ČULÁKOVÁ, KATARÍNA. Contribution to the Study of the Mesolithic Settlement in Bohemia. Prague: Faculty of Arts, Charles University, 2015, 742 p. (including appendices and plates), PhD. thesis. This thesis wants to present lithic collections. Part of them come from an Eastern Bohemian region and part of them from the Bohemian Forest region. A majority of the collections wasn't previously published and was processed for the purpose of this thesis, part of the information was obtained from published articles. This thesis presents a collection of 25 000 lithic pieces from Eastern Bohemia and 3 500 lithic pieces from the Bohemian Forest. At first there are the most numerous sites described according to their position in the landscape and composition of the lithic collection. Then there is a whole collection characterised according to the used raw material, typology and used technology. This information is incorporated into the wider frame of Central European mesolithics. One of the most interesting features of the collection is the variability of raw materials, which is especially high in the Eastern Bohemian region. From the technological point...
Amount and differences in snow accumulation in the Šumava region
Procházka, J. ; Šustková, V. ; Tesař, Miroslav
The Šumava Mts. (Bohemian Forest) represents the most extensive mountainous range of the Czech Republic and due to its area and altitude it catches the substantial portion of the winter precipitation in the snow form. Unfortunately, the more continuous information on snow characteristics from the highest and remote regions of the Šumava Mts. has been in effect missing till recently. From this reason the activities focused on the more detailed expeditionary field measurements of the snow depths and snow water equivalent. The space analysis of point snow cover measurements the appropriate tools were used: ArcGIS (ESRI), orographical interpolation, LLR methods and the methods of ClidatDEM used in the Czech Hydrometeolological Institute.
Snow and winter precipitation measurements in the Šumava Mts. for data and maps improvement
Procházka, J. ; Šustková, V. ; Tesař, Miroslav
Substantial extension of the automatic station with the snow monitoring arises during last years. Expeditionary field measurements have been simultaneously worked out in order to give precision of winter precipitation totals and snow characteristics. Based on these activities and findings, besides the actualization of the relevant data, maps of rainfall and snow cover are created and they are presented in this contribution.
Proposal of an educational nature trail for primary school pupils in the Český les (Bohemian Forest) Protected Landscape Area
SVOBODOVÁ, Věra
Places and objects of both natural and historical interest located with in the Český les (Bohemian Forest) Protected Landscape Area are dealt with, focusing on the nature and history related topics. A route comprising 14 educational stays mutually combinable according to the relevant subject matter is proposed, which makes many alternative routes possible. In view of the difficulty grade, this walk is suitable for the primary school forms four and five. For most of the educational stays a working sheet has been elaborated, and for the guides a methodical handbook containing instruction for each and every stay mentioned. Proposing this, this diploma thesis aims at acquainting (at least partially) the beauties of the almost intact nature of the Protected Landscape Area said to the school children, arousing interest in its protection in them.

PIKSOVÁ, Lucie
The topic of mine submitted dissertation is the historical and present form of glass industry at the Bohemian Forest. I focused on the development of the glassmaking process during the 19th and 20th century and its present conditions The thesis is split into several parts. The introduction is focusing on the glassmaking process and history at the Bohemian Forest till the 20th century and I emphasized the conditions of the glass industry during the 19th century in that part. The following part observes and analyse the conditions of glass-factories in the 20th century and the study of particular periods is as well elaborated in this section. In the third part I paid attention to the contemporary Bohemian Forest glassmakers who are still operating there. The last chapter is focusing on the future development of glassmaking at the Bohemian Forest. It is followed by a list of German local names and their Czech equivalents. Finally, the entire work is enclosed by the attached illustration.
Structural tectonic and morphometric characteristics of the Upper Otava river basin
Burkytová, Šárka ; Hartvich, Filip (advisor) ; Stemberk, Jakub (referee)
The thesis deals with the structural-geomorphological characteristics and morphometric analysis of the Upper Otava River basin, located in the Šumava Mountains. The introductory part is focused on the literature search, in which the area of interest is evaluated in terms of physical-geographical characteristics. The review also deals with an overview of methods of structural geomorphological research with a focus on morphostructural analysis of relief. The structural-geomorphological characterization was established by means of a joint analysis of selected sites where the direction of the joint surfaces and their slope were measured. A morpholineament analysis and fault tectonics analysis were also done to define the morphostructures. The individual morphostructures were evaluated using morphometric analysis methods and compared using morphostructure synthesis in terms of their similarities or differences. Finally, the geomorphological evolution in the area of interest was outlined. Keywords Morphostructural analysis, structural measurements, Šumava mountains, morphometry, morpholineaments
Extinct Landscapes in Documentary Photography
Portešová, Anna ; Géla, František (advisor) ; Lábová, Sandra (referee)
The aim of the diploma thesis was to create a photobook on the topic of extinct landscapes, which is a look back at the history of three Czech localities and in which I present a set of photographs that I compare with photographs from the period. I focused on defunct places that were architecturally, historically or geographically significant - namely old Prague, Bohemian Forest and Ralsko region. All these localities are united by the unnaturalness and insensitivity of their changes. Given that this topic concerns not only buildings and cities, but also the natural landscape as such, the work also takes on an environmental character. I anchored all these aspects in the theoretical part of the work, in which I deal more closely with the phenomenon of documentary photography, architectural photography, as well as the phenomenon of disappearing landscapes and their reproduction in Czech photography.
