This thesis deals with child labour, mostly in developing countries, which are also one of the poorest regions of the planet. The aim is to determine the method of comparative analysis here the emphasis on improving children's education can be a tool to eradicate both child labour and poverty. The thesis also deals with the idea that child labour is a consequence or cause of poverty. The theoretical part deals with basic concepts, such as child labour, childhood, the importance of education. The theoretical part also deals with international organizations such as ILO, UN and OECD which are actively involved in the fight for children's rights and actively promotes the idea of removing children from work. Plný, Petr ; Pikhart, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Štípek, Vladimír (referee)
This work researchs whether the cause of poverty in Africa is lack of capital as it's claimed by the theory of the vicious circle of poverty or low rate of economic freedom. The validity of the theory of the vicious circle is a basic prerequisite for the provision of foreign aid. Its opponents claim it put exaggerated emphasis on the narrowly defined capital and it ignores other growth factors, especially the quality of institutions expressed by the rate of economic freedom. The results of a literature search of the vicious circle of poverty. The cumulative regression model panel data confirms the hypothesis about the statistical significance of the impact of changes in the rate of economic freedom the African country on its standard of living. The transformation of the model to models of individual effects but subsequently the hypothesis about statistical significance couldn't unequivocally confirm. Several regression models with cross-sectional data subsequently it accepts the hypothesis of African country with a higher rate of economic freedom it achieves a higher standard of living as well than countries with a lower rate of freedom.
The Poverty in the Developing World
Rožánková, Alice ; Kotýnková, Magdalena (advisor) ; Doležalová, Antonie (referee)
The theme of this diploma thesis is "The Poverty in the Developing World", the poverty that not only less developed countries mainly in Africa, Asia and Latin America suffer from, but developed countries that are trying to help the developing world suffer from it as well. How much is that help important and what kind of help is crucial for the developed countries, that is the main subject of this thesis. The theoretical part is based on the available economic theories that solve the vicious circle of poverty in which these countries are trapped. Leading economists mentioned in the theoretical part are Thomas Malthus, whose study was one of the first, then Thomas Merrick, Albert Hirschman, and many others. The practical part deals with three countries, which connect the African continent - Somalia, Angola and Botswaa. Each of these countries is currently in a different situation, but their initial conditions were the same - the hole in the vicious circle of poverty. The conclusion of this work is a prediction of the future development of these countries and recommendations what direction they should go.
Neverending african way out of vicious circle of poverty
Schwarzová, Markéta ; Písař, Pavel (advisor) ; Loužek, Marek (referee)
In my baccalaureate thesis I would like to analyze the effeciency of existing develompent assistance to the poor countries (based on Africa). I will evaluate the results of the policy of The International Monetary Fund and World Bank, and review their contribution to the critical situation in these countries. I will also address the denying of the theory of the "vicious circle of poverty" and outlining a possible solution for Africa helping it to fight the poverty -- in the form of microcredits. I would like to emphasize the fact that "develompent assistance " might be a misleading yet powerful term. It is misleading because it is not a voluntary assistance, and according to the latest results it is not even an effective assistance. It is more negative and this negates the meaning of the word " assistance ". It is powerful with respect to a question to whom exactly this "development assistance " helps -- if it is not to the people of developing countries for whom it is intended? And why instead of searching for another way to fight the poverty immense amounts of money are spent although the history proves that this kind of help has negative influence to the economies of developing countries and in reality it harms more than it helps.
