Power of the First Generations of the Ronov Noble Family and Their Position Within Czech Mediaeval Society

Diploma thesis Power of the First Generations of the Ronov Noble Family and Their Position Within Czech Mediaeval Society was dealing with the position and power of the first three generations of the representatives of Ronov noblemen in the direct line towards Hynek from Dubá. In the prosopographical part of the thesis the lines of testimony were analysed and these proved clearly that the maximum of their court career was occurring during the reign of Wenceslaus the First. This maximum is also reflected in the other part of the thesis - which is the analysis of possession- holding. At the age of Wenceslaus the First Ronov noblemen built up a vast area of their particular possessions in Northern Bohemia and gradually they were developing colonisation of this region. Even though Ronov noble family did not take up any posts at the court, the exception is the position of Budysin administrator, they created a very tight connection to Premyslid kings due to the common childhood with Wenceslaus the First and they also supported him politically and also militarily in his inner and foreign policy. After the death of Castoslov from Zitava the position of power in the direct family line began to deteriorate, the peak of power was now for Lichtenburg family. Strakonice Castle and Commandery

Theme of my thesis is Strakonice Castle and Commandry, where the House of Bavor and the Knights of Malta lived abreast for almost two centuries. Initially, my thesis will follow up the development of settlement of Prácheň region, especially of the Strakonice region, from the earliest times to 13th century. Next part of the thesis will introduce the House of Bavor and the Knights of Malta and their activities at the Strakonice castle. In conclusion, the thesis will deal with the foundation of Commandry and the castle, their subsequent architectural development and architectural analysis.

The church of st. Bartolomeus in Pilsen

The thesis wants to explain a building historical evolution of church St. Bartolomeus in Pilsen. The topic is defined from the beginning to construction works to 16th century. The systematics of topic contains a historical evolution of the area from 9th century to be beginning from a Old Pzenec (Starý Plzenec) with a hilfort of the same name. Next the text narrates about a foundation of a town New Pilsen (Nová Plzeň), which is bound with a history of castle Radyně from time of the emperor Karel IV. History and conception of the church are explored by a architecture aspect. The topic is closed by a Šternberk's chapel, which was founded at the turn 15th and 16th century's and which was a last Gothic action this building. The construction periods are compared between them with a respect to style specifics from the foundation to 16th century. This work notes of a architecture overall also of architectural details and these wants to place this building into a context of the contemporary architecture.

Anthiphonary of Sedlec and Czech painting of the 13th century

Painting decorations of the Sedlec Antiphonary manuscript (Prague, NK ČR, XIII A 6) serve as significant evidence for art painting development in Central Europe during the cultural changes, when Late Romanesque style evolved into Gothic. The aim of the thesis is to submit profound art-historical analysis of the Sedlec Antiphonary manuscript, which is stored in National Library of the Czech Republic in Prague, call number XIII A 6. The main method of this work is the careful study of painting decorations in the manuscript, in terms of both analysing their layout in general and typology of the single ornament motifs. Among other methods are formal analysis, comparison based on typology and iconography analysis. Similarities of the manuscript and works of the same time of origin, such as Mater verborum manuscript (Prague, KNM, X A 11) or Wolfenbüttel sketch-book , are also taken into consideration. Due to this comparison could be proved that the author of the Sedlec Antiphonary was probably influenced by Byzantine, Venetian and German painting styles. The Sedlec Antiphonary represents an important and practically key work in the context of painting development in the 13th century. On domestication of emphyteutic law in 13th and 14th century in the Čáslav province

1 ABSTRACT The work deals with the infiltration process and the emphyteutic law evidence in the Čáslav province in the Middle ages. This area can be delimitated with the range of the Iron Mountains from the north, and then with the river Sázava from the south. Several significant territorial suzerains (authorities) acted here such as Vilémov monastery, Sedlec monastery and Želivka monastery, especially significant was the colonization activity of the Lichtenberk family which was developing in the area from the half of the 13th century. The Lichtenberks came to the area from north-western Bohemia, from the contact area of the Czech state, where their relatively early-ripening emphyteutic contracts are documented, and infiltration of early forms of the German law is presumed in general. This medieval law, sometimes designated as "stable and firm" in written sources, was brought from the area of present western Europe (also form the Netherlands) by new settlers, colonists who were bringing with them excluding new knowledge of landscape cultivation (drainage, forest transformation into fields) also juridical habits, which were used to adjust legislative relations while establishing villages. The Convent of Dominican Nuns on the Hare Island in Budapest. An Outline

The Convent of Dominicans on the Hare Island in Budapest. The topic of the master thesis is the architectural analysis of the Nunnery of Dominicans on the Hare Island in Budapest, which was established with Bela the IV. to his daughter Margaret - later Saint Margeret of Hungary. The Nunnery was originated around the middle of the 13th century (the most probably between 1246-1252). And is presented as an example of the archtitecture of Nunnery of the Orders of Dominicans in Europe. This master thesis presents the history of this Nunnery and also the origin of the guild of the nunnery. The guild was working all around Buda for the king of Hungary - Béla IV. Some of the Hungarian Art Historians think, that the guild originally came to Hungary after they finished their works on the Nunnery of the Cistercianer Order in Porta Coeli in Tišnov near Brno. The person of Saint Margaret of Hungary and her Cult in Hungary and Europe is also discussed in this master thesis.

Minnesing and court literature at the court of last members of Přemysl's dynasty and the first membe luxembourg's dynasty

Qualifying work has interdisciplinary charakter. This work is concentrate on knowledge of history and culture of age last members of Přemysl´s dynasty and the first members of Luxembourg´s dynasty. The primary aim of work is to identify the conditions under which there is courtly literature and minnesing on the courts of these rulers. Next aim is using the comparative method to define the basic topics in prose and poetry. The secondary aim is recognizing influence of German and Latin literature domestic and foreign on literature written in Czech. The work ?Minnesing and court literature at the court of last members of Přemysl's dynasty and the first members of Luxembourg's dynasty? deals with years 1283?1306 and 1310?1333 taking into account also past years.
