Crowdfunding and its application in the field of public goods

This bachelor thesis describes discipline of crowdfunding and possible use of its methods in the issue of public goods. The aim of this thesis is to clarify purpose of crowdfunding and prove this funding method is applicable to public goods. First part defines principles, operation and possible risks of crowdfunding. Description of public goods follows. Third chapter analyses benefits of funding public goods through crowdfunding. The final part shows real crowdfunding campaigns in which public goods are funded.
Zvyšování efektivnosti crowdfundingových kampaní

The aim of this thesis is to analyze crowdfunding campaigns on Kickstarter, and contribute towards increasing the effectiveness of such campaigns, as most campaigns are unsuccessful. The theoretical part will focus on defining crowdfunding as the new phenomena of capital distribution and compared with other forms of financing new ideas. The empirical part focuses on a paired comparison analysis of campaigns from two various locations and three industries in total. Factores affecting the successfulness are analyzed and a pattern which would help towards solving the initial problem is looked for. The aim of the thesis was fulfilled by giving recommendations which have an impact on the success rate.

The bachelor thesis is concerned about crowdfunding and focuses on two Czech campaigns, which were successful. Its main objective is to clarify this concept, to bring the total history of collective financing, explain its various kinds, legal form, and finally evaluate its pros and cons. In the practical part is dedicated to two Czech crowd funding campaigns that have succeeded with their contributors. There are ten questions answered for each of them from the founders that bring their experience with this kind of funding.
Issues Of Community Financing In The Czech Republic

This thesis is focused on issues of community financing, also known as crowdfunding, that is at present a popular form of obtaining financial resources to different projects. In my thesis, I explore a data set of 150 observations of individual projects from the platform HitHit, which operates in the Czech republic. The empirical part reveales the influence of different factors on the success of a crowdfunding campaign. Some of the significant factors are different ways of spreading informations (web pages, social networks or television broadcast), variability in offered rewards, aspects of the video on the platform, local restrictions, demanded amount of money, but also the length of a project description. The main contribution is the revelation and explanation of some factors and the use of econometric models in Czech crowdfunding scene.
Develompment of crowdfunding in Czech Republic

The purpose of this thesis is to describe the development of crowdfunding, the alternative way of financing projects, in Czech Republic since its establishment to the present. The introductory part describes a theoretical definition of the concept of crowdfunding. The second part is devoted to the description of the development of both foreign and Czech crowdfunding platforms. Third section identifies the factors influencing the success of the project incl. practical examples. The following chapter examines specific examples of successful projects based on statements of project creators. The next chapter is based on survey of crowdfunding awareness among the Czech public. Lastly there is a list of expected trends and possible future developments of crowdfunding platforms.
INDIVIDUAL GIVING

Only a few cultural organizations in the country are devoted to development and continual work with individual fundraising. Many other cultural NGOs stands at the beginning of creating a strategy and planning individual fundraising in general. For this reason, this diploma thesis deals with potential and usable strategies in individual fundraising, donors motivation based on Czech surveys, case studies of cultural organizations with the potential in individual giving and other aspects. The summary should provide basic knowledge framework for the creation of strategies for cultural organizations that may find out desire and motivation to pursue potential of individual fundraising in the future. This thesis seeks to change stereotypes in thinking about individual fundraising as a way of raising funds without the potential and historical context.
Fundraising of the festival Štěrkovna Open Music

Goal of this Bachelor´s Thesis is to summarize current situation of the fundraising of the festival Štěrkovna Open Music. At first we define general term of fundraising and its connection with the commercial sphere, then we look at the possibilities of the financial sources for the music festival. Then we will continue with current situation in the connection with the fundraising, which methods organizations use and we try to find space for development of the fundraising. In this Bachelor´s Thesis will be named benefits for the businessmen, which are related with support of the festival Štěrkovna Open Music. In the next part there will be analysis of the possibility of the crowdfunding, where we ask question about the support with this form of raising money. We will summarize the exploration from the music festival in 2014, what it contained and the results of the exploration.
Analysis of success factors of the crowfunding campaign in IT field

Bachelor thesis deals with crowdfunding success factors in IT. The aim of this work is to find these factors and their verification. The theoretical part describes crowdfunding as a whole and a website Kickstarter, which is dedicated to running crowdfunding campaigns. There are explained the key concepts of Kickstarter, described the history and rules. This section also explains who can use services of Kickstarter. Furthermore, this chapter describes why gaming industry was chosen specifically for this analysis and what its importance in crowdfunding is. Next part is devoted to foreign and Czech alternatives to Kickstarter. In the next section there are designed possible success factors and how they can be verified. This part describes a statistical method to test these factors. In the practical part there was made analytical evaluation of successful and unsuccessful campaigns. Then statistical test are performed to determinate factors depending on the success of the campaign. Objective of analytical evaluation of the tests was to determine the success factors. As the most important success factor was found to be a large degree of activity on social networks.
Financing of microcompanies

The topic of thesis is analysis and comparation of possibilities of financing unspecified microcompanies because they forge majority on the market. Due to the fact most of those companies are not highly inovative but follow the ordinary market model therefore they can rely mostly on common types of fundraising from financial institutions. Alternative forms such as venture capital or private equity focuses mostly on different segments regarding investment size and growth potential. Thesis should provide practical review not only to beginning entrepreneurs about possibilities of financing their further growth including example of recently financed business and what to beware of while requesting external financing. The reader will get to know what are the basics for financing common microcompany and what are the possibilities of further alternative support provided for instance from the government.
"Crowdfunding" and its possibilities in the Czech Republic

This thesis explains the issues of crowdfunding. It focuses on Czech Republic, its development, present situation a future potential of crowdfunding. The aim is to identify the parameters that help to ensure the success of financing projects through crowdfunding. In the first part of the thesis, the crowdfunding, its principle and process are analysed from the theoretical point of view. The second part presents the development in the world and in the Czech Republic and includes analysis of successful and unsuccessful projects on the selected czech portal. The last section discusses conclusions from the analysis in order to help understanding the important parameters of successful financing. All the pieces of knowledge are reviewed at the end of the work.
