Great Historical Floods in South Bohemia and their Impacts
Munzar, Jan ; Ondráček, Stanislav
The first plausible records about the occurrence of historical floods in South Bohemia originate from the 16th century (e.g. in June 1582). However, should we investigate about the last high water approximately comparable with the flood of 2002, we would arrive at the year 1890. This indicates that the contemporary event occurred after a time lapse of 112 years. The end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century saw an increased occurrence of great floods. In addition to year 1890, the most severe high waters occurred for example in 1880, 1897, 1903 etc. Following the great flood on the Vltava (Moldau) River in 1888, there were great floods or more important high waters in South Bohemia arriving in regular 2-year intervals in the period of the following eight years, i.e. in 1890, 1892, 1894 and 1896. The present period of the increased occurrence of great floods is therefore a certain analogy.

Šťastná, Alice ; Veselý, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Šauer, Jaroslav (referee)
This bachelor thesis reports on the position of Austria in international relations in the 20th century. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the change in its position in the international framework: after World War I, the Central state of the Habsburg empire was reduced to a poor small country which became a part of Nazi Germany after twenty years of its existence. Even though Austria was liberated in 1945, the State treaty restoring the state sovereignty and putting an end to a period of allied occupation was signed at as late a date as 1955. This year in recourse signifies the beginning of Austria's modern history. The thesis is divided into 4 chapters. The first chapter maps the development of Austria until the beginning of World War II, the second one deals with the war time in relation to the negotiations about the future shape of the country and the post-war situation. The third chapter is focused on the ten years of occupation and the struggle over the State Treaty. The last chapter analyzes the Declaration of Neutrality, the policy of neutrality, foreign policy as well as the efforts to participate in the European integration process.
