Janda, Martin ; Šídlo, Luděk (advisor) ; Klapková, Michaela (referee)
Comparison of pension systems in Czechia and Denmark Abstract The main of thesis is to contribute to discussion on pension systems and their reforms with a focus on Czechia and Denmark. The Danish pension system is considered as the best in the world, that means it could serve as a model for the reform of the Czech pension system. The paper describes the general types of pension systems used worldwide and in more detail Czech and Danish pension systems. The second part introduces the expected population development of both countries in 2080 according to the projection EUROPOP 2013. In the analytical part of the paper are used two different models to calculated potential numbers of pensioners in 2075 and subsequently old dependency ratio. Both of models suggest a higher old dependency ratio in Czechia than Denmark.

Svobodová, Lucie Magdalena ; Kotrusová, Miriam (advisor) ; Geissler, Hana (referee)
This bachelor thesis looks into informal long-term care in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Providing informal care can be hard and often has negative impacts on informal caregivers, which can even lead to burnout syndrome. But usually informal caregivers do not have a different choice because of unavailable formal care or the pressure of generation solidarity. The author describes long-term care in Czechoslovakia before 1989 in order to confirm or refute the validity of path dependence theory; she uses Sigrid Leitner's typology. Then she pinpoints the role of informal caregivers in the Czech Republic and Slovakia and afterwards she draws a comparison between them. The comparative analysis is based on given criteria, it especially focuses on informal caregivers' rights and obligations. Lastly, the author tries to apply discovered similarities and differences between the Czech Republic and Slovakia to the path dependence theory and verify its validity.

Subsequently the thesis deals with the impact that the economic crisis of 2008 had on political development and quality of democracy in these countries in the context of their mulfunctioning states.
Queer geografie sexualit: sociokulturní organizace sexualit v prostoru a (de)konstrukce heteronormativity.
Pitoňák, Michal ; Šiftová, Jana (advisor) ; Rochovská, Alena (referee) ; Kobová, Ĺubica (referee)
Geographies of sexualities started to develop within the Anglo-American academic context during the late 1980s. In the 1990s, propelled by the cultural turn, the swelling of post-structuralist and postmodern critiques, and a growing recognition of the limitations to scientific knowledge production and representation, geographers of sexualities introduced queer theory into human geography. Queer theory provided human geography with powerful tools for approaching not only straightforward spatialities of sexualities, but this new lens contributed to the development of human geographies as such. Currently, at least in the Anglo-Saxon geographical context, the field of geographies of sexualities is considered part of mainstream human geography. Therefore, the main goal of this thesis is to provide a few lines of reasoning for the development of geographies of sexualities in Czechia and Central Eastern Europe (CEE) and introduction of post-structuralist understandings, specifically queer theory. In contrast to other phenomena that may be locally exclusive or particular, human sexualities are everyplace, albeit quite variable and dependent on the context in which they "enter into language," become institutionalized, and are regulated. Geographers have been specifically insightful about the ways in which...

Novák, Martin ; Šídlo, Luděk (advisor) ; Kraus, Jaroslav (referee) ; Hnilicová, Helena (referee)
Accessibility of health care in the Czech Republic according to the geodemographic characteristics of the population Abstract Public healthcare is a subject that affects us all. The health and medical status of the population is a key measure of how advanced a country is. That is why healthcare issues attract so much debate. A number of factors affect the health of a nation. On one hand there are factors such as how individuals look after their health. Dietary habits, sufficient physical exercise and preventive care are all factors that the individual has control over. On the other hand, however, there are determinants affecting whether healthcare take-up is adequate. The cost of providing healthcare and medical equipment together with healthcare accessibility - the topic of this thesis - are factors affecting the population's health. It is the duty of all public healthcare stakeholders to limit the impact of these determiners. One of the main barriers to healthcare take-up is accessibility. On 1 January 2013 government decree no. 307/2012 Coll. came into effect quantifying healthcare accessibility for the first time. This law stipulates the local and travel time accessibility that ensures accessibility depending on type of healthcare on the basis of an upper travel time limit or waiting period....

Pištorová, Markéta ; Rychtaříková, Jitka (advisor) ; Kraus, Jaroslav (referee)
Fertility analysis in the Czech Republic of 2011 census data Abstract The aim of this thesis is to describe the development of fertility in cohort perspective based on census data, population and housing census was held in the Czech Republic March 26, 2011. An integral part of the analysis is differential fertility which focuses on women's fertility differences depending on marital status, educational attainment, economic activity and religious belief. The demographic analyses were used as the methods of the thesis, namely the completed fertility rate (average number of live births per woman of one generation at the end of her reproductive period), order-specific completed fertility rate and the parity progression ration (the probability that a woman with i children will have i + 1 children). The decline of completed fertility rate seems to be a permanent phenomenon and traditional determinants of fertility still have some influence. A growing proportion of children are born to single mothers. There is an increasing proportion of university graduates, whose completed fertility rate is the lowest among educational categories. Women claiming to religious beliefs, or the Roman Catholic Church, have the highest value of the completed fertility rate of all categories according to religious beliefs. Keywords:...

Pulec, Jan ; Peliš, Michal (advisor) ; Waic, Marek (referee)
Title: The Role of Islam in Life of Active Muslim Athletes in Czechia Objectives: The analysis of the relationship of Islam and sport is the main objective of this thesis. Sporting Muslims living in Czechia and active Muslim athletes are chosen as target group for our research. This thesis focuses on level of identification with Islam as their faith. It also focuses on their attitude to sport. It further deals with Muslim customs in terms of its effects on athletes' life. The proper example is the Ramadan fasting. Methods: We chose the semistructured interview as the method to collect data. We took seven interviews with Muslim athletes (four professional and three amateur athletes). We chose the method of open coding as the suitable method for analysing data. Results: We found out that the relationship of Muslim athletes (our respondents) with their faith can be characterized as folk Islam or folk religiosity. Respondents also consider sport as a fully satisfying part of their life, but it is not linked with their faith. However other Muslim practices (represented mainly by Ramadan fasting) do not show as problematic or incompatible with ordinary athletes' life. Key words: Islam, sport, Muslim athletes, Czechia
Miloš Zeman Prime Minister and the President: continuity or change in opinion?
Hnízdil, Ivo ; Švec, Kamil (advisor) ; Mlejnek, Josef (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to analyse opinions of Milos Zeman as the prime minister and as the president in similar political situations in three circuits, while selected issues closely touched the offices of the Prime Minister, or the President. Comparing these standpoints this paper concludes that Milos Zeman is not very consistent in his opinions. It seems that a change of his views is motivated by the current political profit and maximizing influence of the held constitutional post. Theoretical part of this paper characterizes the political system of the Czech Republic with emphasis on the necessary cooperation of concerned branches of state power. This allows readers the insight and the inclusion of individual standpoints of Milos Zeman to the realities of the practical functioning of the system. On this theoretical basis clearly stands out Milos Zeman's motivation to change viewpoint or stay in the former one.
