Voluntary instruments for environmental protection Abstract This diploma thesis focuses on voluntary instruments for environmental protection. The main aim is to provide a comprehensive overview of the most significant voluntary instruments, characterize them, demonstrate their practical applications, and analyse their legal regulation at the national, European, or international level. To adequately introduce the topic, the first part of this thesis is dedicated to environmental protection instruments in general. The second part delves into a group of voluntary instruments, providing a detailed description and historical context of their emergence within environmental policy. Subsequent sections of this thesis focus on selected voluntary instruments, categorized according to their assessed legal and practical relevance, for closer examination. The third part initially addresses voluntary environmental agreements (also known as agreements on protective conditions), which represent a relatively well-known legal concept in the national context and are regulated to varying extents by Law No. 114/1992 Coll., on Nature and Landscape Protection, as amended. Thesis deals with the reporting of sustainability development and its mode of administration of regular reports. The first section contains information ofsustainability development and a summary of the approach of the UN and the EU to sustainability development, which influenced business attitudes to the disclosure of periodic results using standardized reporting of sustainability. The second part analysis the situation of companies in the administration report brewing on sustainability and social responsibility. The aim is to develop recommendations for the creation of reports on sustainable development and social responsibility on the basis of previous analyzes and evaluation of their development.

The Voluntary Tools of Environmental Protection

The diploma thesis is focused on the voluntary tools of environmental protection, those representing a remarkably wide and variable group of tools. The aim of this thesis is to create an integrated and compendious overview of the previously mentioned tools applied not only in the Czech Republic, to outline its basic characteristics, ways of its usage, and its mutual combinations, including the analysis of the legal regulation of the voluntary tools. After the two introductory chapters dedicated to the environmental policy and the system of all tools of environmental protection the following chapter deals with the voluntary tools only, dividing them for the purposes of this diploma thesis into categories of regulatory, informative, and educational tools. Considering the extent of the topic, the author decided on a detailed analysis elaboration of the three chosen tools in the following part of the thesis. This literature review summarizes a beginning and development of environmental activities and then an issue of environmental behavior of companies. It describes how companies can minimize eventual negative impacts of their work on environment using voluntary environmental activities and properly working environmental management. The next goal of the work is an assessment of one specific voluntary environmental activity, which is a project called "Green Company". This one is specialized in waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and batteries. Nevertheless projects like this one can raise an interest of employees for environment, enhance their awareness and also help company to gain international certification like ISO 14001. Legal aspects of EMAS in the Czech Republic

Legal aspects of EMAS in the Czech Republic Abstract This diploma thesis is focused on "Legal aspects of EMAS in the Czech Republic". The aim of this diploma thesis is to characterize EMAS, analyse its legal aspects, both at the EU level and in the Czech Republic, and based on a study of relevant legislation and other sources comprehensively evaluate the legal aspects of EMAS in the Czech Republic afterwards. For purposes of introduction of the topic the introductory part is dedicated to environmental protection instruments in general while voluntary instruments, which include EMAS, are presented in more detail, and the second part is dedicated to environmental management systems. The third part of the diploma thesis analyses the key legislation of EMAS at the EU level, both its development and de lege lata regulation, and its other legal and other contexts, including an analysis of the legal context of EMAS in selected European countries. That three parts simultaneously comprise the characteristics of EMAS. Current information about changes in environmental legislation (Czech, Slovak, EU)

In the period September 2018 – July 2019, several amendments were made to the legislation of the Czech Republic and Slovakia that may have an impact on operators of hot dip galvanising installations. They are both legal amendments concerning major areas of the environment (air, water, waste) and other relevant legal regulations. On the the other hand, there were no major changes at the level of the European Union that would have an impact on operators of hot dip galvanising installations.
