Czech foreigen journalist of public media: comparison of conditions for execution of profession

The diploma thesis "Foreign Journalists of Czech Public Media: Comparison of the Conditions for execution of Profession" describes, maps and compares conditions for the work and life of permanent foreign journalists of public media institutions in the Czech Republic. These institutions are Czech Television, Czech Radio and Czech News Agency. After defining terms of public media, it continues by anchoring the public media in Czech legal system, a short description of history of each medium in context of foreign journalists, and the costs of operating a journalist network. Then it defines a journalist with regards to his or her profession and the necessary assumptions for doing such work. Later, foreign journalists are divided into several categories - permanent, ad hoc, freelancer, and war correspondent. Next, an operative part based on questionnaires had been sent to journalists and on two personal interviews with heads of the foreign editorial staffs of Czech Television and Czech Radio. The response rate to the questionnaires was over 60%. Use of the Czech Press Agency for the purpose of propaganda

Diploma thesis ,,Use of the Czech press agency for the purpose of propaganda" analyses the relationship between the Czech press agency, state and its executive in seven time periods from 1918 - 1993. Theoretical aim of this work is to delimitate the status and mission of the Czech press agency in relation to the state and its executive in each of the seven chosen periods, based on the official legislation. Practical part focuses on an analysis of ten randomly chosen news stories concerning government's activities from three different journals in each of the seven periods. Each analysed story contains one of the keywords government, party, minister or state. Each story is also produced by the Czechoslovak/Czech press agency. Main target of this work is to delimitate clearly the relationship between the Czech press agency and the state, then subsequently demonstrate, using qualitative analysis, how was this relationship reflected in the content of agency's news. For example, how was the communication between the Czech press agency and the state changing and how was the communication between the state and the public through the Czech press agency changing in each of the analysed periods. The ČTK as a source of main television news sessions

This diploma thesis is describing the influence of Czech Press Agency on major television news programs. Theoretical part is defining, what the agenda setting is and how medias handles agency news. Significant part is also dealing with description a characteristic of media functioning. In practical part, author is measuring the influence of Czech Press Agency by using method known as quantitative content analysis. As proven, agency have a significant, but limited influence on televion broadcasting news. Thesis in last part deals in detail with the analysis of this influence.

Bachelor's thesis Karlovy Vary International Film Festival's reflection in the news of Czech news agency (ČTK) deals with traditional cultural occasion in Karlovy Vary an its reflection in the news of the biggest press agency in the Czech republic. This important cultural occasion in bath metropolis can compare with much bigger film parades in Europe - as famous film festival in Cannes or Berlin. Besides the films every year there are also many film star guests and other important people from film industry. Because of that Karlovy Vary International Film Festival is always very attractive for many fans and also journalists. Especially for journalists for journalists - how sometimes the agency redactors are called. Besides the content of the released news this thesis also deals with their formats and chosen metadata. Focuses on frequency and intensity of news of ČTK in various pursued periods of year connected with the festival. Besides the quantitative analysis the last year of the festival thesis also deals with comparison of news production of the agency from years 2004 and 2009. A media picture of the Russian federation made by ČTK and its comparison with ČT reporter's news in the first half of 2012

Objective of this paper is to analyse the media picture of the Russian Federation as it was presented in the two Czech public media - Czech press agency and Czech television. The notion of media picture is brought into wider perspective of current media theory. The main subjects - the two media and Russia - are presented. Special emphasis is taken while challenging the significance of foreign news as a whole, and in particular, and also describing the specific features of the work of foreign correspondents in Moscow. Analytic part of the work deals with setting a proper research of media content involving Russia. The four stage quantitative content analysis tries to discover the volume of foreign news from Russia presented by the media chosen in the first half of 2012; topical, agentive, tone and source agenda of Czech television and Czech press agency concerning Russia; topical, agentive, tone and source agenda of both the two foreign correspondents seated in Moscow at the time; comparison of the diverse outcome of each medium.
