Rybáčková, Nikola ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Köpplová, Barbara (referee)
This master's thesis focuses on how the Czech Television covered the one hundredth anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia in its main evening news program. It was an important theme of the whole year 2018, it wasn't the only anniversary we commemorated in that year, though. In 2018, eighty years have passed since the signing of the Munich Agreement in 1938 and seventy years since the 1948 Czechoslovak coup d'état. It's also been fifty years since the Prague Spring and the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968. Last but not least, we celebrated twenty-five years since the founding of the Czech Republic in 1993. All these events are significant milestones in Czech and world history of the twentieth century. Therefore, the thesis analyzes to what extent Czech Television dealt with these events. The aim of the thesis is to get an insight into the coverage of this topic throughout the year 2018 and to find out how much space was provided for each anniversary and what the nature of the posts was.

Afterwards Vaclav Havel was elected president, he made a contribution to the transition to a democratic system of government. There is also described the process of changing the name of the state, which has proven to be one of the most difficult to resolve disputes between Czechs and Slovaks, like that the controversy over the Competence Act and the contract between the Czech and Slovak Republics, which are also analyzed in this work. I also consistently described the parliamentary elections of June 1992, the results of which led to the division of Czechoslovakia and the presidential elections, held in early July 1992, including a large number of comments from newspapers of the time.

This bachelor's thesis seeks to examine the causes of failure of health care reform which was debated in the United States of America during the 103rd Congress in 1993-1994. The reform was closely connected with president Bill Clinton and its main aim was to enact a universal health insurance. A universal health insurance has no tradition in the United States. The thesis begins with a brief summary of traditional American values that resulted in establishing a very different system of health care from the one common in most European countries. Following is a brief historical overview of the development of American health care from the 19th century till the end of the 1980s, which outlines the problems leading to the need of the reform. Subsequently, the process of reform preparation and Congress debate are examined and the most important and controversial modifications of the system are unveiled. In the following chapter, reasons for the failure of the reform proposal are analysed. Those reasons are divided on the basis of their matter into two parts. A viewpoint of the GOP, the most important counter-proposals of members of Congress, opinion reversal of the public, employers' and interest groups' objections are described in the first part. Errors committed by the Clinton's administration during...
