Media communication in state administration: Ministry of education, youth and sports of the Czech Republic. Case study.

The thesis is a case study dealing with the media communication of a public institution, in this case the communication of the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. The analysis is limited to the period of the first 100 days of the new minister's (Marcel Chládek) work and to selected printed periodicals. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the communication of the department and to evaluate its effectiveness. The work also includes the specifics of the period preceding the establishment of the new government, as well as Marcel Chládek's previous activity in relation to his work as the head of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic. Besides, the thesis deals with the public administration communication theory, marketing and public relations within this sphere.
Qualitative research of media literacy clas-books

abstract.en This study is an analysis of media literacy school books. The research method is combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis. The study begins with a market research and then all the relevant books found are analyzed from content point of view. The goal is to investigate the best structure definition for the final quantification. The media literacy as a program of primary and high schools has been started eleven years ago and there is significant lack of information what is actually taught and how it is processed. Czech school system gives freedom of teaching form. One piece of the answer for this wide question can be the research of all available text books. The study aims at real printed and published school books and excludes all methodology guides, worksheets and non-printed documents. There are some official conceptual and normative materials released by government which will be used in this study for comparison. Social media as a tool for promotion of artistic craftsmanship

The Diploma Theses aims to investigate the role of social media in promotion of particular art-craft workshops. Based on half-structured qualitative interviews we analysed, what is the role of promotion of art-crafts on social media in their competitiveness and long-term sustainability. Also, we focused on how do the owners of art-crafts workshops evaluate the role of social media in promotion of artistic craftsmanship and finally, which particular practices or types of content work the best in their opinions, either isolated or in context of other promotional techniques and channels. The goal of this research was to understand how exactly art-craft workshops use social media to promote themselves. The main social media sites appearing in the research are Facebook and Instagram, but also others. During the research we managed to discover other interesting findings related to the community of followers and their function, or to concepts of WOM and Direct marketing. As well as we managed to cover reactions of the owners of art-craft workshops to recent changes in Facebook's algorithms and its practical impact on them.
New media as a part of media education on high schools

Thesis New media as a part of media education on high schools focuses on the representation of new media in education on high school level. The trend of new media and the number of their users are still growing; the adolescents in particular spend great portion of their time using them. That is why I have decided to find out what is the position of this phenomenon in Czech education system on high school level, at grammar schools in particular. To get complex results I firstly analyse statutory documents for national curriculum, then methodological handbooks and other information sources for media education; I also look into teachers' knowledge of this topic and how they implement it to their lessons, and I also directly ask the students. The theoretical part of this thesis creates content base for the thesis itself and also for a lecture about new media that I have put together. The practical part combines qualitative and quantitative methods of research to get as precise results as possible.
The beginning, transformation and the present of Radio Junior

Bachelor thesis "The Beginning, Transformation and the Present of Radio Junior" describes in detail new, independent radio station of the Czech Radio for children. First chapter is focused on the historical and legal background of broadcasting for children. Second chapter aims at the circumstances of the beginnings of this radio station. Third chapter is mapping the evolution of Radio Junior, including the description of broadcasted programs, its activities and the further direction of evolution.
Media educaton in Czech lessons on high schools

The aim of this diploma thesis, which is entitled "Media education in Czech lessons in secondary schools", is to map out the current state of integration of a cross-sectional theme named Media Education into the Czech lessons of all kinds of high schools in the Czech Republic. The educational process is seen from the perspectives of all its participants. The thesis should bring the list of excerpted scientific texts and research dealing with the object of our interest. And it also aims to describe the interfaces of both educational subjects which emerge from the requirements for the students. The research part is aimed at providing the informations about the particular signs of media education in the obligatory school subject of Czech lessons as well as the success of this effort to increase media literacy by the high school students. This information should be collected by a content analyses of school curricular documents, interviews and questionnaires of both sides of the educational process.The work also brings an analyses of teaching materials represented by Czech lesson textbooks, which are evaluated according to the integration of our cross-sectional theme and its possibilities. The output of this thesis is the suggestion of our own didactic instrument, the didactic test.
Methods for evaluating the credibility of news sources by yound adults and habits in their use

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate young people's approach to media consumption. The presumed objective of the thesis is to ascertain the method that young users apply to evaluate the credibility of news sources in the media. In the first theoretical part the thesis explains the status of the media in the information age and changes related to the field. It also discusses the need for media literacy and its possible development via media education. The chapter finishes with an overview of the most important data from recent studies concerning young people and the media. Second part consist of a qualitative research that is inspired by the research design of the theory by Strauss and Corbin (1999). Data for this research were obtained from 21 in depth interviews among 18 and 19 years old Czech citizens. The open coding was used for the analysis. The outcome of the analysis was interpreted through the method of constant comparation. The result of the research is a creation of four typological user groups according to the type of use of the news resources in the media.
Analysis of the first and the last year of the Bravo magazine and comparison of the content

This work aims to determine whether the content and main topics in the Czech version of Bravo magazine have changed over time. The aim is to analyze the contents of the Bravo magazine in the first and last year of its existence. Quantitative content analysis is used for this research. Advertisements, their occurrence and their size are also investigated. Subsequently, the results of these analyzes are interpreted, compared for the purpose of determining how these two years varied between each other, whether the topics presented changed. Magazines for teenage girls are a specific type of periodicals that enjoyed great popularity in their target audience. These magazines often create in young audience specific idea about the world around them, their effect on the reader is great. At the same time, the views of the world and the topics presented in these journals are often very specific, profiled. The most famous girl magazine is Bravo magazine. Its Czech mutation was published from 1991 until 2015, when it was canceled due to declining sales. In the theoretical part of this work is also explained the history of girls' magazines in our country, their characteristics and meaning.
