Analysis of social conditions of workers from the main mining enterprise for silver and lead of St. Karel Boromejský in Příbram accepted between years 1880-1890

This bachelor thesis is focused on the elaboration of chosen data from so called mining personell records, which were used for registration of new employees from the main mining enterprise for silver and lead of St. Karel Boromejský in Příbram. A database in Microsoft Excel will be created. The period between years 1880-1890 shall prove to be crucial for the research. Mainly quantitative method and a method of a probe will be used. The main emphasis shall be laid on the ascertainment of the time of employment, the age of employees and their marital status. The results will lead to a further research.

The second chapter describes the asimilation process. The concrete example are from local administration books, demography and Jewish cemeteries.The third chapter compares both chapters and makes the result for the question.
Traveler Čeněk Paclt (1813-1887) - the first Czech that has ever been to all five continents in respect to historical anthropology

This dissertation analyzes the life of Czech traveler Čeněk Paclt (1813 - 1887), who was born in the town of Turnov. Čeněk Paclt belongs to the most famous Czech travelers. He is also the first Czech, who has provably traveled through all five inhabited continents and has left written evidence about his journeys. Fundamental part of this thesis is focusing on his life and describes his adventures, which he had come across on the five continents. The thesis is written in historical, and employs historical anthropology, which focuses on a single individual in the course of human events, as one of the main methodological approaches. Secondarily, this thesis elaborates Paclt's personality and his view on aboriginal cultures, which he encountered during his travels, and Paclt's relationship towards his hometown is also mentioned. Furthermore, the dissertation touches upon traveling background in Czech nation during 19th century.

The introductory chapters describe the reasons for the economic, social and political crisis, resulting in the unrest in Europe in the early 15th century and is shown activity Hus's predecessors Konrad Walhauser, John Milíč of Kromeriz, Matthew of Janov, Vojtech Raňkův from Ježov, Thomas Štítný of Štítné. The diploma thesis is also engaged in the work of John Wycliffe, who influenced the thinking of scholars throughout Europe, including Bohemia, where from his thoughts and opinions drew Jan Hus. The core diploma thesis is to analyze the life and the work of Jan Hus, its importance for the development of Czech history. Hus, influenced by his predecessors, became a leading critic of the Church and its influence goes beyond the 15th century. The diploma thesis shows the influence Hus's thoughts and actions in education and elementary education in the 15th and 16 century. Hus influenced the development of the Czech language and spelling. The ideas of Jan Hus had affected the brotherly unity, that followed the Hussite movement intellectually and spiritual legacy of Jan Hus thanks to John Blahoslav and John Amos Comenius. The Foreign Policy of the Habsburg Monarchy during the Crimean War

The thesis is focused on presentation and evaluation of the development of foreign policy of the Habsburg Monarchy during the Crimean War in years 1853/4-1856. Its traditional position between Russia and the Western powers and complicated complex of internal problems prevented Austria from being involved with either side of the conflict. The policy of neutrality, adopted by Prussia and the German Confederation during the war, on the other hand, could not ensure sufficient protection of the Austrian interests concerning the Eastern Question. For this reason, the Habsburg Monarchy decided for its own independent policy, based on escalating pressure on Russia and attempts at restricting the war aims of Great Britain and France to an acceptable limit, and thus achieve a peace treaty as soon as possible to prevent the extension of the war and a potential wave of revolutions. The main instrument of this policy was the menace of Austrian military action against Russia and on the other side maintaining of hope of the Western powers for this action. German policy of Austria concentrated on defending its position within the German Confederation and using of German allies for demonstrations directed against Russia, which, however, were not very effective due to the reluctunce of the German states. Šafránek's Chronicle of Town Hořice as Ethnographic Source

The Bachelor Thesis deals with the chronicle, written by the craftsman František Šafránek from Hořice. The chronicle describes events from the second half of 19th century. Its use as an ethnographic source provides a large amount of themes, from which were chosen small-town festivities for detailed analysis. These records brings us opportunity to get a closer look at the festivities and their course as perceived by the eyes of their direct participant. There are not only traditional festivities of folk origin but also festivities originated during 19th century, especially in the last third of this century in connection with society changes. The chronicle recorded by František Šafránek is one of sources which can contribute to understanding of festivities in 19th century. Theresia of Sternberg - a Life of Noblewoman in the 19th Century

The purpose of this bachelor's thesis is to provide a view into the life of Theresia Countess of Sternberg, born Stadion-Thannhausen. This lady is not well-known in public sub- consciousness, only the castle visitors can meet her nowadays inside the castle of Český Šternberk, where her portrait is on display. Even though she is not known for any personal achievements, she offers a view into her personal life which makes it an interesting probe into the lives of 19th century nobility. Theresia of Sternberg was born in 1819 as the third child of Phillip Stadion- Thannhausen and his wife Marie Kunhuta, born Countess of Kesselstatt. She was 26 years old when she married into the old Czech lineage of Stenbergs. She had five children with her husband Zdeněk of Sternberg. Her life was extinguished in 1873. Her own biography further includes the history of the Sternberg clan as well as the sketch of Zdeněk of Sternberg life. The Court of Appeal in Bohemia between 1749 and 1790 (1850) This thesis describes the development of The Court of Appeal in Bohemia between the years 1749 and 1850. The main aim of this thesis is the description of the role of this court in the system of justice in the second half of the eighteen century and the description of the effects of reforms of Maria Theresa and Joseph II on the constitution, structure and function of the court. In the form, which the court acquired at the time of the rule of Joseph II, the court remained for another sixty years. The Court of Appeal in Bohemia was founded in the year 1548. From the beginning it was a royal court and was empowered to hear appeals of municipal courts. Its competence was extended during the ages. On the contrary the district of the court was limited during the eighteen century only to Bohemia. In the year 1850 the court was transformed into Higher Regional Court in Prague.
Socio-cultural activity of the Czech clergy in the 1860's: the vicariate of Sedlčany under the leadership of B. M. Kulda 1860-1870

The main topic of this study is the role of the lower echelons of the clergy in Czech society in the 1860's. Against a backdrop of the broader socio-political context, the study focuses on the Vicariate of Sedlčany, where the writer and patriotic priest Beneš Metod Kulda served as vicar from 1860 to 1870. The work deals with the identity of the ethnically Czech lower echelons of the clergy, their mentality and activities. Special emphasis is placed on how they coped with the liberalization of society, on their work in education and their attitudes towards national issues. The study depicts the mentality and activities of the clergy on the basis of specific examples, which can frequently be termed typical. At the same time, it describes unusual events that in some cases attracted attention beyond the borders of the vicariate itself. In conflict situations, the perspective of the clergy are also compared to the views of their ideological opponents. An analysis of the relationships and mentalities of the main actors reveals the multifaceted background of social life in the years when decisions were being made about the future direction of the Habsburg Monarchy and the Catholic Church.
