30 Years ff Geodynamic Research in the Territory of Northern Moravia
Švábenský, Otakar ; Pospíšil, Lubomil ; Weigel, Josef
As part of the investigation of the geodynamics phenomena, the deployment of GNSS technology, which enables effective determination of the kinematic tendencies of the upper layer of the earth's lithosphere, represents an important contribution. The Institute of Geodesy of BUT in Brno, as the first university institute in the Czech Republic, could practically use this technology since 1992, and one of the first activities was involvement in geodynamic research on a national and international scale. It is significant that it was just during this period that a local research geodynamic network covering the Czech and Polish parts of the Králický Sněžník massif was built. It was the first project of this kind in the territory of Moravia, and our institute had the opportunity to actively participate in this project. Today, at the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Sněžník network, we can state its significant contribution to our scientific research and teaching activities. Since then, our activities in the field of GNSS geodynamic applications have expanded to the entire territory of Moravia, and later to the Czech Republic. A significant factor was the establishment of close 19 http://dx.doi.org/10.13164/seminargnss.2023.18 contacts with experts in other geoscience fields (geology, geomorphology, geotectonics, seismics, etc.), which made it possible to apply and present our results in a broader context of mutual cooperation. It has been confirmed that it is important to confront and integrate the results of geodetic measurements with all the relevant geoscientific knowledge that is currently available. This paper mainly deals with two topics. The first is a 30-year measurement period in the Sněžník network. The second is a description of our other activities focused on the investigation of geodynamic active areas of Moravia, especially its northern part. One of the significant results is the compilation of the initial kinematic model of the Moravian part of the Bohemian Massif and its continuous addition and refinement.
Calculation of local quasigeoid models from heterogeneous data
Kratochvíl, Richard ; Kostelecký,, Jakub (referee) ; Weigel, Josef (referee) ; Kratochvíl,, Vlastimil (referee) ; Machotka, Radovan (advisor)
The goal of this thesis was to evaluate whether it is possible to replace gravimetric data with topographic ones for calculating quasigeoid models using astrogeodetic levelling. Gravimetric data are not of sufficient quality in selected areas, hence their replacement can increase the accuracy of obtained models. The computational program PRVAK was created. It facilitates the calculation of the quasigeoid model by astrogeodetic levelling, the models can be calculated on a profile or in an area by least square adjustment of conditional observations from astrogeodetic deflections of the vertical or their combination with topographic ones. Furthermore, the Dolní Morava network was built, with astrogeodetic deflections of the vertical determined at 34 points. The data comparisons were tested at three localities, where quasigeoid models were calculated by astrogeodetic and astrotopographic levelling and compared with reference data. On the profile Velká Bíteš – Brno – Uherské Hradiště, the calculated models were compared with the gravimetric model calculated by Research Institute of Geodesy, Cartography and Topography. The standard deviation of the differences between the reference model and the models calculated in this work was reduced using astrotopographic levelling by approximately 38 % compared to astrogeodetic levelling. For area models of quasigeoid in the localities of Dolní Morava and Brno, it was possible to compare the internal accuracy of these models. When using astrotopographic levelling, values of standard deviation of height anomalies were reduced by 40 % in Dolní Morava locality and 25 % in Brno locality compared to astrogeodetic levelling. In both localities, the quasigeoid QGZÚ-2013 was chosen as a reference model for comparison of external accuracy. The contribution of astrogeodetic levelling to the improvement of external accuracy could not be demonstrated because the calculated models of quasigeoid have similar accuracy as the reference model.
Deformation surveying of structures with GNSS technology
Dikoš, Martin ; Weigel, Josef (referee) ; Švábenský, Otakar (advisor)
The thesis of this bachelor's work was the measurement and evaluation of shifts on the assigned construction objects. The observed construction is Královopolský tunnel and Ivančický viaduct. The measure was done using the GNSS technology and the statical method. Assessment of the provided data from previous measurements, and measurements of the data done in TBC software. From the evaluation of the data, an assessment of horizontal and vertical shifts occurs.
Deformation Surveying with GNSS technology
Míča, Vojtěch ; Weigel, Josef (referee) ; Švábenský, Otakar (advisor)
This bachelors thesis sets the task to measure, process and evluate data obtained through static GNSS method on a point in a network used to set out Královopolský tunnel, these measurements were obtained in the years 2002, 2004 and 2022. The other GNSS measurements were carried out on points in geodynamic network „Sněžník“ which were obtained between years 2012 and 2022. All of these measurements should be proccessed through Trimble Business Center. Based on the results it should reveal possible horizontal and vertical deformations in the direction to default points.

In September 2001, the permanent GNSS station TUBO, which is located on the building of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Brno University of Technology, was connected to the European EUREF Permanent Network (EPN). The paper recalls the establishment of this station and its twenty years of operation and use of their data not only in the EPN network.
Cave maps and their symbols in publications Speleo and Speleofórum
Benešová, Karolína ; Kratochvíl, Radim (referee) ; Weigel, Josef (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor's thesis was to tackle the problem of map symbols used in maps of caves, cave systems and similar naturally created landforms. Two publications dealing with this issue were analyzed, namely the anthology Speleo and Speleofórum. For the Speleo magazine, it was 74 issues published between 1990–2019 and for the Speleofórum magazine 23 issues published in the years 1989–2019. In total, more than 1,000 maps and their map symbols were recorded. I total it was 264 and 340 symbols for the Speleo anthology and the Speleoforum respectively. Subsequently, the symbols were sorted into categories and digitalized. Only a fraction of the maps included a legend, and therefore the meaning of used symbols had to be identified in the text the respective article. Maps with key have become more common in the last five years, thanks to more affordable digital technologies such as Therion, which automatically provides a unified legend.
The Using of GNSS Permanent Networks for Height Determination
Kuruc, Michal ; Sokol,, Štefan (referee) ; Kostelecký,, Jan (referee) ; Vatrt, Viliam (referee) ; Weigel, Josef (advisor)
This Thesis deals with the evaluation of height accuracy of GNSS point positioning. Many experimental measurements aimed on GNSS and heights issues was realised within this work. The ellipsoidal heights were measured together with the orthometric heights and then the local Quasigeoid model was created. The network of height points was built to realisation of proposed measurements on the territory of the city Brno. The model of Quasigeoid from experimental measurement was compared with any other models of Quasigeoid and with local astronomical model. The partial aim of this Thesis is the proposal of methodology of height determination by GNSS technology and levelling measurement together. We can determine or verify the orthometric heights by using GNSS measurement and this methodology.
