benešov in the years 1918-1939
Roubík, Michal ; Jakubec, Ivan (advisor) ; Sejk, Michal (referee)
In my diploma thesis "The Development of Urban Build-up Area and Urban Infrastructure in Benešov in the Years 1918 - 1939", I explore one chapter in the development of a small agricultural town during the era of the First Czechoslovak Republic. This thesis is a contribution to the history of Czech towns during the interwar period and its topic corresponds to the research project of the Institute of Economic and Social History at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague, within the frame of which I worked on this thesis. The thesis was written mainly based on research of the resources in the State District Archives in Benešov (a branch office of the State Regional Archives in Prague) and of a wide range of relevant specialized literature. The introduction consists of a chapter offering a complex summary of the most important moments and changes in the development of Benešov during the examined period. Apart from the history of Benešov, it also shows the role of the town in the region and the relation of its development to other municipalities in the country. The focal point of the thesis lays in the extensive yet lucid chapters examining architectural development of the town (the essential moments, context, but also particular interesting buildings) and the development of its infrastructure...
Antistatistic properties of materials in engineering practice
Vodička, Tomáš ; Rozsívalová, Zdenka (referee) ; Frk, Martin (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the properties of antistatic materials in engineering practice. The theoretical part described mathematically and physically electric field, the principle of electrification, triboelectric effect, types of electrostatic discharges, types of antitatic materials and methods of measurement surface and volume resistivity. In the practical part is designed the automated measuring workplace with electrometer Keithley 6517 and with the test chamber Keithley 8009, creating an application in Agilent VEE Pro, measurement of surface and volume resistivity on commercial materials and materials with various surface finishes, realized by cathode sputtering and the inclusion of materials in each group.
Proposal of new locality electrification
Foltýn, Petr ; Hájek, Ladislav (referee) ; Topolánek, David (advisor)
This master’s thesis is concerned with the proposal of new locality electrification. There are 59 detached houses. The thesis is divided into theoretical part and computational part. In the theoretical part, there are all documents necessary for the successful proposal of the electrification. In the computational part is drafted distribution substation, high voltage power cable, proposal of low voltage power cables and protection. Each part is made for two versions (for the degree of electrification A and for the degree of electrification C) and recorded in cadastral maps. The proposal of distribution substation and high voltage power cable is made by traditional method - all calculations are processed by the designer. Low-voltage power cables and protection are implemented in a computer program Sichr (version 11.01) OEZ company.
The economic uplift of the former political district Kaplice in the first half of the 20th century
PAVLÍK, Michal
The purpose of this paper is to describe the development of the economic life of the predefined region of the former South Bohemian political district Kaplice in the first half of the 20th century. The area of this territory was different than it is today. This district was formed by three judicial districts, which were Kaplice, Vyšší Brod and Nové Hrady, which must first be properly geographically grasp. The greatest emphasis is placed on the work of electrification of the district focused way, took place. In this work, emphasis is also placed on the way the local people tried to accept or reject electricity. Since it was a very poor region, after the industry, we are dealing with the problem of depopulation of the region. These issues are also engaged. Furthermore, I am concerned with other economic activities so that people in this area, a minimum interest of investors able to sustain a culturally developed. All of these things and many more can be found on the following pages.
