This report describes the work carried out in the second year of the public contract Geological and geotechnical characterisation of the rock environment – PVP Bukov II. The\ncharacterisation and descriptive works are directly related to the excavation of the premises for the future underground laboratory. These include in particular: geological and geotechnical documentation of the faces and walls of the workings, petrographic, mineralogical and structural geological documentation, hydrogeological characterisation of the environment, as well as determination of the physical and mechanical properties of the rock mass in situ and in the laboratory, geophysical characterisation and monitoring of the seismic effects of blasting and hydrogeological monitoring. An important part of this report is preparation of the classification system used to describe the rock mass. The report also includes a brief overview of the work planned for the third year of the project.

Final Report of the Project „Data Acquisition from the Deep Horizons of the Rožná Mine“ presents the results of the study of rock mass properties with respect to the presence of a significant tectonic zone. The study focused on the change of properties in the vicinity of the so-called first zone of the Rožná deposit, but also on the change of these properties with a depth of 12–24. floor of the former mine, 550-1200 m below the surface. Realized works included geological, petrographic, geochemical description of the rock environment, geophysical work (esp. seismics), study of physico-mechanical properties of rocks, transport experiments and deposit revalidation of the Rožná deposit. All work was carried out for the purpose of describing the studied zone and its manifestation with an emphasis on ensuring the safety of the potential location of the deep geological repository.
Formation of mafic granulites as a result of metamorphic and metasomatic processes at the contact of felsic and ultramafic lithologies (Dunkelsteiner Wald granulite massif, Bohemian Massif)
Zelinková, Tereza ; Racek, Martin (advisor) ; Hasalová, Pavlína (referee)
English Abstract The Dunkelsteiner Wald granulite massif in Lower Austria belongs to the Gföhl unit of the Moldanubian zone of the Bohemian Massif. Predominant rocks are felsic granulites which in some places contain garnet pyroxenites and peridotites. There are positions of mafic and intermediate granulites on their intersection. Primary mineral association of mafic granulites is garnet, clinopyroxene rich on Jd and Ca-Tschermack component and kyanite. These rocks probably represent Ca-richer variant of pyroxenites. Contemporary mineral association is make by garnet, clinopyroxene, plagioclase and orthopyroxene. Accessory there is amphibole, spinel, rutile and Ilmenite in the rocks. Sapphire inclusion in garnet cores close to kyanite inclusions has been observed in several cases. Decompression of these rocks creates specific symplectite textures in mafic granulites characterized by plagioclase inclusions. These inclusions are partly or fully surrounded by garnet porphyroblasts on their edges and coarse grain symplectics of plagioclase and pyroxene in matrix. A possible explanation of emergence of this specific texture in rocks on intersection with felsic granulite is an infiltration of melt from felsic lithology. Proof can be the enrichment of K component on edges of plagioclase grains. On the other hand,...
Structural and petrological characterization of Melechov massif host-rock migmatites
Zelinková, Tereza ; Lexa, Ondrej (advisor) ; Faryad, Shah Wali (referee)
English abstract This work deals with the structural and petrological characteristics of migmatites surrounding Melechov massif near Humpolec. The aim was to assess the existence of multiple anatectic events that could be caused by intrusion of late granites. The results are based on fieldwork, petrographic observations in thinsections of the collected rocks, study of major minerals chemistry in both melanosome and the leucosome of selected migmatites and a comparison of bulk chemical analyses of selected samples. Studied migmatites are characterized by SSW-NNE oriented migmatitic vertical banding S2, which is intensively transposed into subhorizontal foliation S3 via folding and solid state deformation. Rocks of all studied sites bears common mineral assamblage (Bt + Crd + Sil + Pl + Kfs + Qtz + Ms + Mag). While overall chemical analysis of selected samples do not vary significantly, the chemistry of biotite and cordierite exhibits a significant increase in xMg a slight decrease in Ti from the first to the third locality. Chemistry of other rock-forming minerals do not vary significantly. These differences correlate well with different modal abundance of magnetite, which reaches up to 3% on the locality TM3. Based on the obtained data it can be stated that the studied rocks form a homogeneous domain of the...
