Interior Design of a Café

The thesis deals with the reconstruction of the café in a historic building on Svoboda Square in Mohelnice. To the revitalized interior, dominated by brick vault was introduced a new and fresh design. The café has two basic spaces. In the first lighter room is located bar and a few tables with long benches and chairs. The back room features a private sitting area overlooking the atrium of the building. Simple shapes and natural materials create contrast with the historic vault. Use indirect lighting is achieved pleasant and intimate atmosphere. An essential element of the interior is a custom made chair that their morphology fit into the concept of the café.

This thesis deals with the design of a seating element for interior, specifically a chair made of solid ash wood. The work is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with the historical development, typology and requirements for seating furniture, with a focus on chairs. The practical part deals with the design of a specific chair, which is the subject of this thesis. This part includes research of the Czech and foreign market, as well as a detailed description of the design process, from the initial idea to the final design. In addition, mechanical property tests of the chair were conducted using stability calculation and finite element method. The last part of the thesis describes the production of a functional model of the chair in real scale, including the materials used. The chair is designed to become a timeless piece of furniture that combines honest craftsmanship of solid wood with modern chair design, featuring visually interesting construction details.

This thesis covers the entire process of designing and manufacturing a functional model of a chair printed on a 3D printer. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part includes a brief history of seating furniture, ergonomics, safety requirements and a summary of 3D printing technology. The second, practical part, covers the whole design and manufacturing process including the used material. Custom sketches, variations of design, visualizations, production photos and final photos of the model are included. The final output of the thesis is a functional model in 1:1 scale.

Rudolf Matúš: Furniture seating element with the use lamellar or shaped plywood elements. The main focus of this bachelor thesis is the design and production of a seating element according to the assignment. The first part of the thesis is devoted to the theory, topic of sesating, introduction to the materials used, furniture joints, surface finishes, ergonomics, etc. After the completion of the theoretical part, the practical part follows, which summarizes the theoretical information from the introduction of the thesis and is supplemented by testing the prototype for strength and stability.

MASNIKOSA, Aleksandar. Chair for public interior. Master thesis. Brno: Mendel University in Brno, 2023 The thesis focuses on the design of furniture for public interior. The result of the work is a design and a manufactured functional model. The chair has a simple design and construction solution and is made of solid beech wood. The first part of the thesis deals with the history and gradual development of seating furniture. It also describes ergonomics, typology and other requirements related to seating furniture. This is followed by a market survey, which includes a list of well-known Czech and foreign companies that makes wooden chairs. The second half of the thesis deals with the chair design process itself. The gradual evolution of the design process from the initial idea, sketches, 3D models, visualisation to production. Process is shown, described, and enriched with photographs. The functional model was finally photographed in suitable interiors.

This bachelor thesis discussed in the theoretical field of the importance of interior design and its link with the patient in medical care. Specifically address the disposing layout, editing, and requirements for furniture in the diabetes clinic. Further proposes furniture element that added comfort in everyday use of outpatient facilities. The development of the two proposed designs, namely interior and furniture element is documented in the form of sketches. Thesis also includes visualization and computer drawings.

This thesis describes designing and development the chair designed for specific musician, primarily for banjo or other instruments playing. The aim was to make a functional seat, which ensures comfort and helps the musician to focus his attention on the performance. The designer takes into consideration the right playing banjo position, body ergonomics, some of already made and used music chairs together with requirements and dimensions of the owner´s body. The result of this thesis is X-shaped folding chair with higher level seat, with belt footrest, backrest and without armrests. Solid beech wood, beech plywood and steel were used for making this chair. When making this chair typical furniture technologies and methods were used.

This diploma thesis describes the design and manufacture of a chair prototype made of solid wood. In the creation of the design of this chair, knowledge of the typology, furniture construction, ergonomics, anthropometry and materials are mentioned in the theoretical part. The practical part is made with the acquired knowledge of 3D visualizations and technical documentation. By using these documents a prototype of a chair was made in scale 1:1.

Bachelor thesis is focused on the use of the symbol in furniture design. The theoretical part is based on available sources of professional literature, discusses important requirements for furniture and describes issues of the symbol. In the theoretical part is specified and described a actual symbol (wolf), type of furniture object (seating element) and target group of users (pre-school children). This includes competitive market survey focused on described issues. The practical part consist of a design of a furniture object. Presentation of the design is in form of visualization, photographic documentation and a prototype in 1:1 scale.
