Tato práce zkoumá, zdali je příčinou chudoby v Africe nedostatek kapitálu, jak to tvrdí teorie bludného kruhu chudoby, nebo nízká míra ekonomické svobody. Platnost teorie bludného kruhu je základním předpokladem pro poskytování zahraniční pomoci. Její odpůrci tvrdí, že klade přehnaný důraz na úzce definovaný kapitál a ignoruje ostatní růstové faktory, především pak kvalitu institucí vyjádřenou mírou ekonomické svobody. Výsledky literární rešerše bludný kruh chudoby vyvracejí. Souhrnný regresní model panelových dat potvrzuje hypotézu o statistické významnosti vlivu změny míry ekonomické svobody afrického státu na jeho životní úroveň. Transformace modelu na modely individuálních vlivů však následně hypotézu o statistické významnosti nemohla jednoznačně potvrdit. Několik regresních modelů průřezových dat následně přijímá hypotézu, že africký stát s vyšší mírou ekonomické svobody zároveň dosahuje vyšší životní úrovně, než státy s mírou svobody nižší. This work researchs whether the cause of poverty in Africa is lack of capital as it's claimed by the theory of the vicious circle of poverty or low rate of economic freedom. The validity of the theory of the vicious circle is a basic prerequisite for the provision of foreign aid. Its opponents claim it put exaggerated emphasis on the narrowly defined capital and it ignores other growth factors, especially the quality of institutions expressed by the rate of economic freedom. The results of a literature search of the vicious circle of poverty. The cumulative regression model panel data confirms the hypothesis about the statistical significance of the impact of changes in the rate of economic freedom the African country on its standard of living. The transformation of the model to models of individual effects but subsequently the hypothesis about statistical significance couldn't unequivocally confirm. Several regression models with cross-sectional data subsequently it accepts the hypothesis of African country with a higher rate of economic freedom it achieves a higher standard of living as well than countries with a lower rate of freedom.
